Doc Posted by… suppressed (2) by the Post Ghost! 👻 The weight upon her shoulders had lifted enough for her to find herself in a state of some comfort. Knowledge was truly the path to sadness but also to ease. It made her feel far more calm, when knowing more about what this ship was, observing the people on it and managing to learn some of the layout, mostly by the process of elimination. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : All that remained of her checkins was her boarding physical. She didn’t have an issue with doctors running them, as she knew quite wel their purpose and significance to Starfleet. It seemed irrational, to her, for a person to attempt to avoid what is only trying to verify your health or denote upon any possible issues, should any be present. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Musing to herself about some of the patients she had during mock simulations, she made her way through the door she of the sickbay, studying its interior for any sign of a doctor that happened to be unbusied. She discovered that interrupting them was never a wise idea, and instead utilizing patients, appeared the best option in such a predicament. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Situating herself to the far right, near the base of a wall, she kept herself out of the way of any medical officers who might be in a rush to achieve some task or retrieve a medicine for a patient. However, she didn’t allow herself to blend in with the walls. Instead, she kept herself visible enough to be seen, in case a doctor had the time to notice. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Delarosa : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Counselor : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Trax felt a new arrival to sickbay as he heard the doors open and close in the waiting area as he moved to the area. “Well hello there Lieutenant what can I do for you?” Trax said politely to her. Trax spoke in a calm and kind voice. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Ensign Trax Elbrun Suder Jo Doctor : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Roux offered a quite smile towards the Doctor, stepping towards him. “Hello, Doctor. I’ve merely come to complete my boarding physical,” Her tone was loud enough to hear, but otherwise soft. As far as appearance went, Roux was an incredibly small creature, her skin plastered a pale white, as was her pigmentless hair. It wasn’t hard to decipher that she suffered from albinism and a near dwarfism, as she stood at the height that was just on the boarder of dwarfism and being simply short. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Delarosa : : : : : : : : : : : : : Counselor : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “no problem Luitenant We can take care of the evaluation.” Trax said with a polite smile. “Please have a seat. Are there any current issues I might need to be aware of.” As he grabbed a tricorder and started scanning everything. As he waited patiently for her reply. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Ensign Trax Suder JO Doctor : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “There are no issues that would provide health problems, no.” Delarosa shook her head, pulling herself up onto the biobed. She clasped her hands into her lap, tilting her head as she waited for the Doctor to continue. As for the scan, there appeared to be very little issues. Her blood pressure did seem low, but that was a common notation for her. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Delarosa : : : : : : : : : : : Counselor : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Trax looked over the tricorder readings he got along with comparing the norms for the counselor. “Everything looks good Luitenant other seeing your blood pressure Is seems to be a bit low.” Trax said sincerely. “Other than that all is well with you. Also, it seems to me that you seem to be in a hurry.” Trax observed. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Ensign Trax Suder Jo Doctor : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Out of the office of the Chief Medical Officer came a large Klingon male, who stood out not only because he was bald with a metal eye patch over his left eye, but also because he wore the uniform of a Starfleet Lieutenant along with a Klingon house sash and a wicked looking dagger at his waist, right beside where a medical tricorder might also sit. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Pausing, the tall and powerfully built man surveyed the sickbay, his eye eventually coming to rest on the pair by one of the biobeds. For all appearances, it would seem the big man sighed slightly before making the few steps to them with ease, clasping his hands behind his back and standing to one side of his doctor and the patient while looking over the readings showing on the bio-bed then squinting his eyes slightly before looking at the small Lieutenant and back to his doctor. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “Doctor Suder” the Klingon began, “what causes have you identified for the patients blood pressure to be low? How can you address that problem?” Then not waiting for an answer he turned back to the woman, nostrils flaring slightly as he breathed. “I am Lieutenant Do’trahk, Chief Medical Officer. State your name for the record of this examination and explain your purpose aboard this vessel.” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Lt Do’trahk : : : : : : : : : CMO : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “I am not sure yet sir I was looking it up on the computers for more information. Plus comparing her scans to her last known scans. All seems normal to here scans with the others. The readings seem normal for her. Sir! ” As he was almost frightened by the massive klingon. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Ensign Trax Suder JO Doctor : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Roux rose her head. In comparison to the massive Klingon, she was nothing more than a house elf, or perhaps even a diminutive pixie. She found herself craning her neck, to make certain that she was meeting his gaze, as opposed to staring off in some odd direction that may confuse the Klingon medical officer. She wasn’t not intimidated by the man, while not dismissing the natural anxiety, knowing that there was no use in holding any fear towards another officer. This was, excluding his obvious superiority in physical stature and capabilities. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “A pleasure to meet you, Doctor Do’tranhk.” There was a mixture of emotion in her gaze. Perhaps it was detmination within the pot of uncertainty. Or maybe it was consideration in the pan of respect and anxiety. Such was difficult to tell within the pale gaze of the minute counselor. “Lieutenant Roux Delarosa, I am the recently assigned Counselor of the USS Ark Angel; no further purpose.” : : : : : : : : : : : : The large Klingon actually grunted in acknowledgement, then looked at his Junior Officer. “Make sure you record that, Doctor Suder, so that her records can be maintained for future reference.” : : : : : : : : : : : : : : “In all actuality, Doctor, my low blood pressure is quite common and not something to be remotely concerned over. It runs within my family, without a history of being caused by hypotension, endocrine or cardiovascular disease, nor any type of medication. Genetic, not a reaction.” She spoke, in attempt to ease any questions regarding the low blood pressure, or its treatment. Despite being a Counselor, she did possess medical knowledge, obviously. It seemed useless to specialize strictly in psychology. It also helped her in explaining her.. defects. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : Delarosa : : : : : : : CNS : : : : : : : : : : : : Do’trahk nodded once and then regarded both her and his JO. “Nevertheless Counselor, low blood pressure is cause to monitor, normal or not. Any change to your circumstances, stress, a change in diet or factors such as depression can lead to physical symptoms which may be of concern to myself or Doctor Suder here. A further drop in your blood pressure could well cause symptoms that could impair your ability to function in your capacity of Counselor and may impair your judgement, not to mention be harmful to your well being. Low blood pressure may be normal for you, Counselor Delarosa, but if your levels drop near the minimum systolic and diastolic levels you may find yourself with complications. Doctor Suder, would you please outline the symptoms our counselor should watch for and report should she find herself experiencing them.” : : : : : : : : : : : : Lt Do’trahk : : : : : : CMO : : : : : : : : : : “Do you wish me to back out sir?” Trax asked the CMO. He did not see a purpose for two officers dealing with one patient when it was a simple intake. As Trax signed off on the patients scans. Trax waited calmly to get the answers. He tried his best not to just walk away. : : : : : : : : : : Ensign Trax Elbrun Suder Jo Doctor : : : : : : : : “Ensign” the large Klingon said, slowly. “If I wanted you to back out you wouldn’t need to ask me that question. You would already know.” Do’trahk was obviously speaking with some restraint, to him that kind of insubordination was a direct challenge, but the Federation did things differently than on Klingon ships. Insubordination, he hoped, wasn’t common. : : : : : : : : “Now Doctor. The symptoms for our Counselor. Please.” The last word he spoke was delivered with his attempt at a pleasant smile, which ended up just revealing sharpened teeth. : : : : : : : : Lt Do’trahk : : : : CMO : : : : “Well doctor all the reading are showing normal but her blood pressure is low and the patient and computer show that that’s the norm for her. The scans don’t show what might be causing it? Sir!” Trax gave a deep breath as he continued. “We can try and find a cause of giver her a blood builder that might bring her levels up but that’s just a temporary solution. Sir!” Trax took a minute to think on this more. “We can try increasing your salt intake to see if that helps also increasing water consumption can help. Maybe using compression socks to help with the low blood pressure and more drastic maybe meds if the others fail. Sir!” noting this to the patient and the doctor. But fludrocortisone is one med that can boost your blood volume, Its the most common drug to treat this ailment. It is often used to treat most form of low blood pressure.” : : : : Ensign Trax Elbrun Suder Jo Doctor : : (fixed) “Salt only makes it worse, doctor. I have always been in lack of salt, due to the way it reacts with my body. More specifically, swelling and inflammation. But, I’m sure you could find a way to work around that, if needed.” Delarosa responded, adding in input, as this was her body and she knew it better than anyone else. She tilted her head minutely to one side, studying the doctors for several seconds, before diverting her attention back to the conversation as hand. She considered the words that the man was saying, finding that she had heard them before, unfortunately. After all, with low blood pressure, it wasn’t uncommon for doctors to try several medications, in attempt to raise it. At least, this was one she hadn’t heard of before, so maybe it had the possibility of making a difference in her state. “The other two would be fine.. what exactly does Fludrocortisone do to boost the volume of blood?” Delarosa CNS

Do’trahk pursed his lips as he looked over the charts, he wasn’t convinced that a medication like fludrocortisone would be wise in this instance without resorting to medications to control the side effects for this patient, especially where monitoring the symptoms and responding to them might be a less intrusive was, however fludrocortisone wasn’t common among the Klingon ships, and this Doctor may have an idea on how to use it better in this instance. “I would be content myself to simply monitor the symptoms, Doctor Suder” he said, turning back to the pair, “But explain your suggestion of using fludrocortisone in this instance, by all means. “
