Starr stood outside the counselor’s office and took a breath before hovering his finger of the chime to indicate his presence. Once again he would have to talk about his brother, his family, his past. It never got any easier, but at least Starr had become familiar with the unknown in the process. He sighed, and thought that it would be better to just get this out of the way than to leave it hanging for too long, and pressed the chime on the door to the counselor’s office.

OOC: Hiya! We currently don’t have a CNS. So, I’ll have the XO drop by instead. :D

IC: Delarosa’s departure had been abrupt. One minute she was tending to the insecurities of the Ark Angel, and the next she was on an emergency shuttle to Earth. DeVries knew fully Roux’s devotion to her family, a sudden surge of sickness more than enough to chase her back to France, where Jasmijn knew she would be needed the most. Unfortunately, her warningless departure left them with a gap in the roster, leaving new officers to fend without the psych evaluation. Sighing, Jasmijn had decided to run by Delarosa’s office and make sure it was ready for the next counselor. What else was there to do on her break?

Rounding the corner, Jasmijn was surprised to find a young Ensign standing outside the office door, an unreadable expression laden his face. “I’m afraid you won’t get an answer,” DeVries approached, shaking her head. “We’re in between counselors at the moment.”

“Lieutenant Commander DeVries,” Jasmijn offered a hand, a crooked smirk attempting friendliness. She did not recognize the man, but she knew they were to be receiving an officer from the Academy soon. She went out on a limb to assume this was him. “You must be the new security Ensign.”

Looking at the pips on the XO’s collar, he nodded “Oh, yes sir, or do you prefer ma’am?” he responded and asked in a southern British accent.

“I’m indifferent,” Jasmijn shrugged her shoulders, her slight Dutch accent slipping into her words. “Whichever suits your fancy.”

“I came to get my psychological exam. Will I have to wait for the next counsellor before I am able to get it, or is there someone with the relevant training already aboard that could get me ready for duty?” Starr asked, not impatiently but in an effort to try and be cleared so that he didn’t have to wait around twiddling his thumbs until someone cleared him for duty.

Ensign Simon Starr, Security

“Hmm..” Jasmijn considered his dilemma. Psychological evaluations were pertinent to the boarding process, but without a counselor it could not be done. Suddenly, an idea popped into her head. “Come with me, Ensign. I do believe there is a way to get around your little obstacle.” A toothy grin dashed across scarred lips. With a wide gesture, DeVries set off down the corridor.
