As soon as she entered the area, Sifeda placed a replicated order for a Krada leg, Gladst, Zilm’kach, Spicy Klingon Mollusk Soup and a cup of good strong Chech’tluth. After placing her order she looked around for a seat and found the perfect spot by a window. There was no way she was going to eat all this food but the sight and smell of it reminded her of her husband and their homeword which she was missing very much at that moment.

Itri, XO

Kaden walked into 17 forward after finishing up the mission. He was finally off from his shift after looking over the repairs on deck 12. He had hoped for some down time and nothing to come up during the time he was off. He smelted something which smelled rather good. Kaden was not aware of what it is. He looked over and saw the Commander with a couple of tables full of food. He saw something that looked like a turkey leg and was very interested. He walked over to the table and said to the Commander, “Hi Commander Itri. I see you have a table or three full of food. What might that be that appears to be similar to a turkey leg? It smells devine. I am not sure about the other stuff but I am always willing to try new things.” He then tried to not smell anything else because it all smelt amazing. He was hoping for information about what it was in order to get himself some.

Lt j.g. Buchanan
CE

Sifeda gaze broke from the food thatvwas spread over the table and she looked at the chief engineer. “Lieutenant Buchanan, please join me.” A smile formed on her face as she continued. “You must be referring to the Krada leg.” She pushed the plate that held the leg forward toward him. “Definitely a little more tougher than turkey, but it is just as delicious in my opinion. You must try it.”

Kaden looked at the taken and thought for just a second and responded, “Well, it smells delicious, the Krada leg the most. I would love to try it. Thank you for letting me join.” Kaden then took a Krada leg and decided it was alright to take a bite. He went ahead and bit into it, chewed it up in his mouth and thought for a few moments before saying anything. He then responded back to Sifeda, “This is amazing. It is extremely delicious. This might be one of my normal items to eat on the regular now. Thank you for getting this and letting me try it out.” He then smiled and went ahead and took a plate, placed the leg on the plate, and took a seat next to the Commander.

Sifeda grinned and said, “It is Se’noj’s, my husbands favorite. He likes it even more ehen he can hunt the Krada himself. One time I saw him spear one right through the eye. They make the most awful squealing sound when they are scared, but Se’noj swears that the fear makes the meat much better.” She pointed at it, “If you like the replicated version, you are going to like the real deal much better.”

Kaden wanted to ask about the other items. So he asked the Commander, “What are the other items on the table? I am not very familiar with Klingon food. I am not sure if I would be able to eat the food not being at least a little cooked.” He thought something in one of the dishes was moving and it was understood Klingons liked their food alive when they eat it. He did enjoy food not being cooked but unsure about alive food. He waited to get a response from the Commander.

Lt. j.g. Buchanan
CE

“Well you are in lucky Lieutenant. There is no Gagh on the table. It’s typically eaten raw. I won’t tell you what it consist of, else you might now ever be inclined to try any other Klingon dish.

Kaden was hoping he did not offend the Commander because the assumption of live food for Klingons. He responded to the Commander, “Sorry, I am not fully aware of Klingon cuisine. What are the other dishes? Something else smells good but I cannot put my finger on what it is.” Kaden was still hungry even after eating the Krada. He was hoping to be able to indulge in something else. He also hoped by asking the Commander, it would help if he accidently offended the Commander with his assumption of Klingon cuisine. He waited for a response from the Commander.

Lt jg Buchanan
CE

Lieutenant Kyle Anders stepped up behind Buchanan and tapped him on the shoulder, “Kaden, Commander, I hope I’m not interrupting a party?” Anders had gone through a long couple of days during the mission with the Volograd and Forseth, so was looking forward to the opportunity to relax and unwind with the rest of the crew.

-Lieutenant Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-

“Nope there is plenty of room Lieutenant Anders and it just so happens that I have ordered a feast.” She waved her hand over all the food. “Please join us and pick a dish.”

Itri, XO

Ensign Baptiste was utterly exhausted, he had been in sickbay either in major surgery, such as the Commodore, or minor injury repairs, such as the young Edosian who suffered a deep avulsion wound to one of his arms. He made his way to 17 Forward for something eat, most likely a Reuban sandwich and an ice cooled glass of lemonade. He stepped into 17 forward and saw the XO, the Chief Engineer and the Chief of Security present at a table. He debated a half second about leaving, when his stomach growled at the smells of food. He quickly went to the replicator and ordered himself a Reuban sandwich with onion rings, a side of thousand island dressing, and his tall glass of ice cold lemonade. When his tray materialized he decided it was best to give the XO a face to face report on the Commodore and her status. He walked over with his tray “Sirs,” he said, acknowledging those at the table, “May I sit and update you on the Commodore while we eat?”

Ensign Baptiste of course you can join us. Have you ever eaten Klingon food?” She offered him the Gladst and Anders the Zilm’kach. “These are all my favorite Klingon foods.

The Gladst is kind of like.....mushrooms. served with a sauce. The Zilm’kach is the Klingon version of apricots. You should eat it with the Gladst. She took a small plate and scooped some of each of the dishes on it.

Itri, XO

Kaden acknowledged the Ensign and said, “I am very curious to hear how the Commodore is doing. I have heard he is out of surgery but have not heard much past that information. With everything going on, I have not had a chance to hear about what is going on.” Kaden then waited for a response. He had hoped the Commodore was doing better based on what Kaden had heard about with the surgery but there was always still a chance for something to go bad.

Lt j.g. Buchanan
CE

“Yes, Mr. Baptiste, how is the Commodore? Will she be released from sick bay soon? Has her daughter gone to see her yet?”

Itri, XO

Kyle took a seat and passed a plate around the table of dishes, eager to hear the young Medic’s update.

-Lieutenant Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-

Johnathan sat down with a sigh, “Well I would like to report the Commodore is doing well, we will need to go in and perform some maxillofacial surgery and reconstructive surgery before returning to full duty. I am most likely going to be scrubbing the entire ship inside and out with a toothbrush when the Commodore finds out how bad the damage was and what I had to do to repair it.” He said jokingly. “Just in case any of you decide to tried and eat a console through the bottom of your jaw; I will personally remove your tongue.” He again said jokingly.

-Ensign Johnathan Baptiste, Medical

“Noted.” Sifeda said as she lifted her glass of Chech’tluth and took a long drink.

Kaden looked over at Baptiste and responded, “This is very good new indeed. I was not sure if the Commodore was going to make it or not. With the injuries I had heard were suffered, it is great news to hear he is going to recover. Sounds like you need a nice break. You should try one of these Krada legs. They are amazing.” Kaden then waited to hear a response from the Doctor.

Jonathan looked at the Krada Leg then at Kaden, “I have never had Krada, but I am willing to try it. I draw the line at Gagh, no desire to eat live serpent worms, even though they say it is similar to escargot, which I do enjoy.”

-Ensign Johnathan Baptiste, Medical

“If you try gagh,” Sifeda said, “I will try your slimy snail dish.”

Kyle chuckled and took what looked like a set of what looked like metallic chopsticks and took a mass of the swirling Gagh from one of the plates in the centre of the table, “It really puts hairs on your chest you know lad,” Anders bit into the worm on the end of the chopstick and took a huge gulp of the Klingon delicacy.

-Lieutenant Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-

Sifeda smiled at Anders. He was always willing to take risks no one else was. She would never openly admit it but Anders was her favorite Officer aboard then Ark Angel. “Pass me some,” Sifeda said holding plate over to Anders.

Johnathan smirked and waited until Lieutenant Anders bit into the Gagh “You do know that Gagh can transmit tlhIngan pa’ bI’Iq, I believe that is how it is said in Klingon. Nasty business that disease.”

-Ensign Johnathan Baptiste, Medical

Sifeda looked at Baptiste, his accent was weird when he spoke Klingon. “I have been eating gagh for some time now and I am perfectly okay.” She said as she slurped one down.

Itri, XO

Johnathan smiled leaned back and replied, “Ah Commander I believe your immune, perhaps your Romulan half or even your husband may have an effect of saving you from the disease. I was just teasing Lieutenant Buchanan. It truly is just gibberish in Klingon, something one of my fellow medical students, who happened to be Klingon, made up when she was annoyed by us humans.”

-Ensign Johnathan Baptiste, Medical

‘Well lad,’ Anders said with a grin as he forked a couple of handfuls of Gagh onto Itri’s plate, ‘If I end up in Sickbay in the next couple of days with… what was that disease called again? I owe you a round or two at the Treble Clef.’ He winked conspiratorially.

-Lieutenant Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-

Kaden was confused with the Klingon being spoken but he was really not paying once attention once English is no longer being spoken. He was more involved in eating than anything else. He looked up when the language was switched back to English. He never wants to hear someone getting food poisoning. That was not a pleasant experience. He then said to Kyle, “I hope your fate isn’t to end up in sickbay after eating something. I enjoy food going down but not coming up or out. It seems just as a waste of time and effort.

Lt jg Buchanan
CE

“I knew there was something I liked about you Kaden,” Kyle said with a friendly grin.

-Lieutenant Kyle Anders: Chief of Security-

The doors opened in 17 Forward again as a small, pink-skinned ape entered, wearing a blue Starfleet uniform and tapping at a PADD while surrounded by a small flock of tiny blue birds which fluttered around him, emitting the odd chirp as it accessed the replicator controls, typing something in and getting a small bowl of something that was cold enough to emit a frigid mist as if it had been doused in liquid nitrogen. Grabbing one of the smaller plush stools and dragging it over with it’s 6 digited hand, letting out small vocalizations of effort. Upon a closer look, the very fine blue fur on it’s skin shone in the light as it sniffed, 4 nostrils flaring as it and the birds surrounding it observed the food on the table, showing a row of sharp little teeth.

“Greetings. We are Ensign Thay Siu Gaeng of the Science Division.” The ape spoke, in a surprisingly calm and intelligent voice that was somewhat raspy, as if unused to speaking as it placed the small bowl of vibrant blue berries on the table, some of the birds hovering around the ape with their beaks sniffing at the gagh and the krada leg. “We have come over to your group as we are curious about the food on this table as it is unknown to us, the smells are quite intriguing… We wondered if we would be permitted to try some of it. We have brought cuisine from our homeworld for you to try in the name of cultural exchange between our various member species.” The ape stated, apparently the only one capable of speech as it gave a small, respectful bow. “These are Theravartosan Iceberries from our homeworld’s moon, best eaten at a temperature of around minus fifteen degrees Celsius. The flavour is somewhat tart and sweet with a relatively high caffeine content. We often use them to make Iceberry Tea in our official tea ceremonies.”

Ensign Thay Siu Gaeng (Science)

“Welcome, please join us,” Sifeda said as she extended her hands out to take the bowl of berries so she could try them. “What’s going on with the birds?” she asked, “Are they your pets?” She took a few more spoonfuls of gagh before the birds could have at it.

No to long after the science Ensign entered the doors to 17 Forword opened again. A strange pair entered Human. Well sort of human the older wore the unifor of a sacurity officer. Both had blond hair blue eyes and pail skin. The child has a purple dress on and did not aper to be more then 5 years of age.

But that was not the unusual part. The pare weight and black spotted wings. On closer inspection there were slight differences between the pair but one would need to look closely. ” Look mommy Birds” Cerenity squealed excitedly. Befor leaping into the air and flying over to the strange Ensign. She landed grasfuly next to the strand pink alien. ” Excuse your birds are so pretty what there names” She said sweetly.

The child’s mother was not to far behind though she chose to walk. ” I’m so sorry Cerenity here can be a bit excitable. I’m Ensign luna” She said both apologizing and introducing herself to this stranger that Cerenity felt the need to rush up to.

Ensign Luna

Sifeda was surprised to see Luna enter the lounge with Cerenity. When she had first met her she was very protective of the little girl and was cautious about who she’d allow interact with her. A smile came across her face because it was a sign that Luna was starting to trust her shipmates and most importantly feel safe again.

Itri, XO

Johnathan smiled at the new guest, looking at Ensign Thay Siu Gaeng he replied “What you have before you are dishes of Klingon delectables, and one lowly human Reuban sandwich, Onion rings and a glass of lemonade.” With that he cut a section of his sandwich and also heaped some onion rings on top of it and passed them over to Ensign Gaeng. Seeing the XO was done getting some of the berries Johnathan took a couple from the bowl. He then looked over at the two ladies with wings, did a quick Doctor once over of them and smiled “So are you ladies going to join us in this grand feast?”

-Ensign Johnathan Baptiste, Medical

” Yes” Cerenity said with a smile and found a seat right next to Docter.

” Are you a docter docters where that uniform right” She said.

Luna blinked uneasy. ” I gess so” Luna finaly said befor finding a seat.
Ensign Luna

“He is a doctor, Cerenity”, Sifeda said. “Tell me, what gadgets have you taken apart lately?” She looked at everyone at the table then said , “Cerenity is able to take things apart and put them back together again. She has an unquestionable curiosity about how things work.”

Itri, XO

Johnathan smiled “Ah, a future Engineer in the making. Plan to work for Starfleet Corps of Engineers when your ready?” He popped one of the Theravatosan Iceberries in his mouth. The berry was extremely cold but delicious, the juice making a smoothie type texture in his mouth. “Damn, bet these Theravatosan Iceberries would make a hell of an Eiswein wine.” He said.

-Ensign Johnathan Baptiste, Medical

“We are gratified!” The ape stated cheerily, making itself comfortable as it’s tail dangled behind it, poking out of the uniform with the tip nearly touching the floor. The small birds surrounding the ape turned their attention as the doors opened, quickly getting out of the way of Cerenity’s incoming flight path and hovering near her, as if fascinated by her appearance before turning to Luna, flitting over to her with lightning speed. They were reminiscent of very small hummingbirds, their wings beating tens of times a second before returning to the table, clearly interested in the food as they took miniscule bites. “Greetings Ensign Luna, Miss Cerenity.” The ape stated, before coughing slightly. “Excuse me.” He stated, having covered his mouth.

Taking the plate from Johnathan and nibbling at the sandwich as the birds took on the onion rings, swarming them and cutting with their claws and beaks since they couldn’t use cutlery. “Ah, perhaps an explanation is in order for all involved.” The primate stated, swallowing a bite of sandwich. “The birds are not my pets. There are 35 of us in our flock. Together with our primate host, we form a telepathic gestalt consciousness, the pooling of 36 individual minds into one being. We are all Thay Siu Gaeng. We lack vocal chords capable of making speech as you’d recognize it and we lack opposable digits, so we formed a symbiotic relationship with a primate species on our homeworld, granting them advanced intelligence and an extended lifespan due to medical care and the transition from wild hunter-gatherer societies to highly developed socieites like those on your home worlds with cities. Our species is known as The Cheylis, and we’re in talks with the Federation about joining them as we are a relatively new space-faring species. This is an exchange program.” The ape explained verbally.

“We have not attempted the fermentation of the Iceberries. If you desire, we would be happy to provide you with some and collaborate on attempting to make an alcoholic beverage from them?” The ape offered.

Ensign Thay Siu Gaeng (Science)

“So…,” said Sifeda a bit intrigued, “You are using,” she held her hand out toward him, “the primate to communicate and form tasks. Does it has a will of its own? Can it perform its own tasks and accomplishits own goals at will? Like the host of Trill symbiont?” She asked. “There has not been a species like your before and there will be lots of questions.”

Itri, XO

Johnathan was fascinated about Ensign Gaeng, this was the first time he had ever encountered symbiont species. Sure he had read up on the Trill, even practiced on holodeck simulations on managing their unique needs in surgery, he wondered what unique medical needs Ensign Gaeng would require. “Sure we can attempt to ferment some of the Theravatosan Iceberries, that is of course if the captain and xo have no objections.” He replied. “You said that you are a gestalt or symbiont race. Are there unique and necessary medical needs and cares you may require. I only ask as I am one of the doctors on this ship, my specialty is emergency medicine and trauma surgery, and I want to ensure I am up to speed in taking the best care of you should a medical issue arise.”

-Ensign Johnathan Baptiste, Medical
