The Meridian Fleet Report - February 2023

USS Brian A. Olinski

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Luke Hung

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The main sim has the Olinski under fire by the alien ship with a torpedo running hot, straight, and true. The problem is who it is going to hit first. The fighter squadron is exactly between the torpedo’s trajectory and the Olinski. The CE is attempting to boost shields by 20%. The XO has ordered the fighter squadron to move out of the torpedo’s way. Only next month will we know if the shields held, the squadron moved, and the Olinski comes back swinging.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We have new crew. Check it out the bio and first post of Lt. Steve Johnson written by Travis Good.

Who is the shining star this month? Create more side sims. Engage the crew. Recruit....anyone looking for a job?

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: GM slot vacant
No reason for no CO post.

Olinski is hurting for players. Will continue to try and recruit, but it’s getting harder.

Will work with CO and XO, if I can reach them, to see what else is being done.

. . . . .

USS Chernov

Commanding Officer: Travis Good

How is your ship looking overall? We are looking pretty good overall. The Main SIM is going well and moving forward. The Side SIMS are doing well and much character progression is being done. We do need more members on the ship and the XO and I are trying as well as the whole crew. I am very thankful to have the crew that I have. We are like family.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? I have two people to nominate for this month! Richard A who plays Dr. Kastarak is writing some very well side SIMs for character building. Hjortur Ingi as Lt. Commander William Grey for his method acting against a Klingon Captain and trying to help save his ship, crew and mates!

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month. We need more JO’s and possible a new DH soon.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Self sim ship… No GM
XO excused because fairly new and just back from loa.

Ship doing well. We’ll keep working with CO and XO to see what else can help them grow.
. . . . .

USS Saracen

Commanding Officer: David Shotton

How is your ship looking overall? The Saracen is in great shape. Our sim is going well and we have now discovered the remains of the Bridge section of the destroyed ship, and a corpse floating in space with no sign of the baddies that destroyed the unfortunate ship. With Engineering and Science set to work on the debris and Medical taking a looksie at the corpse, maybe we can start gathering some answers as to who attacked the freighter.

With recent additions to the crew in the form of Engineering and Security JO’s, the roster is full of great writers although we still have openings in Medical and Science. Welcome Katy Darragh and Ava Henson to the Saracen!

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? Shaun Tee has done a fabulous job as the Saracen’s new XO, and his impromptu crew party in his quarters certainly drew a crowd. Shaun writes his character beautifully and brings him to life with descriptive text and enjoyable character moments.

Everybody has been busy getting into the main sim, joining side sims and developing their characters and character interactions and relationships. Everybody gets a big thank you from me for being an awesome crew to work and write with.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.I would love to support a few of our writers with some extra character driven stories and interactions, but at the same time not overburden the crew with too many threads!

Executive Officer: Shaun Tee

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? The DH are all in the green. I myself had a moment this month where I was away for a couple days, but all in all, sims are moving forward, though there is definitely opportunity for more storytelling in March.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims? Our JOs have been moving the main sim forward as we scan the cosmos and they’re doing great in the side sims, too. I’d love to see some more JOs on board the Saracen to join the team soon.

Who is the shining star this month? It’s hard for me to pick a shining star when you have such a wonderful crew. :) I think this month I want to shout out our GMT Sam Haynes for their fantastic prose in our main sim. But seriously, great work from lots of folks this month. I’ve enjoyed reading everyone’s work in Andriss’s silly welcome party and getting to meet the crew.

Gamemaster: Sam Haynes

Summarize the sim plot so far as if you were providing it to a new member joining the ship: The Saracen has reached the Farsinia system and began it’s investigation into the disappearance of the S.S. B’hari, a free trader cargo ship. The crew have only found wreckage and presumably one of the deceased B’hari crew. They currently work to analyze some of the wreckage in their search for the culprit behind the attack while attempting to locate what remains of the ship. However, it appears that there’s not much left to find. Suspicions and worries have begun to rise as some of the preliminary analysis show signs of other hull material used by an old Federation enemy. And this enemy… are they still out there, lurking in the shadows? Are they the ones responsible for the other disappearances in the region? What’s really going on here, and who’s behind it?

Join us, won’t you?

Who was the biggest contributor this month to driving the sim forward? Man, everybody is so good. But I must hand it to our captain for keeping the crew moving and focused. Everyone is doing a wonderful job. I’m really happy I decided to do my GMT on the Saracen. They really do rock, and also challenge me (in a good way) to meet them, and they pursue avenues I hadn’t considered. It really is a pleasure to write here with this fine crew.

FComm’s Comments: Saracen is doing well. Will help CO, XO and GM work on more side sim threads and ideas as that’s the growing direction they want to pursue.

. . . . . .

USS Sentinel

Commanding Officer: Matt Bongiorno

How is your ship looking overall? The ship is looking solid overall. There is one AWOL that I will address to see if the member is alright. We will also be bringing in a new Chief Medical Officer this month. I look forward to the crew being able to write together with them and get their medical needs taken care of consistently.

What was your favorite moment/post on the ship this month (include a link if possible!)? The Main Sim.

Name one thing you want to improve on the ship for next month.Being a bit more active. I have had a busy month at work and look forward to writing more in March.

Executive Officer: Nicole Cline

How are the DHs doing? Are they all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?DHs are doing well, moving the main sim along, which has slowed considerably but we are making progress. We are looking for a new CMO.

How are the JOs doing? Are the all active and participating, both in the main sim and in any side sims?We are lacking in JOs and are needing JOs in every department. Our new pilot has jumped into the main sim and lots of side sims.

Who is the shining star this month? Jorik, our new pilot, both for getting so involved with side sims, and this fantastic thread in which Jorik argues with an NE Vulcan and Kovan laughs and watches from the side.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Ship doing ok.
Will reach out to command crew about how we can pick up posting rate and create more side Sims.

. . . .

Overall the fleet is managing. There are a couple ships struggling with roster issues. From sever AWOL to extended loa to lack of filled rosters. Those are getting addressed. Will know more later this month.

No shout outs except to falcon, Captain of chernov who is on point with his reports. Hadn’t been late in forever and even had it in first of month if not day before. Thank you, Captain. Wish everyone was on the ball, like you.
