Simon departed from the turbolift as everybody gathered on his away team. He couldn’t help but worry about the Romulan Empire. His captain had worked with them, and he knew that not all of them were bad, but whenever the federation started getting too close to the border, the Romulans made sure to remind them. Simon nodded toward the transporter chief as he stepped into the room and waited for those he had called to gather.

Lieutenant Commander Simon Starr, XO

Having a prior warning from her department head Lieutenant Frogue, Kala had prepared herself and a small emergency field kit ready for the call to assemble, and as soon as it had been she made a beeline for the ships transporter room number 1. She was positively beaming that she was going to be going on her first away mission but also anxious from the briefing she received it wasn’t going to be anything like discovering a new planet and so she had packed some extra medical supplies and even some rations just in case. Nearing the transporter room doors she looked herself over, she had made sure to look presentable but ready for the mission and had tied her hair up this once to keep it out of her eyes though one strand of hair like always had escaped her and was constantly being tucked behind her ear. Taking one final nervous inhale she stepped forward and through the automatically opening doors where she immediately saw and acknowledge the transport chief with a quick nod. Next was the man she had read about Lieutenant Commander Simon Starr. He was younger than she was and it could be seen, she had already wondered how someone so young got to be an XO of a ship but she was going to save that for a later time and date. “Commander,” She said with a nod her medical and science pack firmly under one arm and strapped over her right shoulder.

The ‘Staff Officer Leadership Development’ course at Starfleet Academy had taught Eve much on the intricacies of away team formation. Of primary importance was the selection of team members against a variety of criteria, including maintained competency of their chosen occupation when under duress, and predicted measure of integrity in the event of hostilities. Therefore, she had always considered her own appointment on an away team to be a tremendous honour. For at its most primal level, this surely meant that her colleagues trusted her.

She had delayed personal introductions with many of the Ark Angel’s current crew members, instead focusing her socialisation routine on as narrow a control group as possible - her chief, Lt Miz’uki and the ship’s counselor, Guy Freeman. Both relationships were proceeding within optimal parameters thus far and she had been evaluating the remaining individuals on board for the selection of a third. However, the away team event would now expedite this process and the android found herself hoping that they too held a degree of trust in her.

Stepping into the transporter room, her grip on the engineering kit exceeding required levels for maintained contact, Eve fixed her synthetic lips into a wide, upturned arc. Her cerulean blue ocular implants appeared to sparkle with excitement as she stepped onto the transporter platform, although possibly it was only a power surge caused by her proximity to the primary energising coils.

Nodding to both Starr and Gorvel in the traditional manner of a restrained humanoid greeting, Eve took her place behind and to the left of Starr and then, with an animated tone, announced, “Lt Eve reporting for away team duty, Sir!”
