The Sickbay of the Ark Angel was certainly a sight to see for someone who was used to a small science vessel’s modest offering. And this was only one of the two parts of Sickbay on two different decks!
Luca had purposely chosen Main Sickbay on deck 12 as, according to the schematics it was also the location of the Chief Medical Officer’s own officer, and he thought he would take a chance on maybe catching a glimpse of, or even meeting one of his fellow department heads. The relationship between counsellors and medical officers was always important should a crewmember need to refer from one team to another, and each had to be confident to do so. It was no small thing to trust another with your patient.
Luca knew boarding physicals were usually a ‘walk-in’ affair, though as he stood looking for a free officer, he hoped the Ark Angel was not the exception and he should have made an appointment.
“Excuse me,” he flagged down a member of the staff as they passed. “Could you assist me? I am Lieutenant Vilyan - the new Chief Counsellor,” he couldn’t completely keep the pride he felt from his voice when he said those words. “I am here to report for my boarding physical, but am unsure who to ask?”
