Main Sim - Sickbay - Prepping for wounded

Posted Feb. 24, 2019, 7:12 p.m. by Fleet Captain Drudoc Andone (CO) (Robert Archer)

[snip]

Their discussion got interrupted by a comm call from Transporter room 3 =/\= Chief Irons to sickbay 1, prepare for the first round of injured, scans show a slew of internal injuries. ETA 2 minutes till we’re in range and beaming cycles complete..=/\= He said.

=/\= Understood Chief, Sickbay is ready for the incoming wounded. =/\=

Stepping in just after the comm finished, Roux made her way over to the Chief. “Need an extra pair of hands?” She inquired, nodding to Doctor Trax.

“Delarosa, yes thank you. Can I get you on Triage. Determining which of the wounded are in the most need of medical attention. There are tags at every bio bed. Red is Critical, Blue moderate, Green minor, and black Deceased. For the critical just holler at Trax or myself and we will come to that individual immediately.”

“Sure thing, doc.” Roux might be a trained psychiatrist, but it didn’t take a genius to see who was in need to greater assistance than the next. Glancing over at the biobed, she nodded, checking a nearby chronometer to figure out about how much time until injured started to pile into the Sickbay.

Kalitta looked at Delarosa and seen that she may be a little nervous. “The away team should be just about ready to beam over the the ships. I’m sure they will be sending the injured to us shortly. Depending on what kind of welcoming they get.”

“I should doubt their welcome will include a generous peace offering and some tiramisu.” Roux mused, offering a little light in their situation.

Kalittia continued with her compound manufacturing while she waited for the injured to arrive. “I must admit, I’m a little surprised that the captain didn’t want Trax or myself over on one of the ships to assist with the injured.”

“You know, that is a curious thought.” Roux remarked, “Perhaps she thought you’d both be better helping patients where you had all the tools to give them the best possible treatment.”

=/\= Beaming the first round of injured to you now Sickbay..=/\= came the chief’s reply

On 8 biobeds the human like Yelleks came into being from local transport. The first three seemed to have been collectively near something heavy that had fallen and showed a myriad of broken bones and bleeding externally, the next two showed plasma burns from a fire, the last three were the worst in condition has they had inhaled it seems the smoke and heat of said fire more then the previous two. Internal scarring showed their lungs were burned internally and were in a deep form of shock.

Once the injured materialized onto the bio beds, Kalitta jumped into action. She went to the bio bed on the far right as the patient there seemed to be in one of the worst conditions. “My name is Kalitta I am the Chief Medical officer onboard this vessel we are here to help you all.” Assuming the patient was in extreme pain Kalitta took the hypospray and pressed it against the Yelleks neck. As it hissed the patient appeared to relax somewhat.

Kalitta looked at the readings on the bio bed screen. “ghuy’!” Kalita swore in her own language. “Counsellor I’m going to need you to bring that ECMO machine from over in the corner. Nurse Hammond, I need you to prep the central line. This patient is going to die if we don’t act quickly. She is going into RDS (Respiratory Distress Syndrome) from the inhalation of the burning fumes.” While nurse Hammond prepped the central line Kalitta intubated the patient.”

“On it!” Roux quickly scuffled off to retrieve the machine. Within a few moments, she had managed to bring the ECMO machine over from the corner and to Kalitta.

Once the counsellor brought the ECMO machine Kalitta connected it to the central line and breathed a brief sigh. “She’s no where out of the forest yet but I believe that she is beginning to stabilize.” Kalitta then began to look over the woman in greater detail. “She’s a damn mess. Nurse Hammond, I need you to start cleaning out these burns. Try to get as much of the burnt clothing out, and remove as much of the burnt flesh as you can. I’m going to move on to the others.”

Kalitta then looked towards Trax. “Trax, hows your patient doing?”

Roux had watched what the doctor ordered her nurse to do, turning her head she glanced over at Trax and his patient, before heading towards one of the patients that seemed.. less critical.

More NE’s began to assist the burn and injured Yellk people thankfully too many were out of it and confused to protest the aliens helping them. Sickbay 1 soon devolved into ordered chaos of cries for help or pained yelps, etc.
