Proposal: Modifications to OGRE

I just did a quick count, and while not every ship currently has a GM, a member who is a licensed GM is on every ship. Most have two or more. I wonder if the licensed GM list is usable enough to find out who those people are? Off topic but another thing to consider.

I think this is very much an issue. I don’t know that people, especially new members, know how to find out if someone is a licensed GM.

There is a list available for this. It has a link to it on the GM Department MOTD, but it could be made clearer than it is currently.
The list is here: https://www.star-fleet.com/gmd/archive/gm.php. The link to that list is currently just GM and is within the Archive box on the MOTD.
Maybe it could be made clearer that the link takes members to the list of licensed GMs to assist COs/XOs/FComms in finding a licensed GM who may be willing and able to step up to the plate.

So. My thoughts.

I’m all for a time-active limit. Not a time-in-club. People could sign up, get through the academy, AWOL for 3+ months and then come back and (theoretically) become a GMT immediately upon returning.

I understand the point of the rank limit, but I also know why it’s in place: as a full lieutenant it’s assumed you (mostly) know to keep people active, manage keeping people active with side sims, etc etc. However I’m game for dropping it.

As for GMM, here’s what I propose:

A GMM need to be a full GM as normal, have been active in the club in the last 30 days, and have GM’d on a ship in the past [time].

Where [time] is whatever is decided on, I’d want to day 6 months, but then that hurts some people, and 1 year might seem too long.
