This question is for anyone.
Today I talked about a vision of the future with someone. What the future could have been, what it still could be. It was a kind of verbal tapestry that I had woven with the express purpose of making that person feel as though they were actually there in that future, experiencing it as their own present. After I had finished talking, they uttered a single word:
“Bold.”
I was just thinking about this moment and I realized that yes, it was bold, and part of what I liked about that conversation is that I was in part, describing myself doing something boldly. Then I realized, I haven’t done something boldly in quite a while. That despite being part of a community that is focused on people who Boldly Go places, I have been sinking in a quicksand of petty minor details. I miss being bold.
This is a needlessly narcissistic way of prefacing the following question: When was the last time you did something boldly? Tell us a story of how you did something bold.
