Hayley took the proffered hand in a slightly firm but gentle grip. “It’s my pleasure to meet you sir.” Hayley replied. She collected a medical tricorder and probe from an alcove next to the biobed. “I will review your medical file later, but for now is there anything you feel I should know specifically about your health? Anything new that is not yet in your file?” She made a few adjustments to the tricorder and lifted the probe as it to start scanning. “May I have your permission to perform the scan?”

Rhansi cocked his head, considering. “None I can think of,” he said after a moment. “All of my medical exams and procedures have been done by Starfleet since joining. And of course, you may proceed.” He straightened for the scan, his mind wandering over what the results may be. He felt fine, and had no reason to think the scans would come back anything but fine, but… there was always that possibility, he mused.

Of course, the scans would come back fine.

Hayley nodded and began the scan, watching the results on the tricorder as she did so. “Everything looks good Lt. Commander, though you are a bit dehydrated at the moment. Don’t forget to give yourself a break once in awhile. It’s very easy to forget to do so on a busy ship like this one.”

Rhansi chuckled. “Indeed, Doctor,” he said, standing from the biobed. “I have perhaps been a little too eager to get into my new role here.” He tugged down on his uniform top before leaning against the bed, his gaze sweeping across the room. “You run an excellent department, from the reports I’ve read,” he continued. “Is there anything you need from me to help keep it that way, or improve it?”

His oxygenated-green eyes returned to her and he cocked his head. In his previous position as a chief engineer his response most likely would have been “stay out of my way”.

“Thank you Commander,” Hayley replied with a smile. While her confidence as CMO had been growing she most definitely still appreciated the approval, especially coming from a senior officer. “I think we are alright at the moment but I will definitely let you know if you can doing anything for us. My entire staff has been exemplary, Dr. Suder in particular has been instrumental in keeping things running smoothly.”
