Starr had started to get fully into his role as security chief, but felt that he needed a break from the bustle of the job. “Computer, load program Starr Alpha One” he said as the computer beeped to acknowledge the request. He then stepped into the holodeck. Entering the area he had loaded a program that began in the woods. The trees surrounded the area, apart from where the archway was to enter the holodeck, and he smiled. It had been a while since he had a good bit of fun. “Computer, Begin Program” Starr said into the air. The archway disappeared, and the sound of wind whistling in the trees began. The scene was serene, peaceful, and eerie all at the same time.

Lieutenant (J.G) Simon Starr, CoS

Ranlei slipped into the holodeck just before the arch closed. The status had read as open, which usually meant not in use but it was obvious a program was running and someone was in here. She recognised the types of trees as being from earth. The occupant had likely just stepped out of sight when she entered or was behind a tree. Ranlei snerked at herself as she definately was not dressed to match a spooky old forest. She was rather covered head to toe in a black lace club dress with cherry red accents and leggings in the 2086 retro gothic revival style. black gloves covered her hands and white facepaint hid her green skin completely. She didn’t feel welcome by this forest so she sat on a stump to contemplate why. And planned to leave before she was noticed once she had soaked in the atmosphere.

Simon was just wondering around the forest, about to activate the program when he heard the doors in the holodeck open. Heading over to where he knew the entrance to be, he saw Ranlei come in. Before Ranlei noticed, Simon was standing across the way from her coming out of the treeline. “Ah, Ensign. A pleasure, I was about to start a horror holonovel for a bit of fun. I was just wandering around the forest to make sure the atmosphere is all as… uncomfortable as it is here,” he said with a smile. “What do you think?” he asked.

Lieutenant (J.G) Simon Starr, CoS

OOC: Going to post in the CSO’s post because of the split thread

Although it had been a long shift, Iliana was surprisingly not tired. She decided that a bit of entertainment in the holodeck was in order. As she approached, she was surprised to find a programme running already. She briefly thought about going to one of the other holodecks but her curiosity got the better of her as she poked her head through the doors to see what was running.

Lt (jg) Kara (CSO)

Ranlei was on edge as the forrest was designed to miake a person uneasy to start with so Starr’s sudden appearance caused her to go arse over teakettle backwards off the stump she was sitting on and stare up at the security officer. “Think?”, she sputtered from her seat on the ground. “I think the brothers Grim could not of createxa greater horror than you just did.” Her Germanic accent thick as it tended to get when she was emotional. She sputtered a few words in German that the UT could not or refused to translate. Then sighed and laughed. “Vas hobgoblin do you have that is scarier than you sneaking about?”, she asked.

Ensign Ranlei. Engineer.

Simon smiled and said “Well, that could be one of a few different things, it’s different every time I run the programme. Keeps it interesting. Could be as simple as a feral Targ, sometimes it’s running “The chase of the Salt Vampire,” and some other stories based on old logs and novels, the computer decides which one each time I run it so right now… I don’t know,” he says with a smile. “That’s part of the fun though,” he says, wearing gear appropriate to hiking and forestry.

Then the CSO joined him “Well, looks like there are three of us. Should be interesting, so - who wants to find out what sort of horrors lie in the forest?” he asked with a very cheeky smile.

Lieutenant (J.G) Simon Starr, CoS

Ranlei picked herself up and sat on the stump again to temove her high heels and knee stockings which were actual black silk and would be ruined by marching about in a forest. Shexslipped thexshoes and stockings into pockets in her skirts that seemed designed to go unremarked upon if you didn’t know they were there. Then stood and looked at the CSO bemused, “Frau Science Oberleunent Kara.”, she greeted her. “I was expecting to go dancing but polezenoberleunent Starr has set us und fantasy outing.”, her facepaint and it’s overly emphasised semi smile actually fitting into a gothic theme even if the high heelsa nd stockings didn’t.

Ensign Ranlei. Engineer.

“Well, fantasy would be nice,” Simon responded, “But the computer has chosen one of a list of things in there, most of them nasty,” he said with a smile. “So what say we go search the forest for something scary?” he said with far too much enthusiasm.

Lieutenant (J.G) Simon Starr, CoS

Kara grinned and nodded. “Sounds good to me, lead the way Lt!” she chuckled, surprised by the rush of adrenaline she had thinking about monster hunting.

Lt (jg) Kara (CSO)

“Well, let’s see what the computer has in store for us this time. I did this once and it only gave me a Targ, easiest time,” Simon begins talking about other times his run this programme quietly, while leading the group on the monster hunt. He kept an eye out as he knew it could be anywhere, at any time, and he didn’t even know what it was. That was part of the challenge for himself though, to keep an eye out for anything that might give a hint as to what they were dealing with. After a little time of searching however, Simon put his hand up to stop the group, pointing to what looked like footprints on the ground. The footprints were about 3 foot in length and one and a half foot wide. “Looks like we’re dealing with something big,” Simon said quietly, “maybe if we get a higher vantage point, we might find what we’re looking for,” he suggested, as he started climbing a nearby tree.

Lieutenant (J.G) Simon Starr, CoS

Ranlei was not dressed to climb trees and barefoot as she was she was disinclined too try. “This is a horror story. And we seem to have evidence of a giant which usually eat people in folklore.”, she said her accent closer to normal as she had calmed down. She was wztching Simon climb semi amused as she concluded it was a better view than the trees or giant would provide. He might slip so she needed to watch him to help if he did she justified her blatent voyorism to herself. “So It seems we are due for the exercise you wanted lieutenent. We have no weapons so all we can really do is run from a giant. If we meet it.”, she said to Kara as she watrhed Simon climb higher.

Ensign Ranlei. Engineer.

Iliana smiled and nodded enthusiastically. “Indeed, I hope you can run fast!” she chuckled as she followed Simon up the tree, taking a look around as she climbed.

Lt (jg) Kara (CSO)

As Iliana climbed the tree, she could also see that Simon seemed to have spotted something, and quickly pointed it out as he heard the CSO climbing. What he pointed it was what looked like an ancient earth creature, about 40 feet long at 20 feet tall. A behemoth of a creature, which had arms that were far to oshort for its body, and it was charging across their view, but had not yet noticed them.

“Beautiful, isn’t it, the Tyrannosaurus Rex, one of the largest creatures to ever walk the planet Earth. Died millions of years ago, but recreated in here, huge thing. Also, probably one of the most dangerous to ever walk the Earth as well, with the exception of the period in our history between the 20th and 21st centuries,” he said with a slight shrug.

Lieutenant (J.G) Simon Starr, CoS

Philips walked into a hologram, “Computer,I would like a ‘medieval times’ type village, circa 16th century England.” Philips said. =^= Program is loaded, enter when ready =^= the computer voice said.

Ops. Officer

Ooc: Considering that continual efforts are made to improve holodeck safety. I think ordering the holodeck to overwrite a pre running program would fail as it creates a potentially dangerous situation as the tree ppl climbed disappeared and was replaced by a blacksmith shop. But we do see ppl add items to a existing program. So I am going to go with the programs merge together. Since this is a side sim I will take some liberties as usual void if ppl object.

Ic: The sudden appearance of a rustic village in front of the Running T- Rex was a sight the two in the tree could not miss. The T-Rex of course never noticed the change it did what A T-Rex would do if food was spotted. It tore into the village like a starving man into a buffet. The spooky woods were suddenly full of screams of horror and the noises of paniced animals Ra2nlei at the base of the tree saw none of this. “What’s going on?”, she called up the tree. Philips was at the enterance out of sight so as yet his enterance was unremarked upon.

Ensign Ranlei. Engineering.

OOC: I thought there were 2 holodecks (sorry)
“I’m sorry Ens., I thought this holodeck was not being used. Why was the safety controls disabled?” Philips said.
LT. JG Philips
Op[s. Officer

OOC: There are multiple holodecks Phillip but you should make your own thread in that case if you’re not joining this side sim in holodeck 2

Simon climbs back down off the tree he was up, having seen what they would be dealing with in this runthrough of his programme when the hatch opened. Checking the computer logs, the Safeties were still actually engaged and enabled. “You don’t want the holodeck safties disabled on what’s going on here, trust me,” Simon said with a smile as he jumped the final eightor so feet to the ground. His athletism impressive for a human, but the security chief knew how to keep fit, and his build suggested that he might even survive a fight with a Klingon. The ground shook a little bit as the behemoth of the creature began heading towards the group.

Simon knew they had a few miles on the T-Rex, so made a point of taking the initiative and looked to the rest of the group. “And we probably don’t want to stand about and hang out around here right now, let’s get a move on shall we, now it’s time for that excersise,” he said with a wide smile, and began running from the source of the noise, while looking for anything he might be able to use to at least delay the creature behind them.

Lieuteant (J.G) Simon Starr, CoS

Ranlei was moving into position to help Lt. Starr off the tree when he lept and landed, “ok then.” she said impressed at the Security Chief’s prowess and managing to get out of the way. She then prepared to help Kara down. But was equally prepared to dodge shold the Science chief show simular disregard for gravity and persolal well being.
“As the person most closely dressed as the damsel in distress. I will be expecting some help fleeing in abject terror from yon dragon.”, she said befoe Kara got near her. As Ranlei knew she would likey have a bit of a relapse of what had happened in the lounge earlier and would be a bit goofy at a point when she should be running .

Ensign Ranlei. Engineering.

Iliana chuckled as she let Ranlei help her down. “In which case I hope you’ve practiced your ‘damsel in distress’ scream?” she asked with a wink. “Lead the way Lt!” she added as she fell in line behind Starr, ready for a good cardio workout.
