Ella looked around and could see that besides her everyone else with either an Ensign or unlisted, “Oh call me Ella, especially when it’s just us” by us she meant no other officers. “I wanted to get my introduction out of the way, I tend to have an effect on… people.” She left the comment hanging between them, perhaps she’d be lucky and the Ensign loved his work or something equally more important for her Elasian ‘gifts’ to not rub off on him.

“What sort of effect?” Demil asked, seemingly oblivious to the effect of her Elasian biology. Although he seemed fairly naive, there was a slight hint of a much deeper and older wisdom that pervaded his actions, something odd given his rough apparent age of early 20s.

She smiled, “Elasians can cause a chemical inbalance which varies from man to man species to species, for Elasian men it means an unbreakable devotion to the woman, to humans its a heightened sense of affection, sometimes even down to the most primal natur.” Ella explained nonchalantly. “It would seem, thankfully so, that you are not effected. I am unsure however how my tears would unbalance you but let’s hope we don’t find out.” Despite the later, her former relisation had caused relief to spread over her, more and more people she met the less she nervous she felt about her Elasian tendencies.

Wanting to steer the conversation away from herself and towards him she quickly said “S what are you working on? The ship is so big that I haven’t even managed to make it around all the labs yet and meet everyone.” Ella exclaimed.

“I’m working on one of my projects, a language and culture of my own creation. Here, take a look!” he said, pressing a button and stepping aside as a holographic image of a planet appeared above the console, and a easy-access UI appeared on the screen. His eyes sparkled with youthful excitement as he allowed her access to the console.

Ella stepped forward accepting his invitation, she understood social science but it wasn’t her area of expertise however so any scientist could appreciate someone else’s work. “A language and your own culture?” She asked leaving the question rather open-ended to allow him to explain the different images Ella was experiencing. Something Ella liked most about the Ark Angel was the UI, unlike Demil Lis she was a formal scientist which meant she loved computers, data, artificial intelligence among a few other things. Though looking at the work Lis was displaying she could have easily as well have fallen in love with this type of project.

Demil briefly outlined the language structure and then went into the culture. To summarize, the Fai’ela are a species that historically lived in the forests, though by the time Demil was at in the simulation currently, they occupied most of the landmasses on their planet and were slightly pre-warp. They had a world government, a parliamentary constitutional monarchy. Looking over the data the young trill had, it was likely more information on this nonexistent species than the Federation had on Elasians. There was even a sample genome in the database. “So, what do you think?” he asked her.

Ens. Lis

Ella looked up from the holographic images which were now reshowing from the beginnin. “I think this work is amazing! I’d love to see the data once they reach warp travel! I do like my data and seeing it evolve in this way is… exciting. ” she said smiling, “Its really something to be proud off! How far do you think it’ll go? How did you decide the species and why a monarchy?” She had a million and one questions his creation slightly resembled her own in some ways.

“It basically just developed from their early tribal system, and remained fairly stable after some early splintering and reintegration. When they eventually went to world government, there was no reason to change,” Demil said. “I plan on keeping it going as long as possible, probably until their tech would surpass our own, which would be difficult to simulate.” He laughed at the last bit. “Anything else you’d like to know?”

Ens. Lis

She loved he idea of the simulation surpassing their own, it could even lead to technology they may be able to reverse engineer! “Oh well, I don’t suppose you;d let me copy the Data and look at it in depth down to the code? It so happens this is my kind of thing and maybe I can solve the idea of allowing the simulation to grow on its own and we can go from there?” Ella didn’t want to hijack his idea but it was one that deserved merit and if she could help his vision come alive she’d help as much as she could.

“Of course! Here’s the core of the data,” He said, downloading it to a PADD and handing the tablet to her, “And I’ll give you access to the full data as well, there’s just too much to store on a PADD.” He typed in a few commands to the console, clearing her to be able to access the program and data from any console.

Ens. Lis

Excited Ella took the PADD, “This is amazing thankyou!” She eyed the personal device with wide eye jewels filled with clear inspiration. “Wow! You’ve been very accommodating and this whole…” She was now scrolling through the small portion of data he’d downloaded “Amazing” She breathed. Realising she’d not spoken for some time she put the PADD down to her side, “Urm well. Thank you for this I suppose I’ll get out of your hair and actually fo do my own job” She joked feeling the itch to create something.
