Demil sat quietly on the edge of his bed, his quarters once again nearly sterile. Up until the past day, they had been slightly personalized, with musical compositions and Trill symbols pinned on the wall. However, following the incident in the arboretum, all of those had come down. Maybe, if he had stuck to the protocols, it wouldn’t have happened. In any case, he was back to perfectly in line. He was off-duty, but still in uniform, and his blue eyes glistened with barely-contained tears.Ens. Lis
Their Ark Angel’s adventure in the Warrens left its toll upon the crew. There were so many unanswered questions, so much time to agonize over the what-ifs and what-could-be’s. V’alura worked tirelessly upon her end-of-mission reports while also keeping an eye on her scientists. One could chalk it up to her “mother hen” and “team mom” reputation but she cared deeply for all her subordinates and couldn’t stand the thought of any one of them suffering alone.
So, she kept a mental note of any strangely behaving scientists until she finished her immediate priority work. Which brings her to the here and now, outside the Ensign Lis’ quarters. V’alura wore casual, but comfortable clothes: an oversized fuzzy purple sweater, a pair of black shorts and black sneakers. She had debated for ages between casual clothes and uniform but ultimately went with the former. She wanted her scientists to feel at ease and not like they were under a sudden inspection.
She hit the chime on his door and waited for his response.
