The Black Fleet Report - June 2020

USS Europa

Commanding Officer: Joe P

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: The ship is now doing merely ok. We have obtained a new GM, and are starting a new sim. We also have temporarily reduced the ship’s speed to Medium at the Fleet Commander’s suggestion until we are certain that we have a GM who can commit to a fast pace, because that is the primary defect that has prevented the ship from running at it’s usual speed of Fast for the past two years. Had we remained at fast, we still would have been “merely OK” this month, e.g. we would have exceeded the minimum requirements.

Joining Europa this month are Matt Evans, who is our new Gamemaster, Melissa Aragon, who is joining the security department, and Jody Romero, who joins us from the Olympic to play the final story of his long-running character, Shane Warwick. Sarah Hemenway decided to quit the ship.

Vacancies:

Executive Officer: Janice B.

Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 6

Ship Status: June has been an interesting month for the Europa.

Real-life hit our first new GM early in the Sim, forcing him to sadly step down. Despite that, we still enjoyed what little time we had and hope things will get better for him. Due to the difficulty in finding another GM, we’ve lowered our speed to medium. This is a temporary change and at some point, we’ll move back into a fast pace when possible.

A summary of the current events for the new Sim is pretty straight forward. Commodore Mccallum contacted the Bridge with information over discovering a warp signature on a non-warp capable planet. This meant two possibilities. Either someone broke the prime directive or the culture on the planet had discovered their way to the stars. The orders were clear, the Europa was being sent to investigate and resolve the issue.

Along the way, they encountered a strange pattern of signs. Whatever could it be? They are about to find out.

Spotlight: None for this month, but I aim to have one next one!

Vacancies: Currently, all the departments have been filled. If anyone is interested in a position on the Europa, contact JoeP or me (Fallenreaper) on the discord or in an email.

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: The Europa seems in good health, its new GM Matt is excused from GM reporting due to just coming aboard. The sim is underway and the crew seems active and involved. The ship also has had an influx of new members from the Academy so i’m excited to see where this goes with them, and if it’ll return the ship back to fast pace.

USS Genesis

Commanding Officer: Luke Hung

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 9

Ship Status: The ship wrapped up a long multi-month sim dealing with a new warp race the Pallasians. Thank You Kenson. I’m looking forward to seeing what new terrors you have for us looking ahead. There are several side sim and the ‘main’ party sim going on. We have a new influx in talent and finally a new counselor - I’m hoping to see great things from both of them.

Sim Overview: The USS Genesis makes first contact with the Pallasians from the Pallas system. They are warp capable but still reliant on nuclear power. Completing the assessment on the main Pallas planet, the XO officially bid departure from the Pallasian government. The CO, had led another away team to encounter and find out more about the rebels. He found out that the main rebel leader a general named Puck was holding families ransom and forcing military personnel to be part of the rebel force. After rescuing the hostages, the Olinski prepares to return the hostages to the main Pallas government with reservation. The hostages are returned to the Pallasians with assurances that the hostages would be treated fairly. Furthermore, the hostages wanted to return to Pallas rather than to avoid potential persecution. With that the sim ended.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: The sim is wrapping up and the crew though still seems involved with things. Overall seems like the Genny is in good shape.

USS Merrimack

Commanding Officer: David Fergusson

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: We are reaching the climax of this current Sim. The ‘machine’ designed by the alien, Daniel, has now been constructed, tested, and simulations have been run. We have taken the Merrimack to a safe place and all that is left now is the throw the switch. And then… what? A big explosion? A hole in the space-time continuum? The end of times? Or, will the temporal anomalies all be healed, the timelines restored, the future secure, and everything back to normality again?

All DH positions are currently filled and absences without leave have improved. We have experienced some high crew turnover recently. We have a new CMO, and we have two new JOs starting at the beginning of the next Sim. So, quite healthy numbers in respect to the historical position of the Merrimack.

Spotlight: Sorry to see Kirt Gartner’s Tellurian CMO leave us as we liked his gruff bedside manner and no nonsense attitude. An usual choice for a doctor, and difficult to play, but it was fun too.

Vacancies: I would like to fill the Junior Science Officer position and to have a few more Bridge officers and custom characters. Take your pick of any custom character you can think of - Nurse, Yeoman, Navigator, Helm, Captain’s Chef, Ship’s Historian, Ship’s Physicist, and Transporter Chief and we’ll try to accommodate it. Contact the Captain directly

Executive Officer: David Bennett

Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: The sim is nearing it’s finish… At least that’s how it seems.

Spotlight: The GM is doing a great job.

Vacancies: JO positions open in all departments.

Gamemaster: Robert Archer

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Sim Overview: The Merrimack has done excellent this past month! With speedy and quality posting that has seen the end of their current sim. The sim successfully ended with the crew fixing the anomalies in the timeline and on their ship. But at the cost of damage to their ship and to their benefactor Daniel the half human/ancient hybrid who died in the final moments.

Spotlight: I want to spotlight the whole crew due to their excellent roleplay this past sim.

FComm’s Comments: I would have liked to see more detail from the XO on their report but it is what it is. As mentioned the sim on the Merrimack is wrapped up and core roles filled, all in all they’re in good shape for their next sim!

Oed V

Commanding Officer: Russell Watt

Crew Posting Level: 6
Senior Staff Posting Level: 4
Overall Ship Health: 5

Ship Status: I feel like a broken record. Things could be better, much better.

Things could also be much worse.

Thanks to the crew for keeping up with things.

I will do better this month, especially now that work things are in place.

Also, welcome to Rusty Boshankles as our new Smuggler.

Spotlight: The crew are posting.

They all need to be spotlighted.

Also, we turn 18 in July.

Vacancies: Government Departments
- Chamber of Commerce

Starfleet JOs

Civilians

Executive Officer: Sidney Parker

Crew Posting Level: 7
Senior Staff Posting Level: 7
Overall Ship Health: 7

Ship Status: OED itself is doing well with a lot of player sims going on. The Governor needs to be present more because he has been missing of late.

Spotlight: All the crew for posting in their own sim or ones created by others. Good work.

Vacancies:

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: OED is in an up and down patch of things, a few key players are active but there are still some lingering loas and awols cropping up so i’ll be keeping an eye on things this coming month closely to see this hopefully handled.

USS Olympic

Commanding Officer: No report submitted

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: No report submitted

FComm’s Comments: Olympic is retired so no reports, sad but it had to happen!

USS Wolverine

Commanding Officer: Terry Sullivan

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 8
Overall Ship Health: 8

Ship Status: Another good month for the Wolverine with over 200 posts!!!

As the Shore Leave for the crew wraps up, we have been given new orders from Adm. Frederic. She heads up a mysterious department of Starfleet and now has the Wolverine at her beck and call. The galaxy is filled with strange and wonderful, and oftentimes very powerful artifacts. If these artifacts fall into the wrong hands, who knows what chaos and anarchy will erupt throughout space. With that being said, the Wolverine has been tasked with finding and containing these artifacts in an undisclosed secret warehouse to keep them safe. The only problem is we don’t know when or where these artifacts will pop up and what havoc they are capable of producing!!!!

And these artifacts may already in the hands of political or religious leaders of various societies throughout the galaxy. How do you tell a religious leader you have to confiscate a treasured holy item without causing an interstellar incident” Yeah, that’s what the Wolverine is up against!!! Good thing the crew is captained by a former master thief!!

As a crew, we may have to raise our collective Charisma score to obtain these objects!!!

Spotlight: A big reason for the upturn in posts has to do with Melissa Aragon, who has recently come on board as out Counselor and a junior engineering officer (someone’s gonna give Petrov a run for his money)!! She is involved in many of the current threads on the ship and is never afraid to jump into anything. She’s been a definite plus to the ship.

Vacancies: All DH positions are filled and we have at least on JO in SCI, ENG, and SEC. The biggest need would be at least one MED JO, but I’m willing to take JO’s in other departments, as well. All you need to do is ask!

Executive Officer: No report submitted

Gamemaster: Jason Lee

Crew Posting Level: 8
Senior Staff Posting Level: 6
Overall Ship Health: 7

Sim Overview: Warehouse 13 Star Trek cross over:

An artifact was discovered that attempted to kill the Captain. They are on the hunt for more clues.

Spotlight:

FComm’s Comments: XO is not excused, but otherwise the sim seems active as is the crew so we’re in good shape for the next month!
