Nivor watched the crew continue the setup, and satisfied tapped his combadge. =^= Rhansi to Andone. The Diplomatic Hall will be ready when our guests arrive. =^=

XO Rhansi

=/\= Understood Commander, I’ll be down shortly. =/\= Drudoc said.

Drudoc true to her word 5 minutes later arrived with 5 more minutes to spare before their guests would be beaming aboard. Drudoc looked around at the presentations. “..Good work Commander on such short notice to you and the staff. Given this High Elder One seems to be a high ranking religious and cultural figure in the system we will need to tread carefully on diplomatic protocol on this one. Unless you got any questions I’ll go to transporter room 1 to greet and bring them here with our honor guard. You and the staff shall remain here for final touch ups.” She asked.

NL Farsee entered the diplomatic hall, dressed impeccably in her dress uniform. The young Betazoid woman was almost giddy with excitement. She loved meeting new cultures and learning about their sciences and methods. She approached the Commander, “Is there anything specifically you would like me to do?”

NL Farsee, science

Rhansi could feel the excitement coming off the ensign, and the corners of his mouth twitched around his breathers. He clasped his hands behind his back. “For now, we wait. If there is a science advisor or expert among the… High Elder One’s entourage, I would ask that you liaise with them to ascertain scientific disparities between our cultures.” He paused for a moment. “Especially if there is a way they may know of to get us home.”

Hayley stepped in just a moment or two after NE Farsee. She seemed tense at first but then relaxed as she realized she had arrived in a timely manner. She had taken a few extra minutes in an attempt to obtain a more mature look, not easy for a 20 something who usually looked like she was barely out of her teens. Her long black hair was up in a tidy french twist but a few tendrils still insisted on escaping to frame her fair face. She was tastefully and subtly made up, her freckles not quite as obvious as usual. Her dress uniform was impeccable. All it all it was a fairly good attempt at looking ‘almost’ her age. She followed a bit behind the NE and waited to address the XO.

Nivor shifted his focus to Hayley beyond the science ensign. “Doctor Marshall,” he greeted her, nodding his head. He studied her hair for a few moments. “Remarkably well done for the time given,” he commented, then gestured beside him. “We should stand here to greet our guests when they enter, I think,” he said to them both.

There was a pause before he continued. “This is my fourth first contact, and I am still nervous.” He released his hands and rolled his shoulders, flexing his fingers to get blood flowing from where his grip had been too tight.

MIz’uki entered the hall at just about that moment she was wearing the standard dress uniform a white jacket with a white shirt underneath and gold piping around the cuffs had a band with her departmental gold color instead of pants she wore a skirt which also had gold piping down the seams just visible from the bottom of the skirt was the shorts she had on for obvious reasons her legs from the Knees down were covered in a special version of the leg guards she normally wore these were white with gold trim to match the uniform

However, Miz’uki did not look happy in fact she looked absent-minded and distracted she moved to the windows at the front of the room to stare out into space she still was not dealing well with how far away they were from her home and her pride and so the Caitain Engineer just stared out the window while she waited for things to progress

Miz’uki

A few minutes later, the rear quarter door opened and Drudoc stepped in followed by two flanking NE security guards on honor guard duty. Clearing her throat to get everyone’s attention loudly, she waited till everyone had turned her way to announce their guest stepping to the side, as a bright orange jelly like creature shuffled into place using little appendages coming out of its center mass to roll out a large literally red carpet. “..May I present to all attending this meeting, The High Elder One, religious leader of the High Elder faction of this and 23 other nearby star systems..” Drudoc said.

Sloshing into the room was another large bright orange jelly like creature, this one though worn White overlaid robings that left a trail of glitter in their wake on the red carpet. As it stepped onto the carpet the first attending jelly creature made a ‘horn’ like shape on its body and a little tune sound liking a trumpet came out each toot timed to cover up the ‘sloshing’ sound the High Elder One made. The High Elder jelly creature stood at almost a good 6ft in height and 4 some feet wide, the attendant was 5‘5 feet in height and 3ft wide.

Its ‘head’ for lacking of a better term swiveled about on the top of its jelly like body, two little dimples which could be eyes formed curious looks, while a slit in the jelly revealed a mouth. “..Greetings and well wishes, children from so far away. Your kind Captain has told me a little of your arrival here. Please be relaxed in my presence, you need not stand so attentive to my needs as you are not of my faith.”

Drudoc came forward nodding politely. “..That would be appreciative, High Elder One, is there uh perhaps a better name we could refer to you then if a more relaxed stance of attendance is to be observed?” She inquired for the sake of everyone.

”..Your speech seems so limited compared to those I am used too, not primitive by any means just.....lacking in descriptions for one of my station. You may call me for now, Elder One.” He said.

”..Very well Elder One, may I introduce those of my crew who will be here in attendance?” She asked.

Squashing a bit forward the Elder One nodded. “..Of course Captain, please do!” he said.

Coming first to the XO, “..This is my executive officer, Lt Commander Nivor Rhansi.” She said.

Next came the chief engineer. “..Next is my chief engineer, Lieutenant Miz’uki.” She said.

Next came the chief medical officer, “..Next to her is our chief medical officer, Junior Lieutenant Grade Hayley Marshall.” Drudoc went on.

Next NLt Farsee came up, “..This is Lieutenant Farsee from our science departments.” She said.

Sloshing forward the jelly like creature offered a thick gooey like appendage. “..Your Captain tells me a ‘hand shake’ is a common practice among your Federation, pleased to meet you all.” It said simultaneously offering four jelly appendages to shake at once.

Farsee could barely contain her excitement. She eagerly offered her hand to greet the High Elder, “It is a pleasure to meet you Elder One,” she said respectfully. She was of course curious if the jelly like consistency would rub off like the ‘glitter’ of the robe. It didn’t daunt her at all. She knew it would be rude to as for a sample, and that was a medical question anyway. She was also very careful to keep her thoughts contained. You never knew who might be telepathic or not. And without the captain or XO’s permission she would not read the thoughts or emotions of the room. She wondered briefly if that was why Lt Fayth sent her instead of herself? She was eager to now if there was a scientist in their group she could talk to.
NL Farsee

That non-humanoid species were the exception in their own galaxy was common knowledge, though some were present; the Shelliak were the first that came to Nivor’s mind. He had already wondered if that would hold true here, but it still did not quite prepare him for… a living slime. I can readily see the uses for an amorphous body type though, he thought as he extended his hand toward the closest appendage.

“Greetings, Elder One,” he echoed the science officer’s statement, nodding his head.

XO Rhansi

Nivor turned and extended his hand toward the table arrayed with food. “We have set up a variety of foods from across the Federation, and some outside worlds,” he told the Elder One. “Any of our attendants will be able to answer any questions about the foods you may have; please, try anything you’d like to.”

He held back as their guest approached the table, sliding and jiggling along, “head” appendage moving this way and that as he inspected the food stuffs.

“Do you have any experiences with non-humanoids?” he asked the senior staff arranged beside him. He looked from Miz’uki to Farsee to Hayley. “Insight from the medical team would be delightful,” he said to the latter.

XO Rhansi

“Unfortunately not, Commander,” Hayley replied, “I have some theoretical knowledge of course but I would hesitate to apply that knowledge to an as of yet unknown people. What we know of seeming similar species might not apply and we could wind up being unknowingly offensive or insulting. I think we might be better to ask for then assume the answers to our questions.”
