With just a few things left to complete, Jasmijn was starting to feel a weight begin to lift off of her shoulders. However, she didn’t let it sleep completely away, well aware there were still things she needed to get done. Checking off her meeting with the Captain, she moved on to dealing with the boarding physical. It was always interesting, having to go through the procedure, and all of the questions that followed because of her hybridcy. Part of her just hoped, deep down, it wouldn’t be as difficult as the last.

With the amusement of that thought heavy upon her mind, DeVries stepped into the medical bay, her stance less than amicable, but far more than hostile, perhaps the common denominator for Klingon behaviour. Surveying the bay, she searched for any available doctor, but knew better than to interrupt them, if they were busy with a patient. Her needs were futile in comparison to those in the bay, already. After all, she was a healthy officer just waiting for a doctor to confirm that hunch, they actually had valid reasons for being there.

Staying off to the side, she observed the doctors and other medical officials, in effort to understand a bit more about the crew she would be working with. She wanted nothing more than to have just a tidbit of background, before suddenly finding herself placed among them, without any idea as to who they were. Contentedly, she watched, that silence once more catching up with her.

“Yes… What is it…?” Kalitta asked DeVries not noticing the pips on her collar. Kalitta moved towards an empty bio bed, indicating DeVries to follow. “You appear to be in good health, what seems to be the issue?”

“I wish it were that simple,” DeVries chuckled at her comment, visualizing how easy a physical might be if a doctor could take one look and clear someone for duty.

It was only when Kalitta turned to see if her new patient was following did she notice the pips. “You must be the new XO. Please have a seat and let me have a look at you.”

Following close behind, DeVries nodded. “That would be me, Doctor.” She smiled, taking a seat at the indicated biobed. “My name is Jasmijn DeVries, you must be Doctor Kalitta, yes?” She spoke, noticing her own pips, albeit she only knew the names of the Department Heads and the Captain, she hadn’t the time to discover any of the others, yet.

“Well allow me to be among the first to welcome onboard the Ark Angel.” When the XO took her seat Kalitta started to scan DeVries. “Tell me a little about yourself Commander, are there any medical issues that I should be immediatly aware of? Any alergies, recent surgeries. Child hood illness.”

“Thank you,” Jasmijn returned, waiting for the scan to be completed. The scans would show she was not ill in any way, her physical health perfectly normal, for someone of her species.

As she continued the medical exam Kalitta began to reminess about the last XO Commander Cocherane. She had a romantic intrest that she had a hard time shaking.

“There are no incidents to report. Beyond scrapes and scars from my time with the Marines, I can’t say I’ll offer you much of a medical mysery, Doctor.” She mused, shaking her head. “What about you, Commander?” She inquired, “But instead of medically, just in general. I doubt I’ll be able to keep up with medical ramblings.” She wished to know more about the department heads, and really anyone aboard the ship.

DeVris was correct that Kalitta would not find anything of note on the tricorder. It appeard as though she was in top form. Kalitta then put her tricorder away and took a seat on the stool near the bio bed.

“Well my story is a long and complicated one. So I’ll keep it simple. I started out on Kronos as one of the top Xinobiologists in the capital. I was also studying to be a doctor when the Klingon councle selected me to partake in a joint mission with starfleet in the Sklar system. Once the mission was complete the councle made me a permininat ambassador to the federation.”

Kalitta paused thinking about her past. She didn’t often reflect about her past.

“I was the ambassador to the federation for 10 years, before I desided to resign my commission with the klingon empire. I then took some upgrading courses to become a full fledged Doctor at the academy. Upon my completion the federation reconized my previous rank in the klingon empire and immediatly promoted me to Lieutnant. Since then I have served on many ships such as the Valkerie and the Rogue. It saddenes me some that those ships are no longer around.”

“I was eventually promoted to Lt.Commander and placed on the Ark Angel as its Chief Medical Officer. That’s my basic story. If you want more you will have to meet me in the lounge and talk more over some blood wine. I have a few barrels of 2330 left in storage.”

Lt.Cmdr - Kalitta - CMO

“Nothing sounds better than a glass of blood wine,” Jasmijn grinned. She bore human in her blood, a much softer and sensitive race, but she still wore her Klingon on her sleeve, proud of her heritage. “You have had quite the life, Kalitta, I can only imagine it brought you incredible experience– and times when you wanted to hurl someone through the wall,” She thought about Kalitta’s time with the Federation as an Ambassador, and how insufferable diplomats could be. Especially when they didn’t get there way. Alas, there was a reason she had been a soldier, not a diplomat. “I hear the Valkarie was a ship to be told of, but I haven’t heard much about the Rogue. Perhaps you’ll have to give me some insight over that blood wine, and more to your story.” A grin came across her features, almost animalistic, but what else was to be expected? “How long have you been with the Ark Angel?”

Lt. Cmdr. DeVries
XO

“Truth is that I have not been on the Ark Angle for very long. Only 6 months. So for the ship has been quiet, but I know that it won’t last. It never does.

How does tomorrow evening at the end of Beta shift for that blood wine?
