It was a bit later and eventually Cochrane would have returned to the bridge in time to be relieved by Drudoc. Taking the center chair again, she spoke, “..Lt Trainor is dealing with a Boron particle that was detected on the Merrimack, seems either our presence here, or that of the Serpent’s activities are causing temporal ripples of ships in this time period. Its thankfully only disruptive not dangerous so far..” Just as she said this a faint flash of orange-silver light exploded 30,000km off their starboard bow.

”..Report!” Drudoc said as the ship was slightly jostled but took no damage.

”..Boron particle explosion ma’am, sent by transporter by the Merrimack..” Lt Barns reported, “..Lt Trainor is also signaling his request to return..” he said.

”..Granted, have him report to the bridge..” She said.

”..Aye ma’am..” He said.

Turning back to Cochrane, “..What’s our status here? Any further information found? Right now our joint plan once modifications to our weapons and shields are done and to the Merrimack, is to begin to scan for the quantum temporal distortions of the Serpents. There was also the suggestion of trying to find one of their hatcheries here in this time and use it as a bargaining tool, but I’m loathe to do that..” she said.

“The same was proposed here, Captain. It was agreed that the ethical implications made that plan less than desirable. We did have some additional tactical analysis done. It appears that the rear of the Serpent’s vessels are less protected, making that the priority target. We propose either laying modified torpedoes as mines with proximity detonators, or programming guidance systems in them to fire wide and go past the target vessel, detonating in overlapping blast radius at the rear of the vessel. Additionally, modifications to the payloads are being completed as we speak. Security has additional personnel guarding the Red Matter, Medical is prepped and ready for casualties. Did anything pertinent come from the discussion with the Merrimack crew?”

”..We found much the same, their XO is currently working on a localized subspace bomb as a back up to our use of red matter laced torpedoes. Interestingly he is of the Cheron race, I had though them all destroyed from the reports of Captain Kirk and the Enterprise’s third year of their five year mission..” she mused.

Lieutenant Trainor returned to the Ark Angel after a close call on the Merrimack. Once he arrived in the Transporter Room, the Chief directed him to the Bridge. Moments later, the Operations Chief stepped onto the Bridge, where he took his position at Ops.

“The issue on the Merri has been resolved, Captain.” Tenzing stated after reviewing the status report. It was definitely a very close call, and he had been able to sense the tension and fear of those that were near him at the time.

”..Good work Lieutenant, I will want a full report of the event once this mission is over. The fact that Boron particles showed up at all is odd. I’m sure Starfleet’s Temporal department will want to see if this was related to the Serpent’s or some other event..” She said.

Tiglath walked on the bridge at that moment and took his station at tactical. He started to reprogram the torpedoes, both as mines and proximity.

Cochrane looked at Tiglath as he began the programming sequences. “Status on the torpedo modifications, Chief?”

Tiglath looked up at the XO from his station. “All weapons armed and ready Commander, shields are green and we are good to go.” He reported.

”..Good, get me the Merrimack please then..” She said to Tiglath. “..put a narrow band filter on all bridge stations and layout for the safety of the temporal prime directive..” she said.

Once it was done and Glen’s image came up on the screen with his bridge and some of the crew on it, Drudoc rose from her chair to speak. =/\= Captain Glen, everything is set to go on our end here. My crew has finished configuring our weapons and defenses as we outlined, as well as prepared the torpedoes with the particles we brought with us for this fight. They’ve also confirmed our findings during our meeting that the Serpent’s rear areas of their ships are more vulnerable to attack due to higher energy emissions interfering with the shielding forms they use. We’ve also begun scans of the area of this reality and time period, as well as temporal scans here and in subspace looking for the signs of where the Serpents may arrive. So far we are showing nothing, but given their emergence seemed tied to this region I would theorize it is only a matter of time till something shows up. What is your status then? =/\= She asked.

=/\= Captain Andone. I didn’t expect to hear from you again so soon. I trust everything is going to plan. Thank Lt. Trainor for his help with the Boron Particle. Kord and Mthunzi have one missile ready and another is being prepared as we speak. =/\= Glen said.

Once he replied Drudoc nodded again, =/\= For now I might suggest you update your Starfleet of current events if you think its wise on an encoded channel. At the least they can be kept appraised if you think it wise on things. In either case, I am going to move my ship to 30,000km outside the system here to began more in depth scans, the local solar radiation is having some effect on the clarity of our quantum scans. Perhaps you might investigate the third planet? Maybe it might shed some light on why on our time it is destroyed and if its tied to these Serpents..=/\= She suggested, =/\= Unless you have a better idea? =/\= She inquired obviously willing to go with anything better Glen might suggest, again showing her more team work approach compared to the last round of 24th century Captain’s he had to deal with.

OOC: Sorry, was trying to stall a bit to see if we could get our new Engineering JO into the fun, but it seems that might not happen?

Chris’s voice chirped through the internal comm’s channel on the bridge.

=^= Captain, this is Emmitt. Just want to give you a quick update, we’ve got about a half of the torpedoes completed and filled with the Red Matter, the others are still being lined up and modified as we speak. Apologies for the time it’s taking but … we have to make sure everything is precise. Especially when dealing with .. well.. you know. =^=

Chris wiped his forehead with his sleeve down in the Torpedo maintenance bay after closing up another torpedo. “NE Sanders, please bring up the next one. Let’s keep these rolling smoothly.”

Lt. (jg) Chris Emmitt (CE)

The voice of the XO came across to Emmitt. =/\=XO to Engineering. Chief, you have an estimated time for how long you need to finish up? I don’t think the Serpents made a reservation for a specific time or number in their party… and we want to make sure we can ‘accommodate them’ as soon as they arrive. =/\=

Cochrane, XO

There was a distinct and lengthy pause before Chris’s reply came through.

=^= Sorry about that Commander, we were just filling another one of the torpedoes. I would estimate about an hour to an hour and a half? I’ll try to drop the timing on it though! The hardest part is just filling them, I’d rather our ship not become the densest thing in the known area.. Especially in front of our friends. =^=

A bit of nervous laughter could be heard before his comm signal stopped for the end of his transmission.

Lt. (jg) Chris Emmitt (CE)

The turbolift Doors opened and a rather tall and powerful looking Klingon, bald and with a metal eye patch with beads in his braided beard, wearing a Klingon House Sash over a Federation Uniform, in medical blue of all things and a dagger beside his Medical Tricorder, stepped out and looked around the bridge for a moment. Nodding to the crew nearest to him he stepped onto the command section of the bridge and cast his eye at the screen before him, and at the old looking images on it.

“Captain” the deep and decidedly strong voice announced, “Sickbay is ready to accept casualties.”
