Vronclon lowered his head and let out a heavy sigh before pressing the chime to the counselor’s office. He had problems to talk about but that was for a later time. All he wanted to do was to get this over with.

With his finger still on the chime button he stared at it for a long moment before finally pressing it.

Later that day, when Guy had checked Catt, another Ensign, in the afternoon, was to be coming for a session of his. Guy had already made 8 session for various reasons: some came for romantic problems, 1 came because he was “uncertain of what I was doing at work” the rest for little arguing and private life issues. It was certainly the life that Guy dreamt.

“Oh my god, who’s know at my door?” He checked the PaDD “Ensign Vr- Vron. Ah whatever!” As he sipped some water, and changed page on his clipboard, the Lieutenant called in the Ensign and the door was now open to “welcome” the newcomer to Guy’s office.

Lieutenant Freeman, Guy - Chief Counselor Officer

“Thank you.” He said as he gave a short bow and entered the office. “I am Vronclon. I’m here for my initial assessment. May it be done now or would you rather wait for another time?”

Ensign Vronclon s’Viaen Security

“Later is worser than now, Ensign. If you permit me.” He guided him to the sofa “so would you like something to drink or eat before we start?” Asked dry the Ensign near a replicator and ordering himself a glass of water. In his mind Guy wasn’t that happy as he sounded welcoming for the 9th time someone of the crew in one day. Looking at the clock although, gave him a little relief as he saw that the shift was almost done.

Lieutenant Freeman, Guy - Chief Counselor Officer

“No. The last place I was at I had a cup of coffee. The conversation and not the coffee left a bitter taste in my mouth.” He went to the couch and sat looking at the counselor’s body language and what and how he said when he first came in. “Something bothering you counselor?”

Ensign Vronclon s’Viaen Security

“Life is bothering me, Ensign. You know, I was assigned here temporarily. But apparently, no other Chief Counseling Officer will be coming to substitute me.” He walked and took his cliboard “anyway, if you could be brief and tell me something about yourself? How the Academical life was and if there were some problems in your pre-academy and actual life period that may concern you.” He sat on the sofa looking straight in the eyes Vronclon. He seemed calm, even thought, people would freeze or be nervous when Guy looked them with scrutinizing sight.

But Vronclon was not intimidated. He looked into Guys eyes and said flatly. “If you will not take your job serious. The one YOU choose, then I will not even bother. Good day to you sir.” With that he got up and turned to leave.

Ensign Vronclon s’Viaen Security

“Ensign,” stopped Vronclon immediately before he could leave the room “you know that without my approval you’ll not be able to work onboard this ship?” He got up and walked toward the young Officer, who to Guy’s eyes seemed just another of those peeps who just wanted to show their abilities “and for your information,” he stared angrily Vronclon “I do my job with all the necessary precautions. I hate my life, and do I so with all my career history. I always wanted to be a doctor but those creeps of my parents are some sort of freaking idiots! I hate them with all of my heart and I dare you not tell me what I am not capable of.” The voice, the expression and his face were all held back from a good dose of self-control.

Then he stepped back and returned to sit down. His calm got back and the leg returned to a resting position. “So, will you complete your check-in or prefer to postpone your fit for duty certification?”

Lieutenant Freeman, Guy - Chief Counselor Officer

Vronclon stopped and turned back around and listened. He smiled. “As you wish doctor. I can see that we will very along just fine. Fine indeed. “

He went back and say back down and started in as if nothing just happened. “Well the gist of it is that I too hate my life. I am finding it hard to adjust and fit into Starfleet. To be honest after the destruction of my home world, I found it hard to fit into the Star Empire as well. When I’m not on duty or on call I drink a lot. I take risks in combat not to be brave like everyone thinks, but to see if I can get killed and ease the pain.” He then waited for the reply.

Ensign Vronclon s’Viaen Security

“Hm.” He wrote down stuff on the white paper “so you are technically fighting not to solely do your job, but to actually kill yourself? To get a relief, I am right or wrong?” He asked to the Ensign with the same linear voice line he used before the anger blew up in the air.

Lieutenant Freeman, Guy - Chief Counselor Officer

He shook his head. “Both. No. I do not intentionally put the lives of either people under me or people with me in harm’s way just to get myself killed on battle. Yes. When in battle if I can see a moment to save everyone and end myself.....I take it.”

Ensign Vronclon s’Viaen Security

“Noble.” The counselor commented “anyway, remember that Starfleet wants to preserve life and so their personnel ones. I want you to think more positive. Alright?” Said the one who two or three years, committed an almost successful suicide. It was no wonder that questions of life touched Guy in the deepest places of his heart.
Indeed he almost smiled. But he didn’t

“Ok. I will try to be more positive. “

“So, Mr. Vronclon, do you have a family, haven’t you? How is your relationship with your closer relatives?” Asked the Ensign with again a cold and unemotional face. It seemed like a reset button was clicked somewhere in his brain.

Lieutenant Freeman, Guy - Chief Counselor Officer

Vronclon just glared at the man for a bit before answering. In a flat and slightly angry tone said, “What part of my homeworld is destroyed don’t you understand?” He stood up fast and yelled. “I have NO ONE! Everyone that I have known and even cared for are gone! I did have parents and two brothers and a sister, but they’re DEAD! My wife and kids, DEAD! And you want me to be more positive?” He gestured with his arm at only the room. “Positive about what?” He exclaimed with sincere sorrow in his quite voice and sat back down slowly putting his head in his hands.

Ensign Vronclon s’Viaen Security

“Your life Ensign.” Replied aridly “even if your homeworld is destroyed, even if your life is shattered,” he drank his tea “why not be more positive on the future? This room that you, Ensign Vronclon, consider your life, is just part of something bigger. Your ship is your positivity, neither the anger, nor the revenge or whatever.”
Then he put down both tea, pen and clipboard and leaned forward resting both arms on his hips and said “I didn’t knew everyone in your family was dead. I thought you had someone to rely on. So I am sorry.”

The counselor life wasn’t like butter at all. Vronclon was just one of the hundreds who felt that way and Guy almost felt their situation on his shoulders. Even though, not everything he would say to his patients would have relieved their pain. Neither a cup of tea, and a plate of your favorite meal.
“Anyway,”he again took the clipboard and the pen “we are done here Ensign. If you want to tell me something more, like something about my ego, go ahead, I am all hear. Otherwise. You are cleared for duty.”
“For now.” He whispered.
His expression said everything. It was like: I wished you never came here. But to be honest, Guy liked a bit the conversation they had in between and was keen on returning back in time and make angry times and times more Mr. Vronclon. But that just a pervert desire of his own, something personal to say.
Then he stood up and sent the report trough his PaDD, waiting Vronclon to reply or just go away.
