Sorry for the delay in replying to this Cale some of it brought up some rough memories for me. I’ll try to answer though to the best of my abilities.

Hello election peeps (that’s you guys!) and sorry for the sheer length of this question. It is in two parts.

Part 1) I wanted to do the whole what are your strengths sort of thing but I was pondering how best to do this and instead decided that asking you guys to do a SWOT analysis was actually the best way I could think of. For anyone who doesn’t know a SWOT analysis is a planning technique used to help identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT). I will post the questions below but I have used this to structure this question slightly better so feel free to check it out. (https://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/newTMC_05_1.htm)

To perform a personal SWOT analysis write down answers to the following questions. (Or use the worksheet in the site found https://www.mindtools.com/worksheets/Personal_SWOT_Analysis_Worksheet.pdf)

Strengths

What advantages do you have that others maybe don’t have (for example, skills, knowledge, past roles, real life experience of leadership)?

I feel I am a fresher face then others with an open mind and generally good report in working with others.

What do you do better than anyone else?

I cant think of anything off hand related to stf that I do better then anyone else other then my willingness to do teamwork.

What personal resources can you access?

I’m not sure what youre referring to here? Could you clarify is this like money, or references etc?

What do other people see as your strengths?

Teamwork and a generally positive attitude.

Which of your achievements are you most proud of?

Creating the Mythology class explorer

What values do you believe in that others fail to exhibit?

Nothing I can think of off hand.

Weaknesses

What tasks do you usually avoid because you don’t feel confident doing them?

I usually try to do all tasks given to me to the best of my ability, rarely is there something specific I avoid outright.

What will the people around you see as your weaknesses?

Memory retention and understanding complex theory

Are you completely confident in your skills or knowledge about the club and it’s bylaws and mandates etc? If not, where are you weakest?

I’m confident in my skills in the club though given its sheer size of information I often need to rely on guidance by others for helping in some tasks

What are your negative work habits (for example, are you often late, are you disorganized, do you have a short temper, or are you poor at handling stress)?

I would say I do have some disorganizational problems.

Do you have personality traits that hold you back? For instance, if you have to conduct meetings on a regular basis, a fear of public speaking would be a major weakness.

Nothing related to STF that I can think of.

Opportunities

What help could you get from others around the club?

I often will reach out to others when I need help to recall something or advice, memory retention is a major hurdle I frequently have to overcome

Do you have a network of people to get advice from? And will you utilise this in your role as president or veep?

Yes, and yes I would.

What trends do you see in the club atm, and how can you take advantage of them or use them to make changes?

I see a steady sustaining club body that will allow us to focus on the framework of the site with EXODUS

Is there a need in our club that no one is filling or doing? If so what is it and how will you identify and then address it?

Nothing specific, but I do feel a shift in club culture to be more open minded and working together from the top to the bottom levels of stf would help. I believe by displaying such and leading by example this can be one step towards making such a change.

What do you think is the thing club members complain about the most ? And how will you create an opportunity by offering a solution?

Not being heard or reconized for efforts, as part of our plans for club engagement we will step up advertising things club members try to bring to the table in activities.

Threats

What obstacles do you think you will face as Prez or veep?

Personally I feel I will face challenges in matters of established policies that I may have forgotten and need more time to reach out to someone for clarity.

What areas are you really not sure about that you will need to ask for help in?

Bills and Bylaw policy formats

Could any of your weaknesses lead to threats?

Threats directly? I dont think so for a longer term sense but for a short term moment possibly? I’m not sure I generally try to accommodate my shortcomings before they become a ‘threat’ to whatever i’m doing.

Part 2- Leadership

According to Daniel Goleman there are six styles of leadership, results.

Visionary — mobilize people toward a vision.

Coaching — develop people for the future.

Affiliative — create emotional bonds and harmony.

Democratic — build consensus through participation.

Pacesetting — expect excellence and self-direction.

Commanding — demand immediate compliance.

Which style do you think you are and why?

Democratic, I think this because it most reflects how I work doing things.

Finally what world leaders (past or present) do you admire most and why?

Thank you!

Cale

I cant think of any particular world leader I admire most
