Dominic had put away what they got out for her to use and picked back up the bows and arrows he was using and took his aim on the target drawing back the arrow carefully watching where he wanted to aim and when he was ready he released the arrow and watched it hit the bullseyes”haha there we go. Much better. I need to practice more often don’t you think Starr?” He asked Simon looking towards him smiling

Simon leaned up against a nearby wall while watching the medical officer teach the engineer how to use a bow. His shoulder just resting lightly on the wall and legs crossed, arms folded. He let out a small sigh and said “Computer, cancel training and run previous program,” he saw the doctor and engineer enjoying their time that he couldn’t help but crack a small smile, almost imperceptable. “That can wait,” he said to himself under his breath.

As Dominic had finished the instruction and turned and asked him “learning to teach is a good way to learn, you find yourself improve when your showing someone else, it takes real talent,” he said. “But nobody can ever claim perfection,” he said, just as Mitz’uri was making her way to the control panel. “The first time I fired a bow, I hit my friend’s window out, my parents were not happy with me,” he chuckled. “Then I end up in Starfleet Security, because I practiced, and got better, and practiced - especially living a farm life, defending the crops against predators is part of the life, and my family liked the traditional styles,” he said. “We still did a lot by hand, even with the technolgy we have today. Was a good upbringing,” he began hinting at something, before snapping himself back. “Well, now that we’ve already ruined the surprise, time for a spock training drill. Computer Restart Starr Test Malfunction 1, holodeck 2,” he said, and once again the winds picked up to high speeds, the diagnostics would show the weather controls had simply been adjusted in the program, as if someone had altered the program at some point.

Dominic bit his lip listening to Simon, he was very interested in the different things he had spoken of he wanted to learn more about him but didn’t want to be pushy or intrude on his personal space.

Simon took a more authoritive stance and said “it’s a drill Ensign, see what you can do to help,” he said, with a tone that suggested he was being completely serious, and as of this moment, he announced “your briefing. The ship is under attack, multiple minor issues are appearing everywhere. It seemed small to start,” he says. He had read the reports, he could see the signs, and he had to make sure the crew was ready for whatever was coming, because with all the strange mishaps, the Security officer still in Simon was suspicous. =/\=Lieutenant Starr to Lieutenant Jones, look into suspicious activity with the replicators, and do a full sweep of the computer system, look for any signs of security weakness.=/\= It wasn’t entirely clear if it was part of the simulation, but one thing was obvious - Simon did indeed send a comm to the security making the request. “They always start with small things, and right now we are preparing for a worse case scenario,” he said just to those in the room now. “The ship is under attack, communications frozen, and the computer has changed our route to Romulan Space.”

Based on the setting Simon was putting this, it was definitely a drill, they were nowhere near Romulan Space right now, “Miz’uki, you need to get control back to the ship - the captain, chief of security, and all other senior staff are trapped on the bridge, your other engineers dealing with a damaged hull very critically close to the warp core. Ensign Corvex, you are to ensure that any casulties are kept to a minimum, but the turbolift has been disabled,” he said, giving a briefing of what had happened since the weather controller problem they ignored the first time. It was part of the lesson, that being on their toes may be essential. Simon then pulled out a PaDD, and said “computer, initiate drill conditions for Test Malfunction 1. Response Improvement,” he said, the off-duty fun side of him gone, and the persona of someone totally on duty, and completely serious.

OOC: Arthur, that was a real comm and something Simon has been noticing that he genuinely wants you to look into. Check our GMs other side sims for info :)

Simon saw the lack of urgency in the crew, and decided that now might not be the time, however he pulled out his PaDD and made a note. He could only hope that the crew were prepared, and decided to postpone the drill for now. “Computer, terminate malfunction test,” he said.

The computer responded with “Runtime: 2 minutes. Completion of Objective: 0%, Performance Analaysis:” before Simon said “Computer, analysis not required,” and the computer responded by stopping midway through. The holodeck returned to normal, but one slight change had been made, the target that Simon was aiming for was 47 meters further back, and instead of just a regular hunting bow at each station, a few other options had been added - a longbow, and a crossbow.

At this point Dominic was standing still slightly rocking on his feet eyes squeezed shut trying to not let himself get overwhelmed, Dominic couldn’t adapt to this pressure quite yet, he struggled with it and no one understood why. Once Dominic relaxed he stood still and opening his eyes seeing his original program back. “I.......I apologize sir......I don’t like surprises.....” He said becoming nervous, the poor guy was overwhelmed by it to a point where he almost shut down mentally.......

Simon nodded slightly before picking up the crossbow and loading a bolt into it. “It’s fine. However, we are currently in the middle of unexplored space. Unexplored means very limited contact with home. It’s probably worrying my parents a lot,” he said with a slight chuckle, aiming the crossbow to the now more distant target, and took a shot. The bolt hit the target, just off of bullseye.

“So the crew has the crew, and thats who we need to rely on to make it out here. We have no idea what we’re going to find out here. So, surprises are going to happen. One way or another,” he said as he reloaded the bolt for a second shot. “That means we need to be ready for anything at any time. We are probably going to find ourselves in danger. Remind me, Ensign, why did you join Starfleet?” he asked. He had read Corvex’s file when he transferred, but he also knew not everything was always in those files, and he gave Corvex time to respond, as he took aim and fired once more, hitting the bullseye this time, but gave time for Corvex to answer before even reloading a third shot.

Dominic bit his lip watching his use the crossbow ” because I wanted to help those in need....prevent death if possible..... My parents always told I’ll be alright and make my mark in starfleet. ” he said looking at the target and became rather quiet.

Simon listened to his answer, before aiming the crossbow once more, shooting in the bullseye again. “2 out of 3, I’m getting rusty,” he chuckled. “It’s the paperwork, I swear,” he jested briefly. “So, do you feel that you are accomplishing that goal?” he asked, once again seriously.

  • Lieutenant Simon Starr, XO

Dominic shook his head “no sir.....I’m trying hard enough…I’m not amounting myself to it....nor adapting.....I struggle with drills or surprises......hence my dislike of surprises.......” He said softly feeling uneasy.
