Sharah had gotten the full file for Trenton Park from Ashlyn. She couldn’t wait to see the whole thing, but today she was only running the beginning part of the program. She wasn’t nearly ready for the more complicated and advanced routes. The program loads into a black room, no lights around and the shuffling of a few people can be heard. The sound of an electric buzz slowly picks up and a neon blue trace lights up around the gathering of people. The bright contrasting light allowing those present to see the shadows and outlines of others. From the ring, two lines flow off into the distance, bringing up an ambient glow in the distance that brings a sprawling city into view. The city is too far away to reach but makes for a nice backdrop to the otherwise empty void. Another pair of traces, these a bright green, light up and form a field with shapes and simple platforms. The last thing to light up is a sign that designates this place as a ‘Beginners Field’.

The proposed Trenton Park had grown to a size and scope that the holodeck couldn’t handle without some upgrades. Plans and instructions for the upgrades were included with the program were available so it was simply a matter of time before someone with the skill for it would be able to run the more advanced program. Until then, Sharah would follow Ashlyn’s lead and use this version one to teach those interested that didn’t have the training or knowledge of parkour.

Sharah stepped into the warm up area. She was wearing the grey with neon blue accented body suite Ashlyn had sent to her all those months ago. She was also still wearing the light weight loose fitting cover up. Sharah, had modified the original coverup with a belt to cinch it up to keep it from snagging on the obstacles. She also had those weird toed shoes that Ashlyn had her wear as well.

The course, as always gave her some apprehension, but this course she had mastered, well okay not mastered, but was familiar with. As usual she had a med kit with her. She set it off to the side where she could get to it easily. Sharah looked around and grinned. Ashlyn had worked so hard on this program. She’d learned a lot about programming and that had helped with her information security work. Sharah reached into her bag and pulled out a bottle of water to put where she could reach it easily. Sharah had also brought several more, to make sure anyone who might join her had water–Sharah, always the doctor.

She sat down on the floor and began a series of stretches to limber up. She ended by attempting a hand stand, that resulted in her managing a roll before she hit her head on the floor. She laughed at herself. “Yeah, still not there.” She walked over to the beginner course to wait. “Computer, begin music.” and after a short trill a low volume techno beat began. Sharah really didn’t like the music, but it helped her keep her rhythm as she ran the courses.

Sharah looked at the course laid out in the hallway type structure. It had been quite awhile since she had done any parkour. “Computer set for level 1.” There was a trilling beep and then the hallway layout changed. Sharah nodded, simple, good. Nothing too hard. She walked the hallway gauging the course. Something she had started doing after she’d hit her head so hard that one time on the circular course. Her short height made a difference for some of the obsticles. Ashlyn would tell her to stop checking her self and trust her body to move the way it was supposed to. ‘Well, Ashlyn, I’m here by myself. Who’s going to make sure I’m not hurt when I screw up royally?’ She thought to herself. She made her way back to the beginning of the hallway and to the starting square.

Sharah took off at a steady job for this one. She jumped a 1 foot tall narrow wall and once she landed on the other side she began a series of zig-zag jumps positioned on 45 degree inclines. She hoped from one to the other, on the final two she pushed off a little harder to stretch the jump to actually reach the last incline. She ran the next few steps, placed her left hand on a half wall, kicked off the floor and walked the side wall, landing on both feet on the other side. There were 2 more half wall vaults and then four inclines up and then down. A low over hang had her diving to a roll and coming out at the end of the hallway. She came out of the roll at a slow job and took several steps and then slowed to walk. She turned, out of habit to wait for Ashlyn or Joseph to run the course and remembered it was just her. She walked around to the beginning of the hallway and ran it several more times.

Tabris had been looking to get his mind off of the day’s work and the past week’s troubles. He had thought about spending some time in the arboretum but figured that he needed something physically active first, he could tend to Geoff and her bay mates after he’d sweated out his frustrations. He had seen something about a parkour course being loaded up and he had known a few friends who were really into the sport 400 years ago when he was still just a kid and figured he’d give it a try, having no idea what he was up for. Tabris entered the bay while Sharah was was mid course and didn’t know anyone from the crew was running it, rather he thought they were all holo projections. He had changed into something less restrictive as a duty uniform, but was still not exactly what he should be wearing for such an activity. He walked around and talked to some of the other characters as he tried to remember what he had learned watching his friends when he was 17. He started walking down the hallway of level 1 and started to run towards the 1’ wall.

When running Sharah tended to let her mind just wander and trust her instincts to make sure she moved the way she was supposed to. It hadn’t always been that way, but Ashlyn had drilled it into her, over and over again. She’d also made a game of suddenly letting her conference yell into Sharah’s head to make sure that she could react without getting hurt. Those had been hard lessons, and painful too. So when Tabris entered, it surprised Sharah because she hadn’t been expecting anyone to actually come to the program. It wasn’t anything Tabris did, it was just Sharah not being aware. She was supposed to let her mind wander so as to not be surprised, but letting her body react instinctively. Instead she’d been focused on her own problems and was startled by someone in close proximity. Her foot slipped off a 45 degree wall hop and down she went, but to her own surprise she turned it into a forward roll and came back to her feet with enough room to push off the half wall in front of her. Then she was rolling again under the low wall and coming back up to a slow jog. She moved out of the way for the Tabris.

Tabris saw Sharah pass and was a little shocked to see a familiar face. He was about to call out when he missed the jump and caught his foot on the wall he was to jump over and tumbled into a beam he was meant to duck under and smacked himself full force. He spun to the ground in a heap as his head swirled. “Owww....” He mumbled as he sat up slowly, a bump growing on his forehead as he blinked his vision blurry as he tried to stand but fell to the floor again.

“Tabris, do NOT get up!” Sharah’s voice sounding out with the surety of a doctor who knows what she’s doing. Sharah moved over to the warm up area and grabbed her med kit. She jogged over and knelt down beside him pulling out the tricorder from long practice. Her hand framing his head and gently turning it to straighten the neck and spinal column, then she was scanning him with the tricorder, her first concern a possible concussion.

Tabris blinked a few time as he sat there and said, “I think I’m alright Sharah I just tripped.” He said softly as his vision came into focus, her tricorder would indicate some bruising but no long term damage or anything worth reporting to sickbay. “You know the last time I tried to do this was 400 years ago back on earth in 1996 when my friends were doing it, I was about as graceful back then as I am today.” He chuckled as he rubbed his head softly, “I can’t say that I’m not going to feel this in the morning though!” His thoughts were that of irritation at himself and feeling like he was intruding on Sharah’s space. He hadn’t talked to her since the construction completed, and felt like he was shoving himself into her life now.

Sharah checked over the readings and put the kit away. “Well then we should start at the very beginning!” She stood up and moved back out of the hall way. “Come on.” She waited for him and then “Computer, Trainin program, level 1” The computer trilled and the hallway turned into what looked like a large hopscotch game. “You know how to do this. Let’s go.” As they completed the course the squares got further away, in a forward motion, until they were having to stretch for the jumps. Then they moved farther away from side to side. THEN the platform raised, the highest being 3 feet above the ground. It was solid with no gaps, with the squares lighting up as they stepped into them. Then they became a zig zag pattern making Sharah and Tabris jump from side to side, one foot to the next.

Tabris was unsure of himself, exceptionally so given their past interactions, and unsure of his body in the space. His jumps were awkward but he did his best to keep up as he tried to anticipate the motions he would need to make steps ahead, sometimes he was successful but for the most part it was bumps and scrapes starting to accumulate on his hands, knees, shins, and elbows. “Practice a lot? Sorry to have interrupted, you seem to be at peace here I don’t mean to ruin that for you” Tabris said referring to the grove she was in, while also thinking ‘I’m sure you’re seeking mental peace, I really don’t mean to interrupt that pursuit.’
