So, while everyone else is debating whether or not this should be a thing, I’m going to look at the actual charter proposal.

The Viking is allowed to change her fleet and her class without being decommissioned as an Alt RPG. To continue as an Alt RPG, the USS Viking must maintain the standards set out by FCOMM for a Standard Ship while also maintaining a horror/supernatural theme.

This doesn’t work as an opening paragraph. It begs the question, “What is the Viking?” You need to state that the USS Viking, NCC-88750, Viking-class is being recommissioned as a horror/supernatural themed alt-RPG, bare minimum, for this to read like an actual charter. Strangely, with that small modification, the rest works.

The USS Viking will be structured the same as a Standard Ship, and be commanded by a CO and XO who are appointed the same way as on a Standard Ship and a GM who is appointed in the same way as on a Standard Ship. CO and XO positions on the USS Viking will count fully toward any limits in place and IC ranks will count toward a member’s player rank as on a Standard Ship. New members will only be placed on the USS Viking if specifically requested by the new member.

Given the nature of new player placement, is this something that would need to be added to the new member application? Correct me if I’m wrong, but alt-RPGs are traditionally second character only specifically because they diverge heavily from canon. The idea there is to let new players get a feel for the mechanics of RPing in STF in general before doing something even more specific.

As a horror/supernatural ship, the USS Viking is not bound by the established Star Trek canon. Players may select characters, abilities, and technology from non-canon and custom sources, with the approval of the CO. These freedoms must be treated responsibility and they are allowed with the sole reason of enabling the horror/supernatural environment. FCOMM restrictions regarding God characters, canon characters, and so on are still in place.

The current CO and crew of the USS Viking are retained in their current positions aboard the ship and grandfathered in under the ship’s previous status as a Standard Ship. There will be no review period as the USS Viking currently has a healthy roleplaying environment and it has functioned as a horror/supernatural ship successfully.

Under the ship’s what?

Just a few thoughts.

It did get cut off somehow. I’ve corrected it above with what Amanda had shared with me.
