In the 15 months I have been a member of STF, I have had nothing but positive experiences with Jerome and James. As a new member and through present day, they have never failed to make me feel welcomed and appreciated.James was one of my earliest mentors in the club, and patiently answered many of my questions both about the logistics of the site and the nuances of roleplay in STF. He was always forthright with information I needed to know and also incorporated words of encouragement that boosted my confidence during those awkward few months of figuring out my place in the club. His ship, the USS Manhattan, was the first that I actively sought out after the academy, and he welcomed me with open arms. Since then, James has actively encouraged me to pursue placements on new ships and in a variety of roles, and acknowledged my successes even as a little JO on his ship. James has always made me feel heard, valued, and supported.
I met Jerome when my cadet character was assigned to the USS Dresden after graduating from the Academy. In the year since this assignment, the Dresden has become my favorite RP environment in the club, in no small part due to Jerome’s leadership as CO until very recently. When I noticed that the Dresden was without a CNS, I reached out to Jerome to apply for the spot, and he was immediately supportive of the idea. He took a chance on a member with less than a year of experience in the club to be a CNS, and I am forever grateful that he gave me the opportunity to write my favorite character I have in the club. He created an atmosphere of excitement and warmth that, like James, made me feel valued and supported. In recent transitions on the Dresden, I have become the XO, an opportunity I felt comfortable accepting because of the support I received from Jerome during his time on the command staff.
As a newer member who is a bit intimidated by the ‘politics’ of STF, I was hesitant to get involved in this election. But I thought it was important to share the experiences I have had with Jerome and James during my short time here, as I think their actions demonstrate a commitment to making newer members, like me, feel like they belong. They have shown active excitement for my participation and encouraged me to get engaged more deeply with STF, which has solidified the club as a major part of my life.
It is my belief that Jerome and James will continue to uplift others as they have uplifted me. This is evidenced by their proposal to create a diversity and inclusion taskforce, something that I think is very important for online communities such as this one, especially in times like these. I look forward to the positive energy and atmosphere Jerome and James will bring to the STF government. Therefore, I endorse Jerome and James for President and Vice President, respectively.

Humbled doesn’t begin to cover the feelings I had reading you endorsement of James & I’s ticket. I thank you for your candor and your willingness to support our efforts toward a diverse & inclusive community here at STF.
