”..We need to stabilize the core in the next 5 Shelleks or its going to need to be dumped…” The one Yellek said who seemed to be the leader of the groups nearby. “..Sensors though for the readouts on the fusion reactors are offline so we cant see whats wrong..”

“Are you able to perform an emergency stop on your fusion reactor that’s powering your batteries ..? Does it have any control rods to insert into the core?” Chris dumped his gear and started looking through one of his boxes for a container. It might be a stop gap at best, but it could either slow down or even halt the fusion reaction. However .. getting it started again would be a different story.

=^=DeVries to Lieutenant Emmitt. Report; how’s the Yellek core holding up? Any changes?=^=

Lt. Cmdr. DeVries
XO

As Chris was listening to the Engineers he had pulled out his tricorder and was scanning the reactor getting some quick data before deciding his next action as her communication came through. He quickly tapped his comm badge, but continued his work unphased.

=^= Emmiit here, summary short, but the fusion reactor powering these batteries is in bad shape, not sure how long Five Shellecks is, but I’d say we don’t have long and we might have to eject the core. I have one thing I could try, but I’m not sure how far along the cascade reaction is Commander. =^=

Lt. (jg) Chris Emmitt (CE)

=^=What do you have in mind, Lieutenant?=^= Her voice patched through after a long pause of contemplation. =^=We’ve have transporter locks on your team and the Yellek crew. If your best bet is ejecting the core, we need to start evacuation of the crew, now. Time is of essence, and we don’t have much of it.=^=

=^= Well .. thankfully we had their ideas ahead of time so I thought ahead as well .. I brought a container of Argon gas just in case which should start to cancel the reactions within the reactor due to the heavy ions colliding with the electrons to slow ..” =^= He was getting off track and didn’t have too much time to explain so he cut it short.

=^=I understand how Argon gas works, Lieutenant. Your point being?=^= Jasmijn urged, time not a creature she wanted to trifle with.

=^= “The gas will either slow or stop the cascade Commander. Worst case, we’ll have time to evacuate everyone and clear the area, but I’m sure it would be a huge loss for them if they lose the ship ..” =^= He sort of continued, but it was very quiet, ” =^=Not to mention I wouldn’t get to see the rest of it ..” =^=

=^=We have enough room to accommodate them for a short while, if worst comes to worst, Lieutenant.=^= Jasmijn assured over the comms, =^=Keep up the work, Emmitt. Hopefully that Argon gas can stay its containment. Keep us apprised, bridge out.=^=

Tiglath watched with concern, but so far this conversation wasn’t in his wheel house. A thought occured to him though, if the ship would need to be evacuated, then he could see if there were any wounded or civilians nearby that needed to go. It would also give him a chance to look around.

“I’ll go check around and see about an evacuation.” He mentioned to Chris then proceeded to walked down a nearby corridor looking around, keeping an eye on anything suspicious, any wounded that may have been missed, or anyone that may otherwise need help.

“Sounds good! It wouldn’t hurt to be ready for it just in case ..” As patiently could, he waited for the results of his scan and left the tricorder scanning on a nearby panel while he pulled the container out of his bag labeled with a big ‘Ar’ written on the side of it. He also pulled out a hose and some clamps out of the bag and well and brought it around to the reactor just in case looking for a place to attach it to. Not being able to immediately find one he asked one of the nearby Engineers, “Where’s the input valve for the reactor??”

After some assistance from a nervous looking Engineer Chris quickly hooked up the gas to the valve, ensuring that the clamps were tightened down adequately. Last thing they needed was something coming back and out through that hose. He turned the valve to allow the gas through at a steady rate, slowly continuing to turn it and allow more gas to flow in.

Several shudders went through the ship and sparks spewed from a nearby panel. Scans though showed the fusion reactors were slowly coming within alignment and stability. “..Looks like whatever you guys did stabilized the generators..” He said.

Chris shifted to the left instinctively as the small explosion occurred nearby, shielding his face with his arm. With a quick look to make sure his uniform wasn’t on fire or anything he patted himself down just to make sure. He continued to open the valve until it was all the way open before grabbing his tricorder again to monitor the reactions. “Yep .. looks like it’s slowly coming back.. we’re not out of danger yet though. We all know how reactors can be. If you have any civilians aboard or anyone that needs to be off the ship, you can probably transport them to ours. It’ll keep everyone safe until we’re sure the reactions are under control.” He kept his hand on the gas valve to shut it off once the reading were in certain parameters. He just wanted to bring the reactions back into control for now and not drown out the reactions as a whole. He looked over towards where he saw his security counterpart before calling out, “Tiglath? Would you be able to help with bringing people over to the Ark Angel..?”
