This question is specifically for Rob.

In your latest headquarters post you stated this:

“To that end the 2nd part of Engagement is the common theme of mentoring. To Louis and I mentoring is just as an important part of this club’s structure as simply roleplaying. Without training new minds to positions higher up then CO, XO, etc the club could stagnant when older hats don’t take up such positions or retire from the club. To this end Louis and I would take a closer eyed view of how FComms and Cabinet directors are doing things to train where possible and look at the efficiency of a department or fleet to see if stream lining anything could be done.”

I know you had a Quality Mentorship policy when you ran in 2015. What, if any, specific actions did you take as President related to mentoring?

Adam W.

At the time Krys and I approached the various cabinet and FComms encouraging them to find new faces for roles where they could and then tried to encourage this down the chain of command. I believe we also looked at the mentorship program but my memory is a little fuzzy on those details and I dont have them handy anymore from that time.

I generally assume that anytime a Presidential candidate brings up mentorship as part of their platform that they will do nothing about mentorship. That isn’t always true, but from what I have observed it has appeared to happen more than once since I’ve been here.

I also assume that anytime a candidate brings forth a vague plan that nothing will happen. To me that’s what this seems like, but perhaps I just don’t understand your plan well enough.

You have one sentence here about the action that would be taken and I’m having trouble imagining it happening. What are the all the specific steps involved in taking this closer-eyed view and turning it into action that yields results? The goal you have is great, but I would like to be convinced that it’s one you would achieve if elected.

Adam W.

The idea is that by setting specific expectations of mentoring that the fcomms or cabinet would follow through and apply this then to who’s below them, a trickle down effect as it were. This then would be looked at month to month by Louis and I to see its effects, and then apply a progress report when it shows fruition or if it is causing problems.

Does this explain things more?

Robert Archer

Not really.

What specific expectations are you going to set?

How will you respond when those expectations are not met?

How does one “look” at this month to month?

Adam W.

Bump for Rob if you’d like to answer these.

Adam W.
