“I’m honestly not sure, I mean, I don’t know about it’s intelligence level at the moment, but one thing is for sure, this slime, whatever it is, is definitely alive. Just, it isn’t a lifeform our computers recognise,” Eurika responded. “And not everyone, no - just everyone is different. I mean, our captain for example, have you met her?” she asked.

NE Eurika, Science

Catt frowned, “Now that you mention it there were two cases pf sentience at a microbiological level . But though were hive minds . If this was such a sentience I don’t think we have alarge enough sample of them to verify. Nor any means to understand them.. I’m a farmer. A overly educated farmer but I still. I honestly do not have the experiance or the inclination to make this kind of choice. We could I suppose put the sample in stasis till we find Lt. Frogue. I will look up the data on the last mission and any information on the place the sample was ftaken. Might be a clue as to what our slimy little boogerites are in that.”, Catt had of course failed hard at her diplomacy classes at the academy. It wasn’t that she fcouldn’t refrain from jokes in poor taste. It was more that the Academy had a habit of thinking certain races were good at certain things and Catt had no interest in being assigned to diplomatic duty. Boogerites Yeesh, her diplomacy instructor was likely cringing without even knowing why. The thought made Catt’s ears flicker in amusement.

OOC: Frogue should be back after today, so if Tim you need something to keep you occupied, here ya go :)

IC: “Well, if you feel he would make the best decision, Ensign. I don’t know - it seems to be acting more like an animal than anything with sentience, mostly defensive - but, do you think we have somewhere we can keep it where it wouldn’t be so stressed?” Eurika asked. “I was thinking the Arboretum, but then I thought it might decide to eat all the plants there… which wouldn’t be good… so.. any ideas?” she shared.

NE Eurika, Science

Catt settled down since Eurika didn’t respond to the joke. “No definately not we have to many fragile species in the Arboritum to think of putting them there. When did you notice they were agitated? What were you doing? And she moved over to another station and looked at the data they had on Sharok’s planet. Ok not alot of data here really other than the one that attacked was disturbed by being uncovered by a sonic drill. Maybe it’s vibrations or noise that bother it. Might of been the mother or these gmight gather together in a bigger ooze when under threa or to hunt prey. Most scavengers will grab fresh meat if it can be aquired.” She set about using the replicator to create a sound proof enclosure with sensors and the like so they could keep an eye on the sample. Then placed the sample inside and shut the box . She then watched to see what the boogerites would do. “So you going to ask your Engineer out?” She asked to pass the time while they watched the screen. So she thought Starr found these little boogers.
She would need to suggest naming them Starr carniverous boogerites if she could get Eurika and Lt. Frogge to agree.

“Hmm, that could be it. I mean, the ship’s engines create a significant amount of vibration, and it was the sonic drill before. Maybe if we could put it in a containment area which has some dampeners to limit the vibration of the ship effecting the ooze, maybe it would stop the agitation?” She asked Catt.

NE Eurika, Science

Catt snapped her fingers to bring Eurika’s attention to the soundproof box she had just replicated and put the sample into. “Can’t really omit the engine vibration without getting them off the ship. But after a day on a ship traveling you don’t notice it anymore so the organisms should get used to it. Can hardly call up to the bridge to stop the ship the engine vibrations are upsetting the boogers.”, though that would be funny it wouldn’t amuse the senior staff. She hrmmed and returned to the replicator and fabricated a small antigrav unit . She hooked it up to the soundproof box and set the box floating. “This should eliminate most of the vibration that contact with the ship causes. If they are sensative to weighlessness I doubt we can do anything to help them get comfortable.” And Catt looked at the display to see how the little boogerites were reacting.
