Simon had a moment to himself to send a quick message home, he hadn’t got a chance to do that since he arrived, and he had promised he would get in contact with his parents when he was out of the academy.
“Computer, begin recording to be sent to Ryan and Amie Starr, Exeter, England.
Hi ma, Hi dad. I thought I’d get in contact and let you know I’ve finished my academy training. I’m on a starship now. There’s some chatter among the crew saying we’re going to be heading out so if I don’t get in contact for a while, I wanted to let you know why. Heading so far out, who knows what I’m going to find - maybe Tom went out pretty far, but I don’t know. Starfleet have been very helpful in helping me find him, looking at the ship he was posted on - it has been reported missing, my Security chief in the last year of the academy had mentioned that. I have to say, I don’t know if I’m going to like the answer - but we all deserve closer. If I find anything, I’ll let you both know as soon as I can.
So, now I’ve finished, I’ve been assigned on a Starship - oh I wish you could both see the view. I mean, it’s nice down on the farm, but the things I saw even on my cadet cruise were amazing. And I’ve made a few contacts while I was there - so there’s that…
I thought I’d get in contact in case this is the last time for a while, I love you both and hope everything is going well. Speak soon,
