[snip]The probe’s scans would indeed show a disabled Federation ship sitting in a Nebula–corroborating the story that Codem gave–so far.

“Hmm, at least that checks out,” Trainor muttered to himself as he poured over the data. “Something must be out of the ordinary, I just have to find it.” The Operations Chief added.

The lack of any sort of disturbance that would’ve been produced by a ship arriving after the Montezuma would be disturbing, as even when cloaked, ships were still solid.

Tenzing took note of the most recent finding, and sent it off to the Captain’s computer. Lt Cmdr Trainor ran a few more scans to detect any decaying ion trails entering or leaving the system. The Operations Chief also scanned for any sensor echoes, tetryon particles, or any subspace variances that might detect any nearby cloaked vessels.
Had Trainor been in the meeting with the Captain and Codem, he would have been able to gauge the man’s emotional state too.

Having been disturbed from his meditations, Soval stepped onto the bridge, “Report!” The XO called out in his usual curt manor. Seeing no reason to waste time on preamble and fully expecting his officers to know how to prioritize the order in which they complied.

About this point Drudoc came onto the bridge from the briefing room after her meeting with Codem and company. “..NE Willick set a course for the coordinates here as outlined by Lt Codem, once we pick up the Montezuma we’ll head directly there to assess their current status.” She said.
Turning to Trainor she added, “..Take the ship to yellow alert, raise shields and begin scans if you haven’t already for cloaked ships.” She said.

“One step ahead of you, Captain.” Trainor replied as he took the ship to yellow alert and raised the shields. “I already have the sensors looking for any sensor echoes, tetryon particles, or subspace variances.” The Operations Chief announced.

Drudoc nodded her approval. “..Very well helm set course for the Montezuma, warp 6 until we reach the nebula then drop us to sublight..” She said.

Soval, as was his habit circulated the bridge, observing the officers at their work, offering quiet advice on the rare occasion it was need. As his experience with other races had taught him he offered an approving nod to those who met his eye.

The helmsman–NE Bob–set in the coordinates. “Aye sir, course laid in, proceeding to Warp 6.”
The sensors would momentarily register something at the location in question. The disturbance was so faint, it was almost non-detectable, and the sensors couldn’t make out exactly what it was.

Getting on the tubolift and taking it to the bridge, Fayth tapped out a nervous rhythm on the bulk head. She’d actually never been on the bridge of any ship. And now she, supposed, she’d be a fixture on the bridge on occasion. It as a strange sensation and she tugged at her collar feeling the extra pip there. She still wasn’t quite sure if she was excited or overwhelmingly nervous about her new position.
The door of turbolift 3 opened and she stepped out onto the bridge. She took in the layout quickly and then stepped down the ramp and to the center where Drudoc and Soval were sitting. “Captain, I have the results of the ion test I conducted from our guests’ shuttle. I used that to track their path. The data doesn’t add up.” She passed Drudoc the PaDD with the information: The ion signatures were of a patch of ionic radiation relatively near to where the Ark Angel picked up the shuttle. A direct route from the coordinates to the location where the shuttle was retrieved was entirely possible without passing through the radiation patch, which would strike anyone as odd, as the shuttle would not have had to been damaged if they’d taken the direct route.
Lt. jg Fayth, CSO
Seeing lieutenant Fayth enter the bride, Soval mouthed a silent mantra as he raised the wards to his mind as he crossed the bridge to his seat, hoping it would bring a measure of relief to the young officer.

“Odd indeed....” Trainor added to Fayth’s report. “I’ve been monitoring the sensors that were aimed at our destination and I’m reading a faint… well a faint disturbance,” Tenzing announced. The Operations Officer sighed when he found that the computer couldn’t identify the readings, but sent them to the CO’s and XO’s monitors.
“The sensors can’t make heads or tails of it, and well… it’s barely even showing up.” The Lieutenant Commander added.
