The Black Fleet Report - May 2020

USS Europa

Commanding Officer: Joe P

Crew Posting Level: 3
Senior Staff Posting Level: 2
Overall Ship Health: 3

Ship Status: The ship has been sluggish this month, in part because the sim has stalled, as our Gamemaster is going through a very difficult time in real life. We’re treading water at this point while we sort out what the mid-to-long term is to get the ship back on track. It’s not a good situation but we’re already engaged with all of the people we need to be to try to fix it.

Mike Montemayor was dismissed from the ship for being AWOL repeatedly. Dave Eads has taken his place as Chief Medical Officer.

Spotlight: No spotlight this month; things are kind of only barely limping along.

Vacancies: We are willing to take JOs in any department, as well as entertain proposals for Swing positions that would make sense on a small science-y ship.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: GM and XO are excused from report this month due to real life issues. As Joe mentioned the sim has stalled, but that said I personally do not feel the number’s Joe posted reflect the true health of the ship. Not in a negative light but a positive. The ship has active side sims, and has replaced troubled crew as well as Joe mentions. To me the ship is more a 4-5 in health. Obviously in the coming month Matt and I are going to be looking hard to address the GM issue and try to suggest ideas in the mean time which will help keep the Europa active.

AFComm: The Europa has been doing a decent job of moving along. I am concerned with the absence of their GM but understand that real life tends to get in the way of best intentions. I’ve discussed with Joe my concerns and will support him in whatever course he deems necessary.

USS Genesis

Commanding Officer: Luke Hung

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: The sim is running a little long. I think we are in the final few steps. The crew has posted reasonably well in this crisis period.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: I need a CNS

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Kenson Koh

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 9

Sim Overview: The USS Genesis makes first contact with the Pallasians from the Pallas system. They are warp capable but still reliant on nuclear power. They had colonised a neighbouring planet as mining colony. With any mines depleted, the colony started to deteriorate. A group of military personnel had rebelled and held their base on the moon of that colony. Completing the assessment on the main Pallas planet, the XO officially bid departure from the Pallasian government. The CO, had led another away team to encounter and find out more about the rebels. He found out that the main rebel leader a general named Puck was holding families ransom and forcing military personnel to be part of the rebel force. After rescuing the hostages, the Olinski prepares to return the hostages to the main Pallas government with reservation.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: A few AWOLS at the moment on the Genny, the CO and XO are AWOL (and the XO missed their report!) and a few others are also AWOL. The sim does seem to be in its final stages which is good. I will be addressing with the CO and XO about using the ship profile to post their vacancies in the coming month.

AFComm: The Genesis looks to be having an interesting sim that is keeping the crew engaged. I’m pleased to see their progress so far.

USS Merrimack

Commanding Officer: David Fergusson

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The current Sim is reaching a climax. The Merrimack is almost ready to deploy the device that should hopefully bring them much needed “temporal and reality healing.” Glen’s personal device (designed by Dr Grunch) seems to be keeping him together and he has now left Sickbay, but it is bulky and uncomfortable to wear. The other senior officers have some concerns about the scope and reach of the “healing” device - might it actually act as a “reality bomb,” or cause an irreparably “tear” in the space-time continuum? They have decided to proceed but only after completing an operational safety review, and after leaving the region of unstable space where they have been collecting gasses.

We have a new recruit aboard, Metaron, played by Travis Good. I’m less concerned about the ship’s health now - no more leavers, DH positions filled and the posting rates this month are slightly improved on last month. While there are currently some AWOLs on the board, everyone is involved in this current Sim.

Spotlight: Melissa Aragon for trying to rouse (or was that arouse) the ever inscrutable and deadpan Kord.

Vacancies: Junior officers, any custom position considered. Contact Captain of ship directly.

Executive Officer: David Bennett

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: Things are starting to pick up and move along.

Spotlight:

Vacancies:

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Sim Overview: A bit slower then usual this month but mostly I think thats on me with slumping due to a busy past month. A few AWOLS currently. Sim wise the Merrimack plans to run one more series of simulations to ensure their ‘friend’ Daniel isnt plotting some kind of reality/temporal altering bomb.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: The Merrimack is in ok shape I feel overall. While there are AWOLS on the board at present these will be looked into shortly and addressed in the coming week or so with the CO/XO. I will also be addressing to the XO asking for a bit more detail in their report then a single sentence for the next month’s report.

AFComm: The Merrimack continues to impress me with how such a small tight knit crew continues to stay active.

Oed V

Commanding Officer: Russell Watt

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: Sidney and the crew are doing great. Me, not so much. Katy left us during May.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: Civilians and Starfleet vacancies, including some heads of departments and civilian chiefs.

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: OED V had an up and down month it seems. Crew leaving and currently several AWOL/LOAs on the board. The Lt Gov was also not excused from his report either. This is the 2nd time its not been put in. I’ll be looking into this closely in the coming week or so to ensure we get a report next month. That said Russ is doing his best to smooth out the rough edges and I look forward to seeing improvement in the coming month.

AFComm: Oed V seems to be moving along pretty well. Keep up the good work folks.

USS Olympic

Commanding Officer: Christopher Bennett

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: It’s been a rough month for the Olympic. We have had a lot of LOA’s and AWOLS. Myself among them. As soon as I get back from all this traveling I am doing, I plan on introducing some side sims to get people more involved and active.

The main sim has slowed down considerably due to the LOA of our GM and my own LOA. We have set a course to a new, unexplored planet where some visitors to the ship come from, including a time traveling human. I am excited to find out who these people are and what they are doing in our timeline.

I am hoping posting will pick up once I get back.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: JO’s in every department.

Executive Officer: Terry Sullivan

Crew Posting Level: 5
Senior Staff Posting Level: 5
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: Not a good month for the the Olympic. Our ranks have thinned out considerably, as well as a number of AWOLs that need to be addressed. On the other hand, those crew members that are still holding out have been posting consistently, so I have to thank them: Gene, Jody, and Melissa!!!

The sim continues on as we head toward the planet that the mysterious entity directed us to. We still have no idea why or what awaits us there. We’re still trying to get answers from Lt. Hanlon, whom we rescued from the edge of a black hole (We’re still trying to get answers for his story as well).

In the meantime, we retrieved another pod from space with another survivor that is just awakening Another log is being thrown on the fire, per se!

Hoping with a gentle reminder, I can get the AWOLS taken care and we can move along.

Spotlight:

Vacancies: JO’s, JO’s, JO’s. . . .

Possibly a few DH positions may be opening up.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: I’m concerned for the Olympic, they’ll likely be in need of a GM and the numerous AWOLs/LOAs is quite concerning. The ship’s sim is almost at a standstill, with little to no side sims going on currently. The ship profile is also not up to date which again i’ll be addressing with the command team in the coming week and to try to get their motd fixed and up to date

AFComm: The Olympic has hit a bit of a bump. My same concern for the Europa’s GM is mirrored here. My wish for the crew is that everyone stays safe and sane during these crazy times.

USS Wolverine

Commanding Officer: Terry Sullivan

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The Wolverine had a great month post-wise. The main sim slowed a bit, but after conversing with the GM, and ideas he shared with me, I think the sim is going to move right along again.

Part of the large amount of posts are due to the addition of Melissa Aragon to the crew. Meli is our new Counselor and jumped right into posting. She is also going to be playing an engineering JO to make the CE’s life miserable. It’s nice to have a CNS back on board!! We also just received a new Science JO in Justin Ballard who just joined the club.

Sim-wise, as I mentioned, was a bit of a slowdown. The crew is still trying to figure out what caused the loss of power to the shuttle and now there have been power fluctuations throughout the ship and we’re still no closer to figuring out how or why. This is just the beginning of a large story arc Jason has planned for us. I’m excited to see this play out and continue. I’ve no doubt that things are going to pick up!!

Spotlight: I know she’s only been aboard for a week or so, but I really enjoyed the side sim dinner between Melissa and James (CNS and XO) The XO is smooth when it comes to women. I mean, smooth like “butta”. I have a feeling the CO and XO are going to be forever challenging each other when female crew members come aboard. LOL!!!

Vacancies: I am happy to say, we have almost a full crew complement!!! We had a medical JO, but he never posted. So we could use at least one of those. Otherwise, we have at least one JO in every department, but could always use more!!!

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Jason Lee

Crew Posting Level: 9
Senior Staff Posting Level: 9
Overall Ship Health: 5

Sim Overview: A Warehouse 13 crossover sim

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: XO report was not excused and will be looked into to remind them of getting their reports in on time. Sim wise there is a lot of activity for check ins and development it seems. Sim wise things seem to be slowly moving but most of the crew seems engaged in side sims from what I see.

AFComm: The Wolverine has been doing very well. Activity is moving right along and the crew has been staying engaged.
