Sharah stepped out of the recreation hall and aimlessly found an empty corridor where she leaned up against the wall. Her head was pounding and the noise was really no better. The memories washed over her, and she really didn’t want to deal with those memories right now, but one did make her smile slightly. I love you, Joseph. She stood there, quietly trying to rise above the noise and figure out where sickbay was in relation to where she had wandered off too.

The computer chirped and replied =/\= Sickbay 1 and 2 are on deck 12. Querirer’s life signs show heightened stress levels. Do you wish for an alert to be given to sickbay for an emergency?=/\= It asked obviously going off of Fayth’s comm badge life signs happening right now.

Ship’s Computer

Sharah groaned the noise of the too chipper computer voice making her head hurt more. She mumbled to herself, “Really? I’m a doctor you think I don’t know I have heightened stress levels?” Then addressing the computer again, “No. I want to know HOW to get to deck 12, not where…oh never mind. Cancel query.” Maybe she should just head back to her quarters. As big as Ark Angel was maybe she could get some distance from all the people. But with her head swimming the way it was she might end up wandering the ship aimlessly. She needed to get her bearings first. She closed her eyes, creating a mental image of a lighthouse, building it slowly.

=/\= Query canceled. Have a pleasant day! =/\= It said

Way To Chipper Ship’s Computer
OOC: Coming back. ^^^^^^ That is WAY too funny!

Hayley stepped out of the Rec hall and took a few minutes wandering nearby corridors until she found Sharah. She knew the Lt. would sense her arrival so she stood quietly until her eyes opened again. “Why don’t we head somewhere quiet? Arboretum three is in a much less population dense area of the ship. Might be a good place to get some peace.”

Jr. Lt. Marshall, CMO

Sharah nodded. The arboretum, her plants. That was a good idea. Deck…gods her head hurt. Deck 38. She looked around for the turbolift. “That sounds like a good idea. Thank you,” she whispers. She’d been doing so well too. It was frustrating, or would be when her head didn’t hurt so much. She pushed off the bulk head and moved toward the turbolift half way down the corridor. “I’m sorry Hayley, you didn’t have to leave for me.”
Lt. jg Fayth, CSO

“Oh don’t you worry about that, after that scene we all wanted to leave.” Hayley smiled, “You just gave me the perfect excuse.” She chuckled gently. Sharah’s senses would indicate that, despite her light words, Hayley would have followed her regardless of the situation. It was not in her makeup to abandon a friend in pain. They proceeded to the Turbolift and entered. “Deck 38”

Sharah tried to smile, but it didn’t quite work. A friend. Sharah didn’t have too many of those. Plenty of people she worked well with and knew in passing. But friends were very few and far between. She liked Hayley though, and she’d been meaning to try and meet her for coffee or something since that day in the arboretum, but things got crazy. Unfortunately for Sharah, she was in a bad spot and before she could filter her mouth between what she heard with her ears and what she ‘heard’ with her mind she spoke. “Friends don’t need excuses. They just … do what they do. Right?” That probably didn’t come out right, but Sharah was always so socially awkward. Sharah entered the turbolift and by some twist of luck it went straight to deck 38 without stopping. She stepped out, and without hesitating she made her way to the arboretum. Maybe it was a defense mechanism to be able to find living green things? The thought was fanciful.

She entered the smaller arboretum, which was in complete disarray. It was in the middle of being rearranged. No one was here right now, the staff was all probably bowling. Sharah sank down next to one of the bigger beds and put her head back against the bulk head.

Hayley slid down the wall to sit next to Sharah. Even in disarray the arboretum was a lovely place. Just the smell of the plants and soil alone was soothing to her senses. “I suppose that is what friends do,” she remarked softly, almost to herself. She thought about her childhood at the colony. She’d always been so different from most of the kids there, being a scholar instead of an artist. She’d never really connected with anyone outside of her family. Friends her own age we practically non-existent. Later, at the Academy she’d been so focused on excelling and learning her profession. Looking so much younger than her age didn’t help either. She felt she had to play the professional constantly just to be taken seriously. By the time she’d graduated the wall she’d put between herself and others felt a mile thick. Pleasantly professional Hayley was ingrained into her psyche. Hayley smiled bemusedly. Sharah had gone straight through that wall like it wasn’t even there. Probably because, for a Betazoid, it wasn’t. She looked over at Sharah’s somewhat pale and drawn face. “Is there anything I can do to help? Do you need me to leave to reduce the ‘noise’” Medically, Hayley knew nothing short of an induced coma would completely cut the pain for Sharah. She wanted to be there to offer support but wasn’t sure if her presence was adding more stress.

Hayley’s physical presence was making it so her thoughts, instead of being in the swirl of noise, were more towards the top. Sharah understood the friendship thing. When she was younger she was strange and the other children didn’t like her. By the time Sharah was old enough to tell the difference between spoken words and thought words the children all knew she could hear everything. She was a horrific curiosity to them and the other people in her village. Unless of course they were hurt or sick. Then they all wanted Sharah. Because she was able to figure out very quickly what was wrong and tell an adult. But it wasn’t enough to make friends. At the academy she had to work hard. There were so. many. people. So work hard not just in her studies, but to be able to concentrate despite the noise of all those people. Then of course there was an incident her Freshman year. After that her life was all work.

She smirked a little. Hayley’s wall was all about her feelings and how she reacted to people. It had nothing to do with blocking her thoughts or protecting her mind. It wasn’t a wall that Sharah had to deal with. If it had been, well then depending on how strong it was, Sharah would either ‘hear’ Hayley or not. Sharah could ignore what she heard but she couldn’t stop from hearing it. “Melorazine 50ml makes me groggy enough to not care. But I have so much to do tomorrow. Nothing really stops the pain.
An alpha inducer helps me sleep but I’ve already used it twice this week.” That would be in her medical records. Sharah never sets the inducer herself.

Sharah tries to think, to focus her thoughts. It was confusing with her memories from Earth playing in her mind. Focusing on that though and controlling that process gives her something to focus on. “I mean I know that cpt is Romulan and well trained, but that was really cool. I mean how did she do that? I didn’t even see her move.” And then she laughs a little. “I sound like a group of cadets from Challenger.” She shakes her head, there is a story there.
Lt jg Fayth, CSO

“That really was something, wasn’t it?” Hayley grinned, “Wish I could move that fast! I often wish I’d had more time on the Challenger. Cadets are definitely more lighthearted then officers.” She paused for a moment then spoke more seriously. “Do some delegating. I am giving you the day off tomorrow, Dr’s orders. You can send duty assignments to your JO’s then come to sickbay for that shot. Rest tonight and tomorrow then get back to work. You won’t do yourself any favors working in this condition.”
