The transporter beam whined as it materialised Lieutenant Kyle Anders aboard the USS ArkAngel. Kyle was glad to be on board a Starship again after spending a week or two on Earth while he waited for the ArkAngel to pick him up. Anders was also able to get into contact with his replacement aboard the Ogawa, Lieutenant Ashara Mavix. Kyle was confident she’d fit in well in his old position, but was looking forward to getting settled in on a Starship where he could really get his hands dirty. Not that he wasn’t glad of his time on board the Medical ship; he just felt as though the ArkAngel, a deep space exploration vessel, would allow him to expand his knowledge as an officer and hopefully propel him to the Command track where he longed to be.

After quickly dropping off his kit bag at his quarters, Kyle headed up to the Bridge to see what was going on and report to the CO and XO. He gave jovial nods and grins to some of the officers going up and down the corridor before reaching the turbolift. When it stopped and the doors came to a stop, he took a moment to take in the Bridge around him, which was already awash with activity. Crossing the Bridge towards the centre seat, he approached with a friendly smile and said, “Good morning sirs, Lieutenant Kyle Anders, reporting as ordered.”

Masi rose and smiled broadly. “Welcome aboard Lieutenant. I’m Lieutenant Commander Masi Dirida, and this is our CO, Commodore Drudoc Andone.”

“If you’d like to follow me down to my office, we’ll discuss some details of your assignment here.” Masi gestured to the turbolift.

The Romulan CO gave a polite nod from her center chair posting. But it seems she was involved with some sort of indepth PADD work so did not have alot of time to pause from it.

“Glad to Commander, Captain.” Kyle returned the nod and walked briskly over to the turbolift, gesturing for the XO to go ahead of him.

When they were both in the turbolift Masi ordered the lift down to deck 3 and asked “So, how was the trip here?”

Coming to deck 3, she showed him to her office, and took him inside. “I’m going to have some hot chocolate, can I get you something from the replicator while I’m at it?”

“The shuttle journey was quiet, I’m normally a very chatty lad. The ensign flying me around was cramming for an astrophysics final at the Academy, so he was buried in every book the Academy databanks had to offer.” Anders chuckled, “Takes me back. I wouldn’t say no to a hot chocolate myself if you don’t mind Commander?”

-Lieutenant Kyle Anders: Security Officer-

“What’s the use of having a replicator in your office if you can’t make good use of it?” Masi ordered two hot chocolates and put them both on her desk. “I remember studying for my Academy exams. Everyone was pouring over their computers. The quietest the Academy campus ever was.” She sat down and gestured to the seat across from her. “I noticed in your record you were last posted as a junior security officer on the USS Ogawa. Tell me about that.”

“I wasn’t really there long,” Kyle explained, taking a steady sip of his hot chocolate and getting comfortable in his seat, “Myself and the Ogawa‘s CoS were both holding the rank of Lieutenant, so it became more of a shared chiefhood, if you will? I was responsible for training a lot of the officers lower than us while Lieutenant Havan was on away missions.”

-Lieutenant Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-

“That’s an interesting arrangement.” Masi said with a quizzical expression that settled to a smile. “Though I suppose it does prepare you for this position more than most new Chiefs. There are 900 people on this ship, most of the time. 100 of those are Security personnel. Are you comfortable with a relatively large department under your purview?”

Kyle grinned, “As long as they don’t mind me getting my hands dirty where I can. Security needs a strong support structure to thirve, like my parents for instance.” Kyle took a long sip of his hot chocolate and glanced down at the XO’s cup, “Get you another Commander?”
