Travis Morgan:
Personal log:
Location: Star Fleet Security HQ/Jr Officers Quarters

“Where do I begin?” Said Travis as he sat back in the chair at the desk in his room. He exhaled and called on the computer.

“Computer, begin personal log.” The computer chirped and began recording.

“ Well, my first year and a bit here at Star Fleet Security is complete. In the beginning, I was disappointed. Because I was sure that as soon as I completed my Academy training, I would be deployed to a ship and working in space. But that didn’t happen. My first assignment was here at SF Security, working in investigations. To say I learned a lot would be seriously under stating the facts.” And he paused to consider what he would say next.

He wanted to talk about the many investigations that he had been a part of, and some of the stuff he had seen. But that was all documented in his records. After all, it was a Personal Log, so he surmised that keeping it personal and to the point was what he would do.

“I made Ensign and I’ve gotten my first ship assignment, I’m just waiting for my orders to find out which ship and where I’m headed. But I’m really looking forward to it. My trip to Chicago was a delight. My father couldn’t help but show me off to his friends and Co workers from the plant. He even asked me to wear my uniform when he took me out for a drink at his local bar. I was happy to do it for him. Mom was a bit more subdued. I guess I’m still her baby and she will never get used to the idea of me working in outer space. My brother Maurice was hard to track down. I bet he has a new girlfriend or something. He spends a lot of time on that vintage motorcycle of his. I’ll be sure to write him once I get settled on my ship. Well I guess I better get packed up. End Log.”

Travis took a deep breath and got up. He looked across the room and saw the departure packet that had been left for him by the quartermaster. It had instructions and transporter tags in it so that his gear could be tagged and travel with him. So he made his way around the room tagging his important bits and pieces. These were simple transporter tags that you attach to your gear and when you beam out, the gear is beamed to a transport buffer dedicated to you and maybe a few others and then to your room on the ship when you get there. Makes moving really very easy.

Just then there was a buzz at the entrance. He gave the command open, and the door slid to the right and a messenger stood there with a padd in his hand.

“Ensign Morgan?” He asked
“Yes. Are those my orders?” Asked Travis
“I don’t know. I’m just a messenger. When you’re done with the padd you can leave it in ops or at the beam out site if it is orders. Someone will collect it as a matter of protocol.” Said the messenger.
“Thank you. I’ll be sure to do that.” Said Travis as he accepted the padd and eagerly opened it to see the contents. As the screen flickered to life, he could see the words Welcome to the USS Ark Angel. “I’ve got the Ark Angel. Thanks, now I have to read up on my new ship. Take care.” And the door slid closed.

Travis took the padd back to the desk and sat it on top. Then he went and made himself a cup of coffee. He would spend the next few hours, reading about his new assignment and what it meant to him. Hopefully by the time he finished, he would be just a little wiser to his present situation.
