Almost as though it was planned, the probe sent back a partial visual of some sort of distortion similar to the effect that occurs when a ship cloaks or de-cloaks–an almost wavy-like pattern. It was like this mystery vessel had to re-engage it’s cloaking device but never became visible. But there was something…off about it, almost as if it wasn’t really there or as if it wasn’t a ship cloaked there at all.

Long range sensors would also pick up an energy spike in the Montezuma at the same time as the visual disturbance began, with the spike dropping partially during the event, then completely after it finished.

GMT Capybara

”..Helm what’s our ETA to arrival at the Montezuma?” Drudoc inquired.

NE Bob, the Helmsman, turned and spoke up. “ETA roughly an hour to the Montezuma, Captain.”

GMT Capybara

”..Good that should be plenty of time to get to the bottom of the oddities of our guest.” Drudoc said. Having yet to be informed of the odd probe readings on scans.

=^= Understood Captain=^= He replied.

Lt. Jg. Maxwell Watley- COS

With the ship and crew ready as they would be for what may come, Drudoc waited for any further updates to come through on the probes or from Sickbay from their guests.

Lieutenant Fayth’s PADD pinged with an incoming message alert. The brief notification indicated it was from Ensign Riley, in the astrometrics lab.

The full message, once opened, read:

From: Ensign Riley, Matthew
Subject: Sensitive Request

Lieutenant,

Scans are still under way. Short-range specialist NEnsign Shannon is assisting. I have found some peculiar results that I would like your permission to get assistance from engineering in deciphering. If you grant it, where would be the best location to meet them, you think?

Sincerely,

Matthew

Sharah saw the screen on her bridge console flashing indicating a message. She walked over to the station and sat down reading the message. Being on the bridge she felt comfortable enough to answer him with a comm.

=^=Fayth to Riley. By all means proceed. You could go to engineering or if you still need the lab request them to come there. Whichever you feel would allow you to get the information you are looking for. Send me another message with what you do know so far. Fayth out.=^=

She waited patiently to et that preliminary report from Riley on her screen.

Lt. jg Fayth, CSO

Carful to shield his mind Soval approached the Science Officer . “Mr. Fayth, if you could find out the composition of the nebula perhaps we can can manipulate it to give us a ‘Visual’ of sort.” Returning to his orbit of the bridge, he continued to attempt to build a strategic view of their situation. Juggling the rumors of a ghost planet with the regions history and the data the crew was gathering.

LC Soval

“Aye, Sir.” Fayth accessed the sensors scanning the nebula for the composition and any factors causing interference in getting a visual, and attempted to clean up the visual.
Lt jg Fayth, CSO

On his return orbit Soval looked to see the CSO’s work. “ Thank you, lieutenant. Perhaps I was to circumspect in my suggestion. Can we excite the molecules in the area of the Montezuma and thus reveal the void occupied buy the anomaly?”
LC Soval

Fayth’s console flashed the incoming message alert, showing a new message from Ensign Riley with the compiled long-range sensor data, highlighting the tachyon emissions from the Montezuma and the timing of the energy spike in relation to the visual disturbance, with a note that he was still awaiting results on the short-range scans of the radiation patch the shuttle had passed through.

  • Ensign Riley, Science

Sharah had absolutely no idea how to do what the LC was asking her to do. This was not her area of scientific expertise. As she was about to tell the LC that, Riley’s data came through.

Fayth was quick to reply. Riley had done good work and quickly at that. She also appreciated his choice of a quiet message over sending the information over open comms. The typed reply was quick in return. Thank you for your discretion, Riley. I’m on the bridge if you need anything else. As soon as you have the results or any new information let me know.

“LC Soval. This has just come in from En Riley down in astrometrics. I believe this may give you what you are looking for.”

As the Nebula appeared on the screen, and data flowed in, the recording of the visual disturbance played back, and the data from the sensors showed the energy spike that accompanied it–coming from the Montezuma itself, not an external source. The energy spike begins a millisecond before the visual disturbance.

There was a faint Tachyon signature emitting from the Montezuma during the beginning of the disturbance.

Fayth took the pattern of the Tachyon emission to try and clear up the image of the visual disturbance. And because she’d promised the captain that she wouldn’t hesitate to answer a question or make a choice. “I’m sorry LC I’ve never done this before. I’m not sure I’m doing it correctly.”
Lt. jg Fayth, CSO

For a second Soval’s guards wavered and a bit of humor slipped out. Betraying the quizzical expression he had as almost a kindly smile. “I don’t expect you to, Lieutenant. This is why your’r a department head. I suspect one of your subordinates will. If not you and I can work it out together.”
LC Soval
