The Infinite Fleet Report - August 2019

USS Chimera

Commanding Officer: No Current CO DGrisham aCO

Executive Officer: Jerome Davis

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: The Chimera has been a bit quiet this month due to the absence of an active Commanding Officer and the unfortunate real-world eating me alive at my new job, thus taking me out more than I cared to be this month. Since the addition of the new aCO, things have picked up and I am hoping to see continued improvement in the month to come. Overall, the Chimera has weathered this particular storm quite effectively and the crew in general have done an outstanding job keeping things more active than even I expected under the circumstances. Looking forward to a great month!

Spotlight:

Vacancies: JOs in all Departments
Marines
Pilots

Gamemaster: Luke Hung

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: I have taken the last 6 weeks to prep another mission. During this period it appears that the Captain has gone AWOL and D. Grisham has been placed as aCO. Serendipitously, I am mostly ready to launch the first part of my next mission when given the directive.

Spotlight:

AFComm’s Comments: We are currently searching for a replacement CO for the Chimera after Phils unfortunate departure. We have high hopes that the outstanding crew and an excited, motivated and passionate CO will really make a turnaround for her. I have every faith the Chimera will go on to rapidly take its place again as one of the finest ships in the club!

FComm’s Comment: The Chimera’s crew is amazing! They have managed to keep the ship afloat while Phil was LOA and D Grisham has stepped up to aCO. D is a great rper and administrator so I am confident that the ship will be in good shape to hand over to the new CO.

USS Constellation

Commanding Officer: Louis Harvatt

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: Fleet report - July 2019

July saw a mixture of ups and downs for the Constellation with the ship finishing the month with a total of 95 posts just short of 3 times more than the Constellations post count stated in July of 2018. The month started off on a low but I am happy to announce that by the end of the month the crew were green and things were moving on at a steady efficient pace. At present, there are a number of side sim threads active on the Constellations board in addition to the main sim witch I personally cant wait to see unfold even more Em has been doing a fantastic job in her role as GM.

In addition to this July sadly saw the departure of two of our crew Trinity (COO) and Tim (CNS) both sadly due to constraint within and outside of the club. Though I am pleased to announce that in light of this with the assistance of my brilliant command team we have three new additions to the Constellations ever-growing family.

Gene Gibbs - Councillor
Cass Young - Chief of Operations
Ben Simons - Junior Officer (Science)

All three of our new crew come highly recommended and I look forward to working with each and every one of them within there new roles it has only been a few days and I am seeing brilliant things from some of our new crew.

Furthermore, at present, I am currently participating in 3 active side sims provided by our GM each focusing on different aspects of the star trek world and character development as a whole. Along with myself, a large proportion of the crew are spread out participating in threads relating to mysterious devices found on the holodeck. A flamenco performance turned into an investigation of a mysterious person who has appeared onboard and a question of parenthood and the behaviour of one of the crew offspring. Over the next month, I look forward to observing how these threads develop.

Overall, to conclude the Constellation had what could be described as a rollercoaster of a month with some ups and some down concluding on a high with members of the crew going on a posting frenzy as they returned to a routine towards to latter part of the month. Although AWOLs were low during the month of July it is my belief the reason for the decreased post count compared to Junes post count of 146 was due to the fact that a proportion of the crew was on LOA. Now that they have returned I feel that August will go off with a boom.

Sadly, the Constellation will see the beginning of August without an active Commanding officer due to the fact that I am taking my first holiday abroad in 12 years during the week of August 5th to 12th. But following discussion with my FCOMM, XO and GM I am confident that the ship will remain both active and in safe hands. With my return sparking a posting frenzy from me to get caught up.

I have high hopes for August and look forward to seeing great things from crew old and new.

Furthermore, during the spotlight section of this report, you will find more information on some of the behind the scenes work that has taken place during the last part of the month.

Spotlight: This month I would like to give out the following spotlights.

Sam Pennington - Chief Engineer:

Although Sam plays the ships chief engineer Michael Jameson I would this month like to give him a spotlight for his amazing work with the NE character NE Yelchin. Sam has played out this character with me and the GM Em Stephenson during the aforementioned holodeck side sim that related to the unknown device found wired into the holodeck system. Sam, you have shown great work and potential during the month of July and I look forward to working with you some more as this side sim unfolds. Keep up the great work you have made both myself and my command team extremely proud.

Em Stephenson - GamesMaster and Katy Darrah - Executive Officer

The month of July saw a lot of behind the scenes work take place and for there assistance in this work I would like to personally thank both my XO and GM for there assistance in addition to there great work with posting. More specifically both Girls have assisted me with active recruitment overhaul of key pieces of admin and plans for posting in the upcoming future. Great work girls keep up the work of doing a brilliant job.

Vacancies: Please see up to date list of vacancies on the Constellations ship profile.

Executive Officer: Katy Darrah

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: With half the senior staff off the ship for some VIP event, the rest of the crew can wreck my ship! Welcome aboard to the new COO, CNS, and Sci JO, all of whom joined yesterday!

Spotlight: Can I do two? I’m gonna do two.

  1. Sam Pennington. Not only did he take over my former position as CE, but he’s got everyone laughing with an NE that’s the living embodiment of the Constellation, NE Yelchin.

  2. Ems, the GM. She doesn’t cease to make me laugh, or throw in some weird twist I wasn’t expecting.

Vacancies: Entertainment Coordinator

JOs.

Gamemaster: Emily S.

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 7

Sim Overview: It’s been a very mixed month on the Constellation, we started out very slowly and posting was a bit sporadic so the sim has not moved on quite as much as I hoped. That said, the past week has been exceptional with things moving a lot faster. Having lost two of our senior staff during this month, we were in somewhat of a holding pattern for a couple of weeks but I’m thrilled that we have got some fantastic new crew in place now and I can’t wait to see what they bring to the ship. We have started the first thread of the main sim and the second part will begin within the next week once our new people have had a chance to settle in. The crew who have remained on board ship have been amazing, they have been getting involved in the side sims and kept things ticking over.

Spotlight: Spotlight this month goes to Travis for his feisty Ferengi CMO! I’ve thrown quite a lot at him in the past couple of months and he’s managed to juggle several threads admirably and brought lots of humour into his posts, keep up the good work!

AFComm’s Comments: I’ve got to say, the command staff of the Connie is doing a textbook perfect job of developing and maintaining a stable, fun, friendly and functional environment. There has been some absolutely stellar work by Louis as her CO and I absolutely commend his leadership. The turnaround has been night and day and I have no doubt that the Connie is bound for greatness again!

FComm’s Comments: I have to agree with Andy that the turnaround in CO activity has been like night and day. As I have been saying to Louis all along, I knew he had it in him. Keep it up, Louis! The response by the crew has been phenomenal and the sim finally feels like it is going to take off! I will still be keeping an eye on the Connie but am really hoping that things will continue to improve.

Starbase Magellan

Commanding Officer: Jim Watkin

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: I’m settling in and the Starbases is now apporaching the closing stages of the sim with the freighter being towed back by the Trinidad. Overall the crew posting level is good and having had chance to tidy up the roster, I have been able to see in a better position what vacancies we have.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: Marine CO
CE
JOs (all departments including marines)
Swing characters (traders, business owners, visitors etc)

Executive Officer: Steve Johnson

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: Overall Magellan has been slowly moving along. With Jim coming on board, we are wrapping up the previous simm and moving to our next adventure. Hopefully things will pickup and we will be able to get the starbase rocking and rolling again.

Spotlight: Thank you to Amber for all the hard work you’ve put in over the years! Good luck and god speed!

Vacancies:

Gamemaster: Geoff Joosten

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 7

Sim Overview: I am trying to get this SIM put to bed as more people seem to be engaging with the Side Sims than the main one. I am hoping to get it wrapped up by next month.

Spotlight: Jim has done a great job taking back over and stoking the flames once again.

AFComm’s Comments: There has been a tough transition as Jim has taken the reigns as CO. I know he has some great plans as the old sim winds down and we look towards a little downtime and a new adventure. The crew is slowly coming back to life. It can be a longer process with some crews, and I have no doubt that this command team will get the job done and that next month Magellan will have gone from strength to strength

FComm’s Comments: The Magellan has hit a slower period which is due I think to the summer months but Geoff will be wrapping up the sim and I hope that a new sim will enliven her again. I am not too worried though as she has a strong Command staff.

USS Viking

Commanding Officer: Amanda Mercer

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: We have a couple of awols that are currently being taken care of, and the sim is moving forward.

The away team has beamed down to the colony with a few unexpected occurrences. Our CE took a swim in the colony’s swimming pool, one of our intelligence officers arrived in the middle of a stage production and the other was located in a karaoke bar on the holodeck and captain dropped in on dinner. Will our crew be able to figure out the mysteries of the Vaila colony before another life is claimed?

Spotlight:

Vacancies:

Executive Officer: Jim Watkin

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The crew have beamed down to the colony but into a range of locations and circumstances due to the colony’s system problems. These same problems also mean that once the team members work out where they are they have to make their way on foot to where they should be - I dread to think what our evil GM has in store for the characters but I’m sure it’ll be fun to play. ;o)

Spotlight:

Vacancies: Science JO

Gamemaster: Emily S.

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Sim Overview: This has been a good month for the Viking and everyone is getting really stuck in to the sim. The crew are interacting really well with the sim characters and have handled everything I’ve thrown at them, including a runaway turbolift and a quick dip in the swimming pool for the CE :) there has been some lovely character development and things are ticking along nicely now that we’re into the main part of the sim. The Viking is blessed with some great writers and although there have been a few AWOLs and late posters, we are progressing at a good speed.

Spotlight: The whole crew have been great this month with lots of interaction but my spotlight goes to Christina Crafford. Christina has been really involved in the main sim and despite ending up in a thread as the only crew member, she has been really consistent and creative with it and interacted very well with the sim characters.

AFComm’s Comments: The crew really seems to be engaging in this new sim and things are really starting to pick up pace aboard our horror ship. I know that Emily is really getting excited about where the sim is going and the quality of writing is absolutely astounding. American Horror Story may do well to pick this group up for the next season!

FComm’s Comments: The Viking is as always entertaining and with Ems as GM it is even more so. Good job guys!

Final Commments: The Infinite Fleet is finally finding its feet again I believe and I look forward to working with everyone over the next month as the new Command crew’s continue to settle in. Great job, everyone!
