Kalitta decided to forgo the standard Klingon outfit that she wears while off duty, for a more comfortable white cotton outfit that allows for greater movement. She picked up her bat’leth that was hanging on her wall and walked down the corridor greeting her fellow crew members as she made her way down to the recreation room. Once there she set up the padded mats.

Once the mats were down Kalitta began her stretching routine while waiting for the others to arrive.

Oscar stooped into the training room. He saw Kalitta stretching out on the mats, He walked over to a spare mat and slowly began stretching himself.
“Commander. I decided to take you up on the training session. Where do you want me?”

Kalitta smiled, her yellowish sharpened teeth showing proversly. “Pick a spot anywhere on the mats, we will continue stretching for another ten minutes or so and then we will get on with the lesson.”

Myrok entered he saw the opponents and smirked” May I join you?”

“Come, Ensign, pick a spot and start stretching out. We will get on with the lesson shortly. We are just waiting to see if others will be joining us.”

Kalitta then started to move her hands slowly in front of her, making an ‘X’ All the movements she made were slow, deliberate, and fluid.

Kalitta stood up straight. “We have waited long enough. Have either of you had previous Martial Arts training?” She looked between her two students waiting for an answer.

“The difference between Mok’bara and many other Martial art forms is that it doesn’t rely on strength or brute force.” She then spread her feet apart shoulder distance apart and put her arms out in front of her slightly bent at the elbows. She then slowly moved her arms up and down from shoulder height down to hip level then back up. All the while being slow, fluidic and deliberate. “The closest martial art I have found to Mok’bara is the humans Tiachi.” She then turned to her students. “Now you try it.”

OOC: If you want to know what’s coming up in the lesson watch this Taichi clip. In my research on Mok’bara is mentioned a lot to be like Taichi so we will be following those lessons first. then we will move on to the batleth training.

Myrok did his own type stretch. He then turned to Kalitta and said “let’s see what you got”

Hill was tempted to be cliche but decided against cracking his knuckles and neck. Instead he mimicked Kalitta’s movements.

The movements felt smooth and oddly unnatural. “The speeding up of these moves provides a valid defence when attacked?” He asked in a soft tone and a look of concentration etched on his face.

Kalitta spread her feet apart, her front right foot was in front of her and bent at the knee while her left foot was behind her. “Today’s lesson is not on combat but on balance and control. You must first learn how to control each move slowly before you can speed it up for proper combat.” She then brought her arms in front of her once again and this time she began to rock back and forth and made a slow pushing movement with her open palms in front of her. “This move gives you great balance and strength against your opponent. It is meant to push them away from you.”

“Now we move together at the same time.”

Hill nodded, “I am used to my brute strength.” He said breathing out as he moved. “Using others strength and momentum against them is something that will be advantageous.”

Kalitta stood and began to walk around the two ensigns. “Don’t stop.” As she walked around Ensign hill she noticed a few things were off in his form. “Widen your stance, and square up your shoulders.” She then took a good look at how Myrok was doing. His form was nearly perfect but he looked like he was concentrating too much. “Clear your mind, calm your inner self. Only when you have a clear mind and a calm inner self can you clearly see your opponent’s true intentions and next move. This is how you learn to preserve and anticipate.”

Hill nodded and adjusted as he was told to do. “Like this?” He asked moving his legs slightly.

Kalitta said nothing but gave an aproving nod.

“Now back to stance one. Feet shoulder width apart, hands starting at your hips and slowly bring your hands up to shoulder height.”

Hill breathed out as he moved, his new posture slightly better than before. He was still trying to understand the mechanics of the art form but he was confident it would make sense once it was sped up.

Kalitta moved in front of Hill and just stared at him. He does have an imposing size. she thought. HIs movements were just what she was looking for. She then with no hesitation moved to punch Hill in the gut but was blocked by the Mok”bara move. “Very good Ensign.” Kalitta then tried the same move on Myrok, and was once again blocked by the defensive move.

“As you can tell this is a very effective move against your enemies. ”

Kalitta then moved to her spot and was facing the mirrors just like the Ensigns. “Time to move on to Something that is a little more advanced.” Kalitta then spread her feet shoulder width apart had her arms extended just like before but this time she raised one of her legs and arms at the same time. The opposite hand moved towards the elbow and the other hand went up and protected the face. Kalitta almost looked like the creature on earth called a praying mantis. The leg in the air looked like it could kick forward at any moment. She then slowly lowered the leg and hands at the same time and then did the same move with the opposite leg and hands.

“This move allows you the option of both protection and strike.” She then turned to the ensigns. “Now you try.”

Hill watched Kalitta, then assumed the positions and movements she had taken. To Hill it felt uncomfortable. He breathed deep, He felt his balance was a little bit off he could his ankle leaning to the left under his weight.

Kalitta noticed that Hill was a little off balance in the mirror. Without turning around she explained how he could improve his balance. “Ensign Hill, you should engage your abs when you bring your leg and arms up. Not only does it improve your balance but it helps if you are ever attacked. Imagine bringing your belly button to your spine. Make those muscles nice and tight.”

Kalitta engaged her abb muscles and began to punch her own stomach hard. “See the harder they are the better it is to take a hit.”
