Office of the Election Coordinator - Election Timetable

Posted Oct. 27, 2019, 2:51 p.m. by Rear Admiral Daniel Lerner (Election Coodinator) (Daniel Lerner)

November 2019 Election Timetable

All events are at 12:00 pm EST unless stated otherwise

November 2: Nominations open

November 9: Nominations close

November 16: Voting opens and endorsements may be posted on the Election Ship

November 23: Voting closes and results are announced. If there were more than two tickets on the first ballot, a second round of voting will open for the two tickets with the highest votes from the first found.

November 30 (if necessary): Second round of voting closes and results are announced.

December 1 at 2:00 pm EST: New Presidential term begins. The Executive washroom keys will be formally handed over at that time on the Events channel on Discord.

As Election Coordinator, I note at least one irregularity with this Election Timetable. Specifically, there is less than two weeks between my appointment as Election Coordinator and the start of the election. As per the LEGOE bylaw, I have considered the irregularity and do not believe it to violate the integrity of the election. The result of the irregularity is that members have only half of the required minimum formal notice that an election was coming up. However, I believe most members familiar with the election process - to the extent they may consider running - would have been aware that an election was going to start at the beginning of November.

An additional irregularity is that this timetable was only posted in the Election Ship and the Election Ship MOTD six days prior to the start of the election instead of the required seven days, due to the delay in my appointment which delayed the opening of the Election Ship. Due to the my above-noted reasoning, and that the timetable was posted in Command seven days prior to the start of the election, I do not believe this irregularity will violate the integrity of the election.

If any potential candidate believes they have not had sufficient time between my appointment as EC and the beginning of the election, they may contact me privately and I will consider each situation on a case-by-case basis.

Daniel Lerner
Election Coordinator
