Ranlei looked thoughtful. “Well it’s fortunate for you that someone in intelligence thought a Orion woman might make a good intelligence asset. Your also fortunate that after they trained me they realised the flaw in their assumptions. I realise your all under a strain and reacted to a threatening event and I am sorry for any bruised egos. It is fairly common for such devices to be linked to a timer so that they destroy themselves if they don’t report after a reasonable amount of time. So I needed answers imediately.”, she said her German accent fairly evident. “It is likely that it would of already destroyed itself if it wasn’t in stasis doctor. So good thinking there.”, and she looked over at Lt. Starr, “Did you happen to take the bomb disposal course in the academy or at any other time sir?

“Third year of my course, in fact,” Simon replied, taking a look over the device. “It doesn’t looked rigged to explode, but that doesn’t mean anything, just the act of scanning such a thing could be a trigger, but it should be safe in this stasis field, at least if it isn’t an EMP based device,” he said. Simon knew that the ship had better equipment for such things and said out. “Computer, do a quiet scan of the device currently within Engineering Statis Field 1, and report any ordinance that it contains, along with basic construction,” he said to the Ship’s Computer.

OOC: Since i’ll be using this as part of a later sim i’ll reply using computer

=/\= No ordinance is detected within the scanned device =/\= The computer replied. Showing there was no bombs in effect

“Well the good news is, it isn’t going to blow up in our faces, so let’s see what we can find out about it’s origins,” Simon responded to the computer’s answer, pulling out his security tricorder to investigate the device, looking for any commonalities in design to both Federation member worlds, and non-member worlds that the Federation knew about and had data on.

Trax looked on from a safe distance as they dealt with the device.

Ranlei began the task of learning more about the device with caution. While it had been scanned she didn’t quite trust the results a spy device really ought to be harder to deal with than this thing had proven to be so far. So she looked it over with her own eyes just in case something looked wrong. “Imay be being a tad suspicios Lt. But it seems strange that this device was so easily captured. That it does not seem to be shielded from scans at all. Either this was sent by a very ineot spy. Or it’s purpose was not really to spy but to be caught and send a message or frighten the doctor. Also lt. Star how did it get on the ship in the first place? Was it made onboard? Was it smuggled on board? Either option implies a member of the crew is possible working as a agent. “, she kept her voice low to avoid her theory alarming the CMO further.

Ensign Ranlei. Engineer.

“It could have been placed while we were docked as well, there’s many possibilities. Until we know what it is, those question’s answers have more than one possibility,” Simon replied factually in his thick southern british accent. “Once we know that, then we can think of those questions next, don’t worry - I fully intend to find out. The other question is why?” he said. “But let’s deal with these things one at a time,” he suggested.
