Moving down the line further, she then stopped at the last person in line, Ensign Hobbes. “..Ensign Hobbes, it is my equal pleasure to award you a field promotion to lieutenant junior grade and to fill the Chief Engineer, vacancy your predecessor left with her reassignment, Miz’uki. You have some big shoes to fill, not only by Miz’uki and others, but it is a path I feel you are more then suited to carry forward. Lastly for your efforts to study and contain the space organism, you are to be awarded the Golden Nova Medal With Energy Ribbon..” She said pinning the junior lieutenant pip and then golden solar nova shaped medal with hanging cloth ‘energy’ ribbon on their chest. With that then Drudoc turned to let the crowd collectively cheer and clap for their awards as she returned to her podium.

Once the group had their fill of attention and quiet fell across the large double level room again, Drudoc continued, “..Now, as many of you know we always have optional themes to one of these little parties. This party’s theme is showing off past, present, or current cultural dress fashions from around the Federation or other known species. As is usual those wishing to be judged for winning this party’s prize should come forward up onto the stage. The children among the younger classes will judge the best designs, as well as who provided the most concise but informative information about their garb and its origins or development if in the future..” Drudoc explained.

Marlaa applauded as the accolades were given. Those on the stage certainly deserved their due.

She glanced sideways at her companion and smiled. “I believe we were discussing something before all this began …” She waved to the crowd of folks in costume moving towards the stage.

Kyle grinned, “I clearly didn’t go for a fancy enough costume, fancy a drink?”

-Lieutenant Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-

Mar glanced at her now empty glass. There hasn’t been anything fancy, or even remotely setting in it, but it still surprised her it was empty. With a slight laugh, she nodded. “I’d love one. The servers should be taking it easy for a few minutes, with the costume parade beginning. Maybe we can actually get something without waiting too long in a line.” She nodded towards the far side of the room where the serving counter was nearly empty because of everyone moving to see the show.

“In fact, how about we get those drinks to go, I don’t really fancy being ridiculed for my lack of imaginative outfit.” The Security Chief circled his arm in an offer to the counselor to take it, “Shall we?”

-Lieutenant Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-

Marlaa paused a moment and glanced around. Most folks were busy watching the gathering spectacle. Nodding more to her own resolve than to Kyle, she finally smiled and hooked her arm in his. “Two Department Heads disappearing in the middle of a gathering…tsk tsk… We shall have to reprimand ourselves later.” She winked in conspiracy and let him lead her out into the hall.

“I won’t tell if you don’t,” he winked back, “I fancied a stroll around the arboretum anyway,” Anders took note of the fact that the Counselor seemed to like the serene, calming atmosphere the arboretum on Deck 34 could bring. He liked that about her.

V’alura happily took center stage and gave her cultural presentation. She performed a twirl and several steps to an intricate Angolan dance, “I can trace part of my ancestry to the African nation of Angola. My dress and jewelry are traditional costume that have been preserved for hundreds of years.” She gave a brief history of the country, adding a theatrical flair that grabbed the attention and turned what could have been a lecture into a impassioned performance. “Today, Angola is home to fantastic beaches, the freshest and tastiest exotic fruits and beautiful diamond jewelry. A place where the spirit of progression and tradition walk hand in hand.” She bowed before the audience, and took her leave of the stage.

V’alura Belmont, CSO

As Valura gave her little presentation some other NE’s came up too to do their own, three in fact. One was a human man in his mid-late 30s from the medical department. He it seemed was dressed as a retro futuristic take on what people in the 90s expected people ‘in the far future’ to wear. It was comical in its type of garb. The second was a woman from Africa on Earth in her mid 20s who was dressed as a take on ancient humans when they lived in caves. The third was a Tellarite who was dressed as the current fashion trend on Tellar among the higher end mercantile folks.

Since it seemed no one else was going to be coming up after a bit, the children went down one by one asking questions among the four present on different things to learn about their takes. They all seemed to enjoy the little lessons and feeling the textures etc. Finally the 11 children all 3-6 years of age convened together off to the side whispering while they voted. Finally the oldest a 6 year old Andorian child came up to Drudoc and whispered into her ear when she leaned down on the voting results.

”..Well folks the voting is in and the results have been tallied by our amazing panel of children here from Ms. Franklin’s class.” She said giving the children a moment to shine in the spotlight. “..1 have voted for NE Marsh,” She said indicating the medical JO dressed up as a 90s retro-future style of garb. “..another 4 were for NE Harris for her human tribal garb..” She said indicating the cave woman dressed JO. “..1 was for NE Vax as our Tellarite merchant lord..” she said, “..and the final 5 were for Lieutenant Belmont for her African garb from Earth’s Angola! So the winner by a narrow margin is Lieutenant Belmont with five votes!” She said giving a pause for everyone to applaud. “..Lieutenant Belmont, for winning this contest, you’ll be the recipient of Ms. Franklin’s class awarding you in a week’s time a series of painted statues of your dresses culture for your own use and display..” She said.

Once things had died down again, Drudoc continued, “..Well with that out of the way, I will return to letting you all mingle and enjoy yourselves! The party will be ongoing throughout the rest of the day so feel free to come and go as you like. Here’s to our next post-mission party!..” She said stepping aside from the podium.

OOC: Ok folks feel free to make split off side sim threads from this and enjoy yourselves! I’ll be getting our next main sim going soonish this week!
