OOC: Please take a look at the senior staff thread here for a quick update: https://www.star-fleet.com/core/stf1/arkangel/posts/204662/. Straight forward and to the point :) Steve, I want you to start off the thread by getting us ready for the mission.

Ensign Buckingham was stood at a counter-side in Sickbay, his elbows rested on the counter top, his lanky frame meant he was almost lent over at a right angle. He held a PADD in his hands and he was studying it intensely. On the PADD was the mission manifest, containing the outline and specific orders for departments for the Ark Angel’s next mission. Buckingham frowned as he re-read the mission briefing. It didn’t quite make sense. A mail delivery run? Surely Not.

One part of this mission did capture Buckingham’s interest quite deeply. A culture that seem to resist technological advancement. Now that would be interesting. He wondered if any medical aid would need to be given. These sorts of missions usually involved that, but would the Medical Team of the Ark Angel be able to assist in any way given the advanced state of the technology in Sickbay? This would undoubtedly be an interesting quandary. As Thomas’ thoughts began to run away with him he stopped himself. He wondered if Ensign Baptiste had seen this briefing?

=/\= Buckingham to Baptiste, have you got a spare moment to run through something? =/\=

“Alright, so the CO has said that both you and John can be part of the away team when we arrive,” LtJG. Stacey said as he set down a few stethoscopes onto the biobed. “These things were invented around the 1860s and should be acceptable to be brought down to the planet.” The CMO explained. Gavin whipped out a PaDD from his back pocket and handed it to Buckingham.

“I’ve compiled a list of equipment we can bring down, that would satisfy their no-tech needs,” Gavin said, “Have John go through it and see what he can gather from the replicator.”

CMO

OOC: So just wanted to clarify one small detail I think got lost in translation. Nothing is stopping you from bringing modern tech down to the planet when we arrive. The colonists themselves just won’t prefer to use them unless they HAVE too, its a cultural choice. Meaning lets say you show them a PADD to sign off on the upcoming mail delivery with packages by shuttle, they’re fine with handling a PADD etc, but if say try to FORCE them to use something they dont need to unless its life/death for them (say a medical emergency or sickness that cant be handled by mid-1800s era tech) then they’ll have a problem lol does this help?

GM CockRoach

OOC: lmao I could imagine the colonists looking at us like a bunch of bozos >.<

Buckingham accepted the PADD off of the CMO. “Yes Sir” He said to the orders he’d just received.
Buckingham was beginning to feel excited. It had been a long time since he’d been part of an away party, so this was going to be exciting.

Johnathan groaned and thought Qui diable me dérange sur mon temps libre? He was supposed to be off duty today and was catching up on some sleep. He fumbled for his combadge and slapped it hard =/\=Johnathan here, could you repeat last communication.=/\= he said in a very sleepy and annoyed voice.

Buckingham cringed inwardly as the tone of Jonathan’s voice lead him to realise he has disturbed his slumber.
=/\= Sorry to have disturbed you, Jonathan. =/\= Thomas said apologetically. =/\= But Orders for our latest assignment have just come down and the CMO would like us to go through it. =/\=

Ensign Thomas Buckingham - Medical

Johnathan sighed inwardly Le prix à payer pour être médecin he thought in French-Canadian; something he did often when he first woke up, Merci maman, he again thought. He rolled out of his bed =^=On my way.=^= he replied as he quickly went and hit the sonic shower and put on a clean uniform.

Gavin reappeared after a few moments. “Looks like we’ll have our own shuttle which means we’ll be able to get all of us and the supplies down in one swoop.” LTJG Stacey said to Buckingham as they waited for Baptiste to arrive.

CMO

Johnathan came rushing into sickbay, PaDD in hand and a bottle in the other. His head was down as he read the information on the PaDD. He collided into one of the biobeds and looked up. “Sorry to be late to the party. Are we seriously going down to a colony that practices 1800’s and early 1900’s ?”
