Once everyone had come in attendance Drudoc turned from her place by the conference room’s windows to take her seat at the head of the table. Pressing a few buttons on the tiny LCARS console by her the holo-display in the table lit up showing a small two planet system. “..This is the Losa system. It is a small system about 8 light years from Earth and the Sol system. It was one of Earth’s earliest permanent colonies established shortly after the foundation of the Federation in 2161. The colony on Losa II’s planet being class-m is rich in fertile soil, forests, sea life and as such made it a target for those in the Sol community who wished a life free of higher functioning technologies then those out of the mid-1800s beyond those for general health and well being, and even those would be kept to a minimum unless emergencies called for it otherwise. The colony once self sufficient for a time cut all contact with the early Federation and other outside powers. Not rejoining the galactic community until 2203 when a viral outbreak was unable to be contained and handled by local colonial resources had them send a distress call to Earth. There call to Earth was answered by the USS Vorsell a Freedom class light cruiser. They were able to handle the outbreak and the colony leaders recognized that they could not maintain their isolated status any further. Their admission into the Federation was gained four months later that year. This gave the Federation a heavy source of prized commodities of personalized crafted goods, as well as food and the like. In exchange the colony got what limited supplies they would need for other things locally. One of their requests in membership, however, is that any cargo or other deliveries to the colony must be transported by shuttle to the surface, and not by transporter unless emergency situations demand otherwise. To this end it would seem Command is detailing the Ark Angel to being a courier and mail delivery ship to the Losa colony. As you all have no doubt noticed by now, we have been taking aboard many large containers worth of hand written mail, and other physical packages from off colony family or friends. Our orders are to delivery the ‘mail’ by shuttle and runabout transport and once done return to the Sol system for further orders. Unless any local colonial needs arise, this should be a fairly in and out mission..” She explained.

”..Any questions so far?” she inquired.

Sifeda frowned, “Any idea how long we will have to play Postmaster to this colony?” she asked. Now she understood the Commodore’s annoyance. “This is a gross misuse of resources. If they are to be a Federation member then surely it would benefit them to update their technology.” Surely that was a discussion for another time and for the Federation Ambassadors that allowed the limited tech colony to join the Federation in the first place. “I can think of other ships, I won’t name them though, who are more suited for this task.”

Itri, XO

”..You are right, Exec. But these are our orders for this mission. I personally do not like it as you point out it seems a grave misuse of Starfleet’s resources. But our sector admiral is firm on this. So we will carry out our orders as needed. As I said this should be a simple warp to the colony ship down the containers by shuttle and runabouts then return to the ship and then the Sol system for whatever our next mission in a few days..” She said.

Marlaa had slid in late. Her last appointment had run late and she had walked in and nodded to the CO as she was giving the briefing. Listening to the report they were to become a courier for this tour, she frowned slightly, leaning on the wall to remain less intrusive crossing the room to her seat. She had the feeling there was more to this than mail containers and simple export goods. She didn’t say anything, but it was rankling the back of her mind.

When the XO spoke up, she fought hard to not nod her head in agreement. Instead, she started thinking of all the reasons this was possibly happening. Something, deep in her gut, told her there was more to this than letters and baubles.

Drudoc’s keen senses caught the late arrival of the CNS, Drudoc was clearly not pleased by her late arrival, but returned her gaze back to the briefing. “..Are there any other questions?” She asked.

“With your permission Commodore,” Anders began, “I’d like one of my Security detail to accompany the shuttle pilots until the deliveries are complete, unless you think we won’t be likely to encounter resistance on the colony?” Kyle wasn’t entirely sure how a mail delivery run would mean a fire fight, but it’s always better to be prepared.

-Lieutenant Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-

“If this is simply a routine mail call, I doubt a security detail would be needed,” Gavin stated, turning to the security chief, “Unless you’d think one of those muskets could penetrate a shuttle.” The CMO eased into his chair a bit more, now relaxed seeing this mission would be a two-second footnote in his weekly log. “Though, ma’am?” Gavin asked, now staring at the CO. “Seeing how Ensigns Baptiste and Buckingham did such a fine job caring for the wounded during our last mission, I was hoping they could tag along in a shuttle to stretch their legs a bit.”

Doctor Stacey CMO

“I think that’s a great idea,” Sifeda said in response to Dr. Stacey. “Even though the plant is lacking in basic technology it could be a nice place to visit.”

”..That would be fine..” Drudoc replied. “..Anything else? If not you’re all dismissed, except Lieutenant Marlaa please remain behind a moment..” She said.

After Kaden took it all in, it seemed like a very straight forward mission, but what Star-fleet, you never knew what was coming. Things hardly ever went the way as expected. Kaden then said to the Commodore, “I am going to work in engineering to make sure the ship is in tip top shape and do some drills. It sounds like this is straight forward and I will keep my department busy. There are a few items I would like to get taken care of while there is the time if that is not an issue.” He then waited for the Captain to respond. He was excited to get some direct work in with his engineering team. He always enjoyed seeing what they all could do based on drills and when there was time to get ahead of some things on the ship. He was getting excited.

“Very well, then.” Said Sifeda as she stood to her feet and headed out the door.

Itri, XO

Kyle stood and gave a polite nod to both Commodore and XO, “I’ll be at my station on the Bridge if you need me sirs.” He grinned and whirled on his feet, heading in the general direction of the Security Bridge station.

-Lieutenant Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-

((If you have anything to say, do it above here so I don’t interrupt lol… Thanks,))

Mar waited, leaning against the wall, till everyone had left. After the door had whispered shut, she glanced at the Captain. “Apologies, ma’am. Lieutenant Jopers had a small breakdown in one of the conduit tubes. Latent memories of being trapped had sprung up. I’ve asked her shift supervisor to remove her from confined spaces for a bit. Can’t go into detail, of course, but her duty roster will be crossing your desk because of the late changes.”

She pushed away from the wall to come stand closer to the table, across from the Captain. She took a parade rest stance and waited to be reprimanded.
