Ranlei was on the biobed being treated when the CE showed up. Starr had told her this was the Ark Angel. Which meant this was her new home. And the man asking after a Engineer would be her new commander. She tried to sit up. Gasped as her ribs disagreed with the motion and fell back onto the biobed. The doctor likely had a few choice words for her.

She caught her breath and looked at Lt. Emmitt. “Sorry sir. Ranlei. Ensign. Engineering corps. Assigned to you on USS Ark Angel. Reporting in sir. I regret sir that I am presently unfit for duty. I regret sir that I can not explain why I am unfit at this time.”, she didn’t sound normal to her ears. There was a note of hysteria. And she felt that a worse first impression was likely impossible.

Ensign Ranlei. Engineer.

He shook his hands quickly in dismissal in front of him. “Stop, stop , stop, stop! It’s quite alright! As long as you’re okay, any sort of duty can wait.” Chris probably appeared more worse for worry than she was at her own injuries, mostly since he didn’t know the extent of them and didn’t want any unnecessary additional injuries to occur. “Just lay there and let Trax make sure you’re patched up, you’re definitely in good hands with him.” He looked around a bit, still not quite knowing the whole story. “Perhaps our Security Chief might know, but .. if you don’t mind me asking Ensign Ranlei, what all happened ..?”

Ranlei lay there with the doctor running the bone knitter over her ribs with each pass her breathing was a little less painful. The doctor administered another painkiller as she started speaking. “Sir I really wish I could tell you. I was in a bar. Woke up I’m in a eva suit No sound , viser dark and arms bound. “, she said and her German accent gets more pronounced as she speaks and emotion creeps in.

“I… um. Had a bad time. In the suit. Pain, and nothing but wild imaginings to keep me company sir. Kinda thought I was headed into a cage, and worse. “, and she shudders and tries to wipe tears from her eyes.

“Think I was stomped on at some point. The footprint is is at least a size twelve.” She said trying to pull her emotional state back together. And Ranlei’s uniform did have a smudged bootprint over where the doctor was passing the bone knitter. As well as various stains from having been on the floor of the bar. The bruise on her cheek was what wasn’t hidden by her ubiform and the deep green mottling drew the eye.

She blinked and sniffed and closed her eyes. “Ought to bottle that painkiller doc. Better then synthahol.”, and her thinking started to wander as she began to drift into a exhaustion and painkiller induced sleep.

Ensign Ranlei. Engineer.

Despite his somewhat timid demeanor as he walked in, he finished walking up and softly placed his hand toward her ankle and gave it a few light, hopefully encouraging, taps. “Don’t worry anymore, just rest. You’re safe now on the Ark Angel.”

After a moment he turned to the others and the doctor. “Trax, if you could.. could we sync up with the counselor to let them know about our new arrival? I want to make sure she’s okay, especially after going through something like that. She seems to be a tough one, that’s for sure.” He thought for a quick second before continuing, “Would we be able to follow up on what happened too? Perhaps an investigation might already be under way for something like this? Any idea Starr ..?” He looked over inquisitively, hoping there was something they could do about what happened to their now not missing officer.

OOC: Just thought of a way tie in the madness thread from here :)

Lt. Chris Emmitt (CE)

Simon nodded in answer to Chris’s question. “Once she’s recovered and reported in, I’ll see what I can find out. I’m also curious as to find out what’s going on and will look into it, sir” he replied “It’s not everyday we get a transfer treated like a prisoner,” he said as he turned from Sickbay and headed back to his office now that the immediate issue had been dealt with.
