V’Lath had just come aboard and decided he would go ahead and start the routine check in procedure of Dept. Head, Counselor, Medical and all the rest. He was surprised to learn that currently the XO was acting as the Chief Security Officer. He checked directions on his PADD and headed for the XO’s office. He was a bit nervous, anyway as nervous as a Vulcan could be. This was his first actual command posting and he didn’t want to make a bad impression. He arrived outside the XO’s office door, checked his uniform for any imagined wrinkles, gave it a downward tug anyway and pressed the door chime.Ens V’Lath SO
Simon had not had to do this for a while as he read over the new transfer’s PaDD. Someone that impressed the academy enough to have him lead a semester. He always was glad to see the academy doing a good job. He put the PaDD down as the door chimed and a southern British accent, like that of a farmer, responded “Come in,” as he stood up just before the doors swooshed open.

V’Lath entered the office and found the XO standing behind his desk. He noticed the slightly burred accent, and found it pleasant. Approaching the desk he straightened and spoke with no inflection whatsoever, “Sir, Ensign V’lath reporting for duty,”

“Our new security officer,” Simon responded. “Well, welcome aboard the Ark Angel, Ensign. Have a seat, would you like anything to drink?” he asked as he made his way over to the replicator, getting a lemon tea for himself.

=^= Watley to Commander Starr. Sir I have just boarded the Ark Angel, and looking over the duty roster I see there is another security officer who has just joined the crew, and is scheduled to meet with you, might I join? =^=

As the comm came over, Simon smiled. =/\=Please do, Lieutenant. I’d wanted to check in with you before you began your duties anyway and this would provide a good opportunity=/\= he responded over is own comm. “If I’m not mistaken… ah, here it is,” Simon muttered as he grabbed another PaDD from his desk. “That’ll be your the Chief of Security, Ensign. It definitely would benefit having you both here,” he said to ease any panic.
