The Black Fleet Report

USS Europa

Commanding Officer: Joe P

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 4
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: We’ve concluded the previous sim and are leaping straight into the next one. It literally just started so I have very little to say about how it is going.

Tyra Schroll is no longer our Gamemaster, but she is reprising her role as our Chief Engineer. Christopher Bennett is joining the Europa as our Gamemaster Trainee, being mentored by Lindsay Bayes. Matt Wiseman parted ways with the Europa during July.

Spotlight:

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Tyra Schroll

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 5

Sim Overview: The sim has concluded with the crew leaving the D’anh folks behind to rebuild from the revelation that there was a group of their people being kept underground and in servitude. The ship will be heading off on their new mission soon. The Governor decided that his colony was not ready to join the Federation yet because of this. His disappointment was very clear, but he had to do what was in the best interests of the people.

Spotlight:

AFComm’s Comments: The Europa is doing a bit better. I know that the AWOLs haven’t gone unnoticed by the command staff of the Europa and those details are being ironed out. I trust Joe is on it already. I’m definitely looking forward to Christopher joining to do his GMT there! I think he will do great with the ship, especially with Linds as his GMM.

USS Genesis

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Luke Hung

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 10

Ship Status: The Genesis is starting a sim about a low tech warp drive culture. We don’t have too much more than that right now, but the ship also has a bunch of side sims going on. So the ship is pretty busy overall. Its a good posting month.

Spotlight:

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: The Genesis typically does exceptionally well! As far as number of posts, they came second to Oed V. Julia and the team usually do a really good job, so no concerns there. Though, I still have yet to see the reports for the CO, XO, and GM. Hopefully they will be submitted soon.

USS Merrimack

Commanding Officer: David Fergusson

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: The USS Ark Angel has left the USS Merrimack to attack the Dark Serpents in an adjoining sector. The USS Merrimack has continued to the third planet in the system to investigate why it will disappear in the future. Their scans have shown a cavern beneath the surface which may have lifesigns and is certainly unusual, however Lead and Gold mineral deposits are blocking more complete scans. A team has been assembled to beam down and it just about to leave.
Meanwhile, Kord has prepared a subspace weapon that will be capable of attacking the Dark Serpents within subspace itself. These weapons are unreliable and not without dangers. Glen is worried that use of the weapon might be the very thing that destroys the third planet. Also, Bre has given birth to her twins. Mother and babies are doing fine.
The Merrimack is now at full compliment again, and has never had this number of active crew in some years.

Spotlight: No individuals to spotlight this month but the standard of posts remains high.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: Once more the Merrimack is tugging along nicely, a few hiccups here and there with some various roleplaying advice and posting habits but nothing too serious I think at the moment.

Sim wise the Merrimack is orbiting the third planet of the system they are in, sending down an away team to investigate some anomalies in the underground cave system they found that may or not be related to the Serpents.

Spotlight:

AFComm’s Comments: The Merrimack is doing quite well. The crew is definitely looking a bit fuller and post numbers are looking good. I would say overall, aside from the few hiccups Rob mentioned, all is quite well!

Oed V

Commanding Officer: Tony Findora

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: We finally have ourselves a new civilian head of medical! Thank you to Mary O’Donnell for filling in that role so nicely!

I’m giving the ship health a 9 for the simple fact that we have a full roster and blew the other ships out of the water for number of posts. Oed V landed with 234 posts for July. The only ship that came close to even touching that was the Genesis with 175. I think with our influx of talent in STF, we’ve really hit a mark with quality and quantity of posts. And despite this, we even have several people on LOA! When these people come back, its going to be interesting. I just hope Oed doesn’t explode. :P

In other news, Sidney and I have created a position to train someone for the potential to command Oed should the need ever arise. I’m happy to announce Trinity Fister as our new Oed V Liason Officer! Her duties will include, but our not limited to, taking care of the MOTD, assisting with on going projects, and learning the ins and outs of running a PRSIM.

We also have some projects we are working on including, developing a timeline for Oed, updating the Oed V brochure, and updating the department descriptions.

Spotlight: I’d like to spotlight several people.

The first being Trinity Fister for setting a good example when it comes to posting even if you don’t have somewhere to necessarily post. She’s also taken on the role of Oed Liason and we are looking forward to working as a team with Trinity! :)

I’d also like to spotlight Dave Eads, James Sinclair, Jeremy Despain, and David Shotten for their excellent portrayal of their Klingons.

I’d llike to spotlight Russ for his portrayal of a human CIO who had spent his time growing up amongst klingons! Russ always adds a color very different from others, and I love it.

I’d like to spotlight Mary O’donnell for taking on and portraying so well, our new civilian head of medical and social services!

I’d like to spotlight Hjortur Ingi for his portrayal of our Head of Police Force!

Without these recent additions, Oed would not have hit such a high mark on the posting rate. Excellent work all of you! :D

Executive Officer: Sidney Parker

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: Oed is really doing well. Anthony is on fire with ideas and initiatives. Jules had to take a eLOA and that made several threads stop but were adjusting for that. Overall really good roster and direction were heading in.

Spotlight: Hjortur has returned again as the Police Chief and is really putting effort into his writing. Really good and detailed posts.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: I would say Oed is doing great! Julia is back and we will be posting on fire here very soon (though most already are). There are quite a few projects to be worked on for Oed as well, but I’m confident over the next few months we will get a lot of it sorted out.

USS Olympic

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: Terry Sullivan

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: A bit of a slow posting month, possibly due to the switch to Exodus. That’s not to say there were any problems, because the switch was a smooth transition. Anyway, we finished the sim right about the time of the switch. The beetles were handled, the survivors rescued and the children reunited with their parents. All’s well that ends well.

The new sim has started but, gotten off to a bit of a slow start. Our new GM Josh has killed his first NPC in his opening thread. A murder mystery perhaps? An investigation? Wondering if we need to recruit Sam Spade to the crew? Thomas Magnum?? Hannibal Hayes and Kid Curry? That last one might be too old of a reference for anyone to remember. Kudos to the first one that remembers the show!!

I’m expecting things to pick up soon. Our CO has posted a reminder to everyone to get active and start kicking some butt!!

Spotlight: Miriam W. has come on board as the Olympic’s new counselor, a position we have been without for far too long. Golf clap to Miriam for jumping right in and getting psych evals taken care of with the whole crew no matter how reticent they may be to participate. She’s playing a sentient version of a slightly larger than usual house cat. I still want to toss a mouse into her office–as a socio-cultural experiment, of course.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: While the Olympic did experience a bit of a lull, I think overall she’s doing fine. With only one AWOL, I’m sure the ship will continue on its merry way as ways. Maybe not so merry though, to be fair, given that there seems to be a murder going on? Oh…and who the heck is Hannibal Hayes and Kid Curry??? :P

USS Wolverine

Commanding Officer: Terry Sullivan

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: There was a bit of a slowdown for the month of July as our GM was on a LOA immediately after the switch to Exodus. Other than that, the switch was quite smooth and painless. I’d like to thank James Sinclair for also making copies of posts and threads as a backup in case I had trouble moving them to the new site. Thanks, James!!

Now that Jason has returned the sim is plugging along. An away team (posing as traders from far off) is trying to get some info from the natives on how we can possibly find the Vaadwaur. Unfortunately, our holographic docking setup with the space station is failing thanks to our worthless CE (just kidding Sid!!), so out info gathering is going to be cut short. . . on to the next phase. . . . .

Spotlight: Everybody on the Away team has been doing their best to find answers from the inhabitants that really don’t want to talk much. They’re reaching for straws and coming up with some good ideas!

We also finally have a CMO on board. Trinity Fister has taken on the role as well as a science JO. We’ve been without a consistent doctor for a while, so hopefully Trinity is here for a while.

The rest of the crew? What can I say–all great writers that continue to impress me!!!

Executive Officer: Ray Branch

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: The Wolverine is running rather slow for the month of July. There’s now trouble at the airlock, so both teams have about 15 minutes to return to the ship. The downside is, they now have only 15 minutes to get the information they need in order to accomplish their objective.

Overall, I’d say the Wolverine could use some more JOs to keep the liveliness going.

Spotlight: N/A

Gamemaster: No report submitted

AFComm’s Comments: Nothing too extravagant here. The Wolverine is taking, albeit a bit slowly. JO’s could probably help move things along perhaps. And it would also add some more interactions amongst the crew. Overall, she’s sailing just fine.

FComm: Overall, the month of July has been rather slow for the Black Fleet. While we are seeing more activity than in June, it appears that LOAs and AWOLs are distracting the sims. The new FComm won’t have too much to work on, other than making sure ship commands are following their posting speed or recruiting JOs to fill their vacancies :)
