In the Milky Way galaxy, most of the time she could feel her mother’s presence. A simple telepathic ‘push’, tuned directly to Hybridia, usually go a response within a few hours. As she sat in the first officer’s chair, she was afraid to attempt any contact. If her mother didn’t respond, wouldn’t that make their already incredibly difficult reality even worse?

Just as she had said this though NE Bills at helm spoke up, “..Ma’am, we are clearing the nebula’s boundary sensors are coming online fully now and we can scan out to almost normal sensor ranges..” He said.

Ahead on the screen open space welcomed them in a fashion. Unfamiliar star patterns blinking here and there in the blackness of space and time. It was a probably a certainty that their first steps on this great voyage would be, “..Full scans, all departments, let’s see what we got out there..” Drudoc said. “…Specifically try to ID where that comm traffic we picked up originated from..”

“Captain, If we send out a Class 2 probe that’ll show us more insight into our surroundings.” Lieutenant Commander Trainor announced. He was glad to see that they still had a full complement of probes available, but for how long? “I’d also like to note that we won’t know when we’ll be resupplied yet, and while we are in good shape now, we won’t be for long,” Tenzing added. With no way of knowing when they’d be returned back to their galaxy, the Operations Officer wouldn’t be able to calculate the best way to ration resources.

”..Make it a Class 5, that will give us a wider net of scans and distance to travel given its low warp capability while we’re still getting our legs under us. Full set of spectrum scans..” Drudoc said.

” We should probably look into ways to begin rationing our supplies, especially in relying less on our replicator systems.”

”..Begin a ship wide analysis of our supplies. Given our mission prior to this we had been full restocked and resupplied we should be in good shape. Further our extended cargo for the colony we were going too originally was made up of assorted building and construction material pallets. Those could be useful..” She said.

“We should be getting feedback from our probe any second now.” Trainor said after sending it out moments before. With supplies stocked from their original assignment, they’d be set, hopefully, until the Continuum decided their fate.

NE Wilson turned from the aft operations station. “..Sir..” He said to Trainor, the XO and the Captain. “..We’re beginning to get return scans on long range sensors. There’s several systems nearby which likely have intelligent life. We’re also picking up more transmissions like the one we picked up before. Still no luck though with the UT locking onto the language patterns. But it seems to be along similar lines. News broadcasts with a very ‘heated debate’ like attitude as well sporadic commercials of things to buy..” He reported.

“Hmmm.... can we detect any recent travel in those systems?” Lieutenant Commander Trainor asked, bringing the scans onto his HUD. “If so, they could probably give us a better idea of what to expect out here.”

Wilson turned to Trainor. “..Hard to say at this point, but there does appear to be signs of intelligent life and space faring at that in the region. We’re also picking up signs of debris fields near the nearest system spanning hundreds of years in age..” He said.

Drudoc turned to her XO. “..Let’s get ready for the staff meeting.” She said. Then to Trainor she added. “..Get what scans you can together in 15 minutes. Then join us in the briefing room.” She said.

Tapping a comm button =/\= Senior staff briefing in 15 minutes, all department heads have your report ready by then. Andone out =/\= She said.

Trainor nodded at the CO’s request then turned back to his station. Using the computer, the Operations Chief began to download the data they retrieved since their arrival and sent to all of the Senior Officers’ duty PaDD. Tenzing noted that the debris field did look interesting and should be looked at if they were going to gather more information on their surroundings.
