Don’t be so dramatic. V’alura told herself, completely self aware that such a statement was rich coming from her. She made a whole career out of drama and was, in general, a very dramatic person. One would think a trip to sickbay would be simple, and decidedly not dramatic. For the past few weeks V’alura couldn’t seem to recover from what she had dubbed a stress cold spiced with the occasional dizzy spell. Nothing she couldn’t power through or handle, but the duration of her symptoms were starting to worry her. Perhaps it was time to visit sickbay for a check up. . . but V’alura put it off. There was work to be done and she’ll take it easy.

Expect it didn’t get better. She became more tired and that wasn’t the only change. V’alura took a deep breath and stepped into sickbay. She had her calm, relaxed mask in place. To everyone in sickbay she was calm and perfectly composed. On the inside was another story. V’alura was greeted by a nurse, who directed her to a near-by biobed. “A doctor will be with you shortly,” She said before leaving V’alura to tend to the other sickbay patients.

V’alura sat with her back straight and her hands in her lap. There’s nothing to worry about. A nice doctor will come along, scan her, go ‘well there’s the problem!’ and fix her up so she can go on her merry away. Right?

V’alura Belmont, A Concerned Patient

Gavin was going down the bay staring at the PaDD, which showed each patient’s status. His mission was to increase efficiency and ensure a high through rate for the Doctors’ services. Lt Jg Stacey noticed that the CSO was listed as a pending patient on his list and decided to take care of her himself.

“What can I do for you, Lieutenant?” The CMO asked, stopping a foot or two in front of the science chief.

Dr. Stacey
Medical

V’alura smiled at Dr. Stacey’s approach, “I would love it if you could wave your tricorder over me and announce I have a cold and to take it easy for a few days,” She said with a laugh. It was a joking comment meant to be humorus and to break the ice. Mostly for her own nerves that were perfectly masked by the calm she showed the world. “And now, in all seriousness. I’ve been feeling out of sorts for a few weeks now. It started out like a cold. I was tired all the time, and there were the odd dizzy spells. . .”

She frowned, concern finally forcing cracks into her professional mask. “I thought I was just overworked and that once I cut back on my work it would go away.” But it didn’t. Even after cutting back on her work and hobbies nothing changed. “I’m more tired than ever. It feels like I have just enough energy to get through my shift.

“But that’s not what’s really worrying me. Lately I’ve started experiencing mild shortness of breath. There’s no predicting it. It just comes then goes, especially if I’ve been exercising.”
