Coming Full Circle

Posted Jan. 9, 2021, 12:33 p.m. by Lieutenant Junior Grade Sharah Fayth (Chief Science Officer) (Jennifer Ward)

To say that the last weeks had been intense for the crew was an understatement. Sharah had spent quite a bit of time hiding in her quarters, almost desperately wishing for her old quarters in the bowls of the ship away from everyone. Her only relief was her time with Joseph and they’d both been working almost constantly. She had been in the arboretum monitoring the hibernation of the Frost Lily when she came across Tabris visiting with Geoff. There had been some tension with Vedi and Tabris had been at a loss as to why.

Tabris had decided to spend some time with just Vedi. Tabris, with four kids now, had planned to keep Vedi home from school for a day, but Vedi didn’t want to miss school. Tabris had told Sharah that not only was Vedi doing well with his studies he was actually ahead, but Vedi felt like he was struggling to catch up. Sharah wasn’t surprised, the life on board a star ship was a lot different from living planet side, and the children had never been on a star ship before coming to Ark Angel. She understood only too well the confusion and overwhelm of being in a totally new place and being unsure of yourself. So she’d offered to take the other three to the arboretum for a few hours, on a non-school day, while Tabris spent some time with just Vedi. She also had learned from Tabris that Neltus was struggling with the anxiety that was rampant around the ship. And that was something she could empathize with on more than one level.

So with Hope, her bonsai in tow, she’d stopped by the Asam quarters and picked up Neltus, Mecona, and Julin and taken them to the children’s arboretum. She’d told Joseph what she was doing and had asked him to join them later, if he had time and felt so inclined. She was interested to see, first hand, what some of the children on board thought of the children’s arboretum, and new Julin was excited to be a ‘tester.’ Hope had several seedlings needing to be transplanted and she thought that Neltus might like one to take care of, to focus on when he got overwhelmed. She knew he wouldn’t ‘hear’ it like she did, but the work was calming, and he might enjoy it.
