As a recently returning member (one you’ll all be thankful to know is ineligible to vote) I’m interested to see that most of the candidates and running mates have experienced leaving and returning to STF.

I would love to hear from those returning members in this election:

What changes were you glad to see?
What did you wish had stayed the same?
What did you wish had changed?
What were you glad had stayed the same?

Feel free to answer as you like, don’t feel you have to take each question in turn as above.

Hi Wail! I don’t think we ever overlapped, so it’s a pleasure to meet you, and to see you returning to the club.

Right off I can tell you I would have loved to see more familiar names. It shouldn’t surprise me that few from that early era are still around, but it would have been nice! Though, each of the tickets in this election has someone who joined the club in the 20th century!

I wish the Titania was still around, because she’ll always be close to my heart, and that we had more fast ships like her in service. I guess not everyone is insane though hahaha.

I was so glad to see the EDept had become a much less combative/confrontational space. One of my last government positions was as EDir, and every day refereeing that was torture.

At the same time I do wish we had developed a better system than the Milwaukee Plan/Modern Navy Plan for developing ships. It eventually leads to fairly cookie cutter designs.

I was ecstatic to see EGO - trying to institute or come up with some kind of check on the President was a huge undertaking that always led to arguments, so to see something actually got done about it was incredible.

I kinda miss the Fleet numbers! The nicknames were just that originally, nicknames; heck Fifth Fleet during my tenure as FComm-5 was “The Who Needs a Nickname Fleet” (there had been several very bad versions in use before I took over). I understand why - having a 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 6th Fleet without 2nd and 4th is kinda strange.

Also - the animal nicknames took me by surprise lol.
