Okay! We’re going to have a little fun with these prompts again (hopefully). Can’t wait to see what people come up with!

Today’s prompt: Write a super short story (under 200 words) involving one of your favourite STF character and a visit to Quark’s (or another bar/lounge type place on a station).

“Dabo!”

As if the feigned pleasure of the girl at the wheel was not enough, the clattering of gold pressed latinum strips made Arthur’s victory all the more obvious.

Quit while you’re ahead, he thought, and promptly decided to do just that. One of the Ferengi seemed already prepared with a sack, and the process of bagging the last ten rounds of winnings was both expedited and efficient. With that completed and the prize in his custody he promptly strode toward the exit in his usual no-nonsense fashion. His experiment having been more than successful, he was naturally intercepted at that point by the proprietor.

“Hew-mon.” The words came out of the all too toothy mouth with a smile, but Arthur knew what the real intent here was. “Might I interest you in…”

“No,” came the verbal parry. Thus the encounter ended immediately after it began, with Arthur never breaking stride as he continued to his final destination of the nearest transporter pad.

Meanwhile, the Ogawa’s gravimetric sensors continued to be noticed by absolutely nobody, as they had been for the entire time Lieutenant Nelson had been on the vessel. Finally, Arthur learned how to enjoy that.

Joe

I love this so much. We need more of Nelson. lol.
