OOC: Leaving the below sections still unsnipped so people can insert replies!

Drudoc considered, “..Drop the buoys, however, set a timer on them to self destruct in 72 hours, or unless given direct command by a senior officer here. I figure if we aren’t finished in 72 hours…” she paused trailing off before continuing, “..Regardless,” Drudoc began about to reply when a series of beeps echoed from both Sadie’s station and and those at tactical/security.

Turning to face the screen sharply, “..Report!” Drudoc said.

On scans would show a quantum fissure opening 300km to their aft port quarter and growing rapidly, another was picked up 500km ahead of them with multiple smaller fissures within. A temporal distortion wave was accompanied by these openings.

No sooner would Sadie and Bo get their reports in when out of the first fissure a large organic like ‘ship’ almost like an elongated mushroom with spindly tentacle like protrusions emerged. The vessel matched descriptions in their logs for the Serpent’s larger ships from those of the future, similar to what they fought before coming here. Almost 800m long and 600m in height the narrowest point of the vessel was about 400m around. As they watched the mushroom head cone at the front extended and out shot what could be considered ‘thorns’ by some unknown means of propulsion, the almost blitzing style of the attack found all 30 of the thorns strike the Ark Angel’s aft quarter shields slamming them from 100% down to 87% as the ship shook from the impact.

Recovering from the impact, Drudco snapped out, “..Red Alert! All hands battle stations! NE Barks alert the Merrimack!!..” She said.

”..Aye ma’am!” Barks replied.

Ahead the second portal opened showing more artificial like ships shaped like a bird’s beak at the front they would angle back to a boxy curved structure with a pair of quad set of ovular shaped nacelle housings. These would match the smaller raiding ships encountered by earlier ships in history. About 15km long by 8km wide and 10 km height they spread out in number till 20 of the ships filled the nearby space.

”..NE Barns,” she said to the ensign to their left at helm, “..bring us to full impulse, and begin an evasive course back into the system to rendezvous with the Merrimack! Tactical target the enemy ships at will, but hold fire unless they throw more of those ‘thorns’ at us. I want to try one more time at an attempt to resolve this peacefully! Hold off on loading our Red Matter warheads..” She said.

”..Channel open ma’am…” Barks replied, echoed a second later by Barns, “..Course set..”

=/\= This is Fleet Captain Drudoc Andone aboard the USS Ark Angel! We demand to know the reasons for your attack upon the temporal fabric of our reality! If you do not cease your attack upon this ship and the Federation we will respond with the full force at my command! =/\= She snapped out.

Meanwhile the 20 odd smaller craft spread out further into groups of 4, forming 5 squadrons spread out over a 200,000km area around the Ark Angel with the far larger ship in pursuit as they went back into the system where the Merrimack was still around the third planet.

After a second another reply came in, =/\= There can be no reasons given, no discussions had, no mercy expected nor provided, for where reality bends at our will and to our shape only we may tread. For our will, our thoughts, our vision is the only one of purity..=/\= Came the reply followed by another opening of the ‘mushroom head’ at the front of the larger ship with another burst of thorns coming sailing in their way! Meanwhile the smaller ships broke their held formations strafing the Ark Angel from port to starboard and starboard to port on the dorsal vectors, knocking shields down to 85% minor damage from that source, but if concentrated and over time would be deadly.

Drudoc shook her head, “..So be it then. Tactical target all ships, alert the loading teams to prepare our Red Matter warheads..” she said.

“Aye sir,”

Cochrane nodded and looked at the tactical station. “Commence fire on the smaller groups of ships. Helm try and keep us between them and the Merrimack. Fire non-Red matter torpedoes, spread alpha-mike-four. Try and scatter those squadrons, they won’t be as effective if they aren’t hitting us simultaneously. Science, let’s get a solution for closing those rifts. We don’t need them calling for backup.”

“Firing!” Tiglath reported, calmly as he executed his orders. He took a look at the squadrons formation, hoping that if he could place a well aimed shot at in their formation, he might be able to disrupt the formation enough for them to break ranks.

The weapons fire went out scattering the smaller squadrons a bit as they came around for another pass, banking away as one of their number went up in flames, they regrouped. On scans ahead the Merrimack was breaking orbit of the third planet, and was moving in their direction to assist.

“Yes sir,” Sadie muttered, quivering slightly while madly typing and scanning and trying various simulations to see if anything might work to close the rifts. “If we fired a tachyon stream, what would that do?” she wondered quietly to herself, trying it out in a simulation.

The simulation showed that on its own just the tachyon beam would only increase their problems, which wouldnt be a good thing. Maybe running a simulation doing the same with an antitaychon beam would be a possible lead?

Chris was already tapping away at his console, routing power from minor, currently unneeded systems in order to help facilitate the recharge of their shields. It didn’t matter how minor the system to him, any additional power could be the difference between life and death. “Shields holding steady so far Captain; No damage to the hull plating .. though I would recommend not taking any more hits like that.” Nothing had penetrated the shields yet so far, but the several engineering teams were on standby, waiting to repair any damage. He ensured that Tactical had a bit more power than required for the weapons in case they were needed. He paused his routing, allowing the power to slowly start charging as he flexed his hand for a moment to stop it from the slight shake it developed from the attack.

On the tactical read outs the Merrimack’s movements had gotten 8 of the smaller craft to break off, avoiding the returning barrage of the Ark Angel, the smaller ships soon sped up outpacing the larger Starfleet ship, moving in to engage the Merrimack which at just over 80,000km engaged the ships. Their own phaser fire and torpedoes struck out, lancing along one of the ships sending it into a tail spin, while another burst of fire and torpedoes damaged but didn’t destroy another trio.

Behind the Ark Angel the larger 800m long mushroom like organic ship ballooned open again at the front launching a barrage of organic like ‘thorns’ again at the Ark Angel. Phaser fire when sent out would take care of 12 of the incoming objects, but another 8 still broke through and struck the length and breadth of the aft shielding knocking it down to 72%.

As Chris began to reroute power he would get an alert by a damage control team on deck 42 that engineering maintenance lab 3 had been sealed off due to a minor hull breach, no reports came in of loss of life thankfully, but NE Ber’cal one of the Romulan refugees that had been serving on the Ark Angel for almost 3 years now was being taken to Sickbay for plasma burns.

Almost as if just reading aloud just to keep the Captain informed of the status he continues to route power to the different positions to their shields depending on their orientation to their enemy. “Minor damage on Deck 42, damage control are already on site. Aft shields holding steady at 72%.” He looked up toward Lt. (jg) Tiglath, “Tactical, how’s your power? Do the phaser array’s require any more?”

Lt. (jg) Chris Emmitt (CE)

While tactical was busy firing weapons, reports also came in of enemy boarding parties on various decks phasing in by some kind of quantum fissure rather then transporters. Lastly, the smaller enemy ships remaining strafed through the Ark Angel’s dorsal quarter under the saucer bringing down those shields from 100% to 92%.

”..Helm bring us to 017 Mark 229. On my mark -40 degrees Z axis! Tactical arm a burst of quatum torpedoes from the forward tube with full phaser fire…” She said, as the ship began to move she snapped “..Helm mark!” She said.

The Ark Angel slightly lurched like a heavy whale to port and then down on an angle, throwing off the smaller enemy ship’s attack pattern, the larger ship even bigger and ungainly then the Ark Angel, shot past exposing its rear sections to the Ark Angel as the ship came back to a forward motion. “..Tactical fire!” she ordered.

“Lt. Sadie, figure out how to close those fissures! Lt. Trainor! Scan the ship, find the Serpents and activate the fire suppression foam in those areas. Lock down the security bulkheads and then flood the compartments with Halon 1301. Security! Have all teams engage thermal imaging! It’s about to get really foggy where they are at.” Cochrane said as the Ark Angel banked and launched it’s own barrage at the rear section of the Serpent’s main ship.

OOC: Just waiting on Trainor/Sadie/Tacticals replies…

GM CockRoach

“Scanning the ship now, Captain!” Lieutenant Trainor called out. The OPS officer had been coordinating re routing power to the various systems with the CE, and had switched his attention over to scanning for the aliens. He was about to pin point a few locations via the fire fights occurring around the ship, but the Lieutenant would have to rely on internal sensors to find those not engaged with the crew.
