First thing upon arriving aboard the Ark Angel, V’alura requested that her physical take place in an isolated room. Perhaps not an unusual request, but for her it was a request born of shame. Her medical history was damn near flawless. . . up until the worst three years of her life. Three years that will haunt her until the day she died because she gave in to a temporary solution. That wasn’t even being dramatic.

V’alura entered sickbay already nervous. She rubbed her right wrist just to give her hands something to do as she searched for the doctor performing her physical today. You’ll get through this, she told herself. One little physical, a quick talk about that one problem you have and then you can flee this place. While waiting, V’alura mentally scanned her catalogue of expressions and body language. What she needed is something relaxed, with calm eyes, a slight smile and an attentive but loose posture. In the span of a second she blanked her face, reset her stance and pulled that carefully crafted ideal over her like a mask. It was like that nervous woman from before never existed at all.

Trax felt a disturbance in the area as a person entered the medical bay and was really nervous. As he calmly exited the medical office as he noticed the new arrival. “Well hello there I am Ensign Trax Suder Jo Doctor here Welcome aboard! And what can I help you with today?” He said calmly and softly not to frighten her more than he was feeling from her. “Please relax no one will harm you here.” Trax added as he pointed toward the main part of sickbay and the main biobed.

V’alura turned towards the doctor, and gave him a faint smile, “Hello. Ensign Belmont reporting for my check-in.” She hesitated when told to relax, because outwardly she should look relaxed. “Just some jitters is all.” V’alura answered easily. She eyed the place the good doctor pointed too, “Actually, I was hoping for a more private area. Some parts of my medical history. . .” She gave a look that hopefully conveyed the meaning of ‘It’s complicated in a bad way’. It wasn’t even an original complication. V’laura knew all too well how her history reflected that of many other past celebrities. Yet she didn’t learn from their mistakes.

Trax felt her reaction escalates to having the idea of having her scans done in a public area we could go to a private suite or do the scans in the office?” He offered kindly to her its your choice.” Trax said quickly to her. As he gathered what he needed as he waited for her to answer him.

“Private suit, please.” V’alura said, her relief instantaneous. Okay, girl, deep breathes. This is the hardest check-in you have to get through. V’alura kept her mask in place as she followed the doctor into the private room. She settled onto the biobed there and waited for the doctor to his doctorly thing. V’alura’s medical history was, for the most part, perfect. No broken bones or serious illnesses, she was up to date on all her vaccines and there was a note for her nutmeg allergy. Which makes the section prefaced by CLASSIFIED - APPROVED AUTHORIZATION ONLY all the more jarring.

V’alura waited for it to be brought up, because it must be discussed. Getting addicted to a, at the time semi-illegal, drug for three years. Then spending six months in a private rehab to treat it. If only that was the worst of it. No, the worst came when it was discovered the drug had a strange side-effect in what the doctors called psi-positive species.
